  1. This is enabled so somebody couldn't sit there and suck out all the avaliable reasources by clicking "view new posts" over and over again. I belive there's a set time limit on how often you can search that not sure the exact time though.
  2. I'm going to do some work on the forums and plan to take them offline around 3:30 PM CST today. Shouldn't take that long at all, I'll update you on the situation once I'm done for the reasons why, how, when where and all that good stuff.

  4. Ohh where, Ohh where did my Googlebot go?! Man, I've even gotten the magical Googlebot to visit me a few times just by fallowing the little nugets of knowlege Scott lets us in on every so often.. Just think how high my site could get if I bought a search engine optimization! Naughty Naughty Naughty
  5. Twist, old buddy.. old pal.. I'd say just move on to Mozilla Firebird as well.. As said above much sleaker, quicker and smaller..

  7. Question: Answer: Here is how with .htaccess <Limit GET> order allow, deny allow from all deny from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx deny from xxx. </LIMIT> Simply replace the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with the Ip you want blocked. Then re-upload into your public_html folder and thats it. You can also use wildcards like so 111.111.111.* Here is a downloadable list of IP to Country mappings. 8. Could you show us an example of what you mean?
  9. Fixed! That just goes to show you Total Choice Web Hosting will even jump at a moment's notice for the slightest problem! Dance Rock Sign
  10. Yeah, the "l" is there, but hard to see because it was missed when the link was created. I'll go in there and fix this right now.
  11. *kicks Kelly for not showing up here more often* As for the XP firewall, it's very basic at best and wouldn't exactly the best best protection between you and the outside world.
  12. Please see these threads for your answers: Can I Upgrade/Downgrade Anytime? What Happens If I Went Over My Bandwidth Limit? Also, no there are no hidden fees before or after here at Total Choice Web Hosting!
  13. I do the same with aspects of my site, but instead of SSI I like to use PHP includes. I haven't found any big advantages one over the other myself, it's more to the level of which to you like better regular vanilla ice cream or french vanilla ice cream. On a technical side, I don't see where this would cause any problems, and it is a bit of a time saver in my own experiances with it.
  14. Yeah, this is just some crafty page scripting that sneaked past you, not much you can do other than scan your system and make sure there hasn't been any registery changes, then change your homepage back, and make a note to not go to that page again. I'm moving this to General Software Issues as well, as it would fit better under that category than here.
  15. To change the email address we contact you with, please put in a new help desk ticket. To change the email address your billing information comes from each month, please go to the processor from which you paid (2checkout, paysystems, paypal) and change that information with them. On the billing email changing, more information can be found here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/billingpage.htm
  16. Yes, any website can be viewed in any browser, it's just how much time and energy you want to put into it that's the measuring point. On my blog, when designing the layout I had Opera, Mozilla and IE6 all running at the same time.
  17. It's happened to us all! Under CGI Scripts, click counter and a new window should pop up. Scroll down a little bit at the bottom, and put in the counter's name and then you can reset it right there.
  18. Unless you have a reseller, semi-dedicated, or dedicated account then yes you will have to purchase a new plan, because we do not allow more than one domain name to be hosted from one account. You could have two domain names, with one parked on top of the other, but I don't think that's what you want to do here. So yes, get that second low cost account here at Total Choice Web Hosting!
  19. Hmm.. I'm no phpBB expert (but I'm sure somebody here is!) If I were you, I'd go take a visit at phpbb.com and see what you could find poking around in their support and faqs. Good luck!
  20. I really wish I had a legit reason to use e107 and I'd use it all the time.. lots of bells and whistles to use in it, and the setup is one of the easiest I've seen in a loong time. (Belive me, this job has me installing all kinds of stuff!)
  21. When I was looking for something like this for my site, I played around with e107 and really liked it a lot! I belive you can find their website at e107.org Dance
  22. I have pinned this topic because of all the good information inside, way to go guys and gals!
  23. There's nothing to worry about on this message, just delete it. I belive it gets sent to you when you mess with some of the webmail stuff. No reasons to worry!
  24. I would check your paths in the .htaccess file to make sure they were done correctly. Also if it's too big, sometimes Internet Explorer takes it over with it's own error page. Chances are once your domain name goes active you'll have to change the .ataccess paths again to reflect the path including your domain name so I would just wait on it if I were you and just make sure your pages done have any reason to pull up a deadly 404 or others..
  25. All you need to do is upload the .zip file to somewhere, lets say for example sake you want to put it at: >http://www.yoursite.com/downloadthis/ Well then just tell your friend the file is at: >http://www.yoursite.com/downloadthis/thefile.zip and he should be able to download it with no problems at all. Hope this helps!
