Hi, As Mike says, try contacting the host, but other then that, unless you want to involve a costly Law suit that might not even work, there is nothing that can be done about. I would contact the ISP too and complain about it. Other then that, keep everything patched and upto date. Jim

Nat, For web robots, look here: http://www.robotstxt.org/wc/robots.html You can find what info to look at etc. Also, you can look at other peoples robot.txt files. E.g, go to googles robot file here: http://www.google.co.uk/robots.txt For error pages, I have the following set in my .htaccess: >ErrorDocument 404 Http://www.****/errors/error404.html ErrorDocument 403 Http://www.****.com/errors/error404.shtml ErrorDocument 401 Http://www.****.com/errors/error401.html Error pages need to be at least 10K in size due to a problem with IE, so stick a nice 12 K graphic in there too! Hi, Nearly all Total Choice Hosting Staff have been on the other side of the fence. This company exists beacause Bill knew that the grass was indeed greener on the other side of the fence, and this is now living proof of it. Horror stories exist about everything though, nothing is perfect, if it was, we would worry. Thats why we have an open policy. We like to know not only when we are doing good things, but when also we do bad things, because then it gives us a chance to improve and become better then before. Thanks for all the kindness, and I hope you enjoy being with us Jim

Hi, It would seem like the usual CSS problems with IE which is very picky about how and when CSS is used in a page. First of all, copy the code into a new page, so its not directley working off the blog. Then copy all the CSS into the <Style> tags rather then linking it off and see how it works then. You be surprised what does and does not work then. Also, I know its easy and should be able to do it like this: >a:link, a:visited { color: #333; text-decoration: underline; } a:active, a:hover { color: #333; text-decoration: none; } But IE proberley likes it like this: >A:Link{ Color:#333; text-decoration: text-decoration: underline; } A:Visited{ Color:#333; text-decoration: text-decoration: underline; } A:Hover{ Color:#333; text-decoration: none; } A:Active{ Color:#333; text-decoration: none; } Your H2 first problem is proberley down to IE being unable to build the CSS up correctly. Solution? There is not one really. Play a bit more around with your page. I often just create blank pages to work on, and say put just H2 tags in with only H2 in the CSS and see if that works. Then if it does, I bring in more parts of the page until it falls apart. Jim

Netscape Email Configuration Problems
TCH-JimE replied to dreamcloudwolf's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Hi, Have you checked here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/netscape.htm Jim -
Hi, He would need to change his domain name servers to point to ours. This should be possible. Once you have changed them, wait upto 72 hours and presto, it will then work. Stealth is a bad way of doing domain names. Jim

Its also useful if people know what they want and the flash is for some unknown reason taking a long time to download, or they have stopped the flash download for speed. Jim

Hi, Have a look here: http://www.webdav.org/ Jim

Hi, Hmmm, you would need to have a forum which only guests could post in for a start. It should be possible but quite a feat. What I have done is I have a seperate forum where certain people can come and start threads with news items. Other vistors can only reply and also the news then gets flashed on the front page. Ok it means them logging into the forum, but then everything else goes smoothly from that. I use phpBB to do it, but you should be able to do the same using Invision Jim

Hi, Several things 1) Some permissions with gallery you can not change. The folders/pics become owned by the server itself for sercurity reasons. The only way to change these are to submit a help ticket 2) The CPANEL permissions panel does not work unless you click on and off the tick boxs to get the right number. Changing the numbers alone will not work. 3) However, it sounds like a general problem, please submit a help ticket. Also, delete the pics if you can do, if not, ask to have them deleted in the support ticket submittance. I use the gallery remote uploader, very handy! Jim

Hi, Things to do are: 1) Inform the help desk of the change over to your new address. Make sure you put "email me here" too, so you can get the response back to the new address 2) Log into cpanel and change the email address at the top 3) Log into your account here on the forums and change that too JIm

Do you have a required flavour Bill? Jim

Hi, If your using Outlook, make sure you have the latest office updates, they are very handy! Jim

Hi, As borfast explained, you would need to change every single variable so it was not the same as the other one. You would also need to change every single ID, element and call name that is used too. If you need two menu scripts in one frame, you might want to look at how your doing your website. A good website design would not need two drop down menus like that. Jim

Hi, No google wont follow flash links, but you can be just as sneaky, and actually help thoose who have disabilities. At the bottom of your page, there should also be a text menu, something like: | Home Page | News | Forum | Help | Contact me etc, and each should have a <A> tag with the correct link. It should also match the top menu layer of your flash menu. Google will then follow these and you will still gain the ratings due to links at the bottom. Flash can't be read very well by screenreaders, hence the text menu at the bottom is just perfect as it solves two problems with one stone Jim

Hi, No sorry this is not installed on any of our apache servers. You could submit a help ticket asking if this could be installed. Rick and Bill will then take a look at it and tell you whether its possible or not Jim
-
Jimmy, Intresting, I am guessing this has to do with the recent update to Cpanel. If you start a support ticket, we shall take a look and see if we can find away around it. Jim

Hi Jimmy, Thanks for that Glowing report! Its true, here at total choice hosting, we have nothing to hide. People are now starting to immidate what we do, but the original is still the best, us! Rock Sign Jim

Disk Usage In Cpanel Not Accurate?
TCH-JimE replied to solspace's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Hi, Extra space can be taken up by logs, larger Mysql databases and email boxes. If you are still concerned, please drop us a help ticket, and we shall tell CPANEL to recount itself again. If there is a problem this will fix it Jim -
Hi, Do you have a site link where this occurs already? Jim
-
Hi, You can not direct any domain to a subdomain, so no its not possible either. Money back does not apply to domain names. Very sorry Jim
