  1. From the .htaccess file, you can ban certain IP addresses from getting access to your site at all. You’ll need to add the following into your .htaccess file: >order allow, deny deny from xxx.xx.x.x allow from all All the work you need to do is replace the "xxx.xx.x.x" with the IP you want to ban. You can also do more than once, just add the "deny from xxx.xx.x.x" under the previous one, like this: >order allow, deny deny from xxx.xx.x.x deny from xxx.xx.x.x deny from xxx.xx.x.x allow from all This shows you that three IP addresses are being blocked. You could also change “allow from all” to “deny from all” to turn everyone away from your site. It's just that easy!
  2. Setting up your error documents through the .htaccess file is easier than one might think. Here’s an example of what you would want to cut and paste into your .htaccess file: >ErrorDocument 400 /errors/400.html ErrorDocument 401 /errors/401.html ErrorDocument 403 /errors/403.html ErrorDocument 404 /errors/404.html ErrorDocument 500 /errors/500.html This tells the server that each of these errors pages are in the /errors/ folder and the exact file that needs to be seen when somebody encounters that error. Each line represents one error. For example, this >ErrorDocument 404 /errors/404.html is the line for a 404 error, or the message you get when a page can not be found. You can change the path of the file you want the user to go to when they run into the error as well. Just change the “/errors/” to another path like “/static_pages/404.html”. If you need to get more information on customizing your 404 error page, please check out this thread from the cPanel forms.
  3. Kevin has it right on the money!
  4. Yes, you are right. If you were to move your hosting somewhere else, all you'd need to do is change the name servers at the register to your point at your new account.
  5. I wish you the best of luck getting them converted over to Total Choice Web Hosting! Spending hours trying to drag an answer out of tech support? Good thing that sort of thing does not happen around here!
  6. There's nothing we can do about the first question, that's just the way InvisionBoard is set up. The second, I'll be taking a look at later today. Thanks!
  7. Thanks! I drew that by hand, and then scanned it in and touched it up on the computer. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. That's right! No server or network problems are welcome here!
  8. That'd be awesome Raul, I say go for it!
  9. Big congrats! I'm going to have another nephew or neice to look forward to in a few more months. Hope it's a little girl, cause I've had my fill of my little nephews..

  11. Looking forward to working with you, congrats!
  12. Well from what you have shown us, that looks like your 404.shtml file is missing. Here's what I do to take a look at all my horrible little 404 and error messages though: 1. Go into AWStats 2. Go down to the very bottom of the main page where it says: HTTP Error codes 3. Click on the "404" (it should be a blue link) 4. Then that should give you the path of the page that's missing, the number of times somebody has hit it, and where the link was referred from.
  13. I would say more than likely this can't be done, because the domain name and it's sub domains are tied into one account already. I'm about 99.9% sure on this, although I'm still searching around for a definite answer. What I would suggest you look into would be to just upgrade the plan you've got now, then just set your page up as a regular sub-domain. That way you'd have the extra space and your sub-domain title too. There are just too many "ify" things with doing it the other way.
  14. As of right now, our install scripts don't support 1.2 Final yet. Early on there were some issues with upgrading and installing this version so that's the reason whe have took a few steps back from it. You have two steps you can take here: 1. Install InvisionBoard from your cPanel, then upgrade it to the newest version. 2. Just do a full install of the new InvisionBoard on your plan. If you choose to do the first, be very careful and make sure you check with the support documents given to you as well as the ones on InvisionBoard's official site. As soon as I feel a little more secure about the stability issues of 1.2 Final I might even write an install walk through for you guys and post it in the "Questions and Answers" section of the board.
  15. Man do I ever need that server! It'd save the long walks to the kitchen to get a refill, that's for sure!
  16. Alright Paco, the Head Guru is a man who stays true to his word! We now have a plan between 20gb and 50gb (35gb to be exact) and it's name is the Platinum Plan. It's got 2000MB of Disk Space, and is priced at $26.95 a month or $296.45 a year. All you need to do is put in a help desk ticket, and we'll walk you through the steps of moving up to the new plan. Just one more reason why... Rock Sign
  17. That's right you have your choice to pay by month or by year on the regular plans! It's just that easy! All you do is name the folder you want it to be in, and hit "Go!" The rest of the work is done for you automatically. Just by personal preferance, I'd say register the domain name first, then the domain space. Really doesn't matter though. Our cPanel test drive is controlled by cPanel itself so we have no control on when it's up or not. Private registered domains hide your contact information from Whois searches. This is just handy if you don't want other people to trace you as the owner of the site. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away! Looking forward to seeing you in the TotalChoice Hosting family!
  18. Please open a new ticket up at the help desk and we'll get this taken care of for you. Thanks!
  19. We will take it into consideration. The best way to manage multiple domains though would still be to purchase a reseller account. You'd have much more control over the domains than if we were to allow 2 or 3 diffrent domain names to be hosted on one plan. Might be something worth looking more into if you are planning on having more than one domain. Of course, we can always park domains on top of one another, but that is only if the domains are leading to the same page on the same site. To get this done, all you need to do is drop a ticket by the help desk.
  20. Your exactly right Lunar, good job! George, let me know if you need anymore clarification on this. I'd be more than happy to help explain further if you need it. Now I'm moving this thread into "pre-sales questions" just in an attempt to keep things tiddy around here.
  21. My desktop is usually cluttered with all kinds of diffrent windows most of the time. Always answering a few questions, or referancing something from the past posts.. I'm not really working till I get about 10 diffrent pages up and running at the same time, each with their own purpose.
  22. Well to carry this on any further, you might want to put in a help desk ticket. From there, any refunds will be up to our billing department. Best to handle this through the help desk though. Have a nice day!
  23. As Rick said... It's better to be safe, than sorry. Speaking as a client, I'm thrilled TotalChoice Hosting does this. The best advice I give to anybody concerning email is do not open attachements, period. For myself, I use Outlook Express but I have all HTML emails turned off, I don't accept attachments, and I have turned the preview pane off. As far as virus and email filtering software, as it's been said these companies don't update their definitions till something comes out, hence there's still a bigger chance of you getting hit by it if you don't have the protection TotalChoice Hosting offers. Also there are alternative ways for you to get these files across other than email. So I also stay in the "keep the filter on" camp. Thumbs Up
  24. It does the job, but as Andy said to do the job better you might consider doing it by hand instead. To make sure all the details are to your liking.
  25. I'm chatting with you right now about this, so we'll carry this on from there!
