If your looking for information on how to get SSL set up, please check out this page: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/sslpage.htm You might try searching for some password protection scripts that you could put on a whole folder as well..

I think what Rick is saying is that some people have got it running on their own, but no we do not install it by default. Support can be reached here, the online opperator, the help desk, by email, ect... many many ways to get your questions answered here!

Doc, you definately win the award for the most bizzare and funny 404 page!

How Can You Tell If Your Site Has Been Hacked?
TCH-Sales replied to Morganza's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
As HeadGuru said you are a server 8 client which means we were moving your server this morning, please check this thread for more information on that: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...=30entry20871 Now that could be the problem. I also heard mentioned that you have been enabling and disabling hotlink protection. I know several people have had problems with hotlink protection so take a look for the .htaccess file and I belive this is the code it puts in for hotlink protection: >RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$ RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?****/.*$ [NC] RewriteRule \.(gif|jpg)$ - [F] Somebody be sure to correct me if I'm wrong! Hopefully that should clear it up if that is the problem. Now thirdly, I noticed that your names of the images are capped, which will also cause you problems. All paths, files, and everyting else should be lower-cased on your account. Please check this thread from the FAQ and How-To's sections: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...t=0entry19990 Now you at least have a few things to try out, and a few more explainations for what might have happened. Hope it all works out for the best! Thumbs Up -

Good to hear you're having so much fun!

What was the address given to you in the welcome email? If you dont want to type it here, either send me an PM on the board or email it to me and we'll see if we can see what's going wrong here!
-
Probably not, the script is pretty simple in itself. If anybody has and good alternative solutions though, feel free to post!

Man, that's what I get for rushing eh? Thanks for the heads up, I got it fixed.

Ohh great, now you got me messing around with mine!

Yep, the best rule of thumb is just to never open attachements! I got to say I've gotten this same email once and I did a search finding out what it really was.. second best rule of thumb is to be suspecious of everything! Naughty

Everybody please take notice that the the address to the Jeering Jargon has changed! Please change your boomarks and favorites to: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/jargon/ Thanks!

Not a problem, if there's anything I know better than customer service, about it's the pain of layout design..
-
Yeah, I like AWStats a lot more too for stats like that. Also, I agree it's a pain to get things working with Mozilla (Netscape), Opera and IE without worrying about really old versions. Of course it's not good to sit on the bleeding edge of new page design either.. You just got to find a good place inbetween.
-
Well see this is what you do.. you sneak up behind them real slowly then wack them over the head with a big stick! No, no, no.. I'm kidding... Running through the validators is a good idea, but that doesn't always mean your site will work with an older browser, that just means that it's up to date with the latest compliance to whatever you are checking. Really here you have two choices, to use new and better techniques or to stay in the stone age to keep old browsers happy. I hate to say create two diffrent versions of your site, like a light version and a heavy version but in the long run your never going to be able to make every browswer happy. Like the old saying goes, you can make some of the people happy some of the time, but not all of the people, all of the time. Maybe if you know some of these stone-age browser users, give them a wink and a nudge to upgrade to Mozilla Firebird? (Okay I like Mozilla Firebird, and if I sugested IE6, I'd probably be flogged by the masses)

If you haven't noticed by now, I added a special forum to the TCH Policies and News section for the Jeering Jargon columns. Feel free to continue giving me your feedback on what I've written either how you have been (through email) or now on the new section of the forums! Also feel free to put in your two cents, point of view or just give us here at Total Choice Hosting a pat on the back.. Thumbs Up

Just added what Bill had to say about this to the FAQ and How-To's section of the forums! http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...=ST&f=20&t=3043

All UNIX and Linux based Web Servers are case sensitive in regard to file names. Mac OS or Windows NT based servers are not normally (since Mac OS and Windows do not use case-sensitive file systems). If you use the browse or the Point & Shoot method to make your links, then windows will create the link with the same case as your file name. When working in Mac OS/Windows, changing the case on a file name doesn't make it a different file. The Mac OS/Windows sees "myfile.html", "MyFile.HTML", and "MyFiLe.HtMl" as the same file. But to a UNIX or Linux based server, they are three different files. This may cause confusion if you change the case in the name of some linked files. The files will also work on a Mac OS or Windows NT based server. But on a UNIX or Linux based server the links will be broken. The best rule of thumb is to determine a naming convention for your files, including what case will be used, then stick to it. Avoid renaming files after they've been linked. The web is more restrictive on the use of special characters in file names. The following characters CAN'T be used the in file names: • forward slash ( / ) • more than one dot ( . ). The only period used has to be part of the extension as in index.html • You can't use the hyphen ( - ) as the first character in a file name.

Help! My Website's Been Hijacked By Apache Webserv
TCH-Sales replied to Virtual Imager's topic in Open Discussion
No that'd be a bad idea. You see lets say your website it totally down and out, then we send you an email to your TCH hosted site. Wait a minute, your site's down.. you can't check your mail.. Hence there's the reason why we send them to an account outside of Total Choice Hosting.
