Don't know if that is possible. There is a forum specifically for phplist here and even offers a section "does phplist do this?". You might post on that area to get a quick response from other users. FYI: A full list of phplist features is here for reference.

Welcome to the forum! The starter plan has more than enough space for you to get started and grow too. One commercial site I work on that is hosted at TCH is more than 200 pages (some images but mostly text)and even offers downloadable pdf documents. It only takes up half the space allotted in the starter plan! And the amount of bandwidth easily covers the visitors we receive (we have email processed elsewhere so it does not drag on our bandwidth at all).

Yep me too! Congratulations! Antivirus programs are perfect for scouting out viruses, worms and trojans. But antivirus systems are not designed to also watch out for adware/spyware/scumware. Lots of folks think they are protected if they run Antivirus and a Firewall. Unfortunately they aren't. Haven't ever used Spy Sweeper myself so can't comment on that program. I like Adaware (freebie) (and sometimes spybot search and destroy and hijack this) for finding and slapping down the adware/spyware/scumware that cause headaches. Unfortunately no one program can catch/fix all the yuck. Just about everyone gets one or more of these pieces in thier system at one point or another. Even folks with good computer habits. Even with a firewall in place you can get this YUCK into your system. It can actually be installed by you with legitimate software, it can put an inviation tag in an email or other downloaded file and that invites the rest of the installation files to come in. Gator/GAIN is famous for this. You accept a program (like a clock, weather notice, search or information or shopping toolbar, etc) and once in the system it sends data back and forth without your permission and even adds new options to your computer. Worst of all, it slows the system or the internet connection or both. Can bring system to a standstill. Friend of mine on high-speed connection had so many separate "helper" programs (SCUMWARE/ADWARE) trying to reach the web at the same time that he could not get an IE window to open fully! Took several hours to clean his system. His started with a purchased program that installed a "helper" program without his notice. (I found it listed in the program LICENSE with disclaimer). The companies that create and market this crud say it is good for you. BAH HUMBUG. Can only harm you and send your statistics (and possibly your data) to someone else.

Don't be afraid to mention something! This forum makes TCH special and you are a welcome part of that community! Though many of us can assist in general terms, other forums that specialize in windows might be your best route for detailed windows issues or spyware/adware/scumware removal techniques. (Sam imagines that moment of recognition and compares it to that commercial: Slaps forehead and says " I could have had a V-8!") Yup, I knew you knew that! Sometimes we can't see the forest for the trees and just need someone to remind us to look at it from a different angle. By the way, I have never heard of a TCH quack file so you don't have to worry on that account either!

Yes since you have administrator rights that is correct. Every program that is installed in your computer should be available to you. Click your start button and look at all the programs you have offered. This is the start menu. StartUp and Start menu are two different things. - Start menu has the full list of the programs YOU are allowed to use. (If signed into the other identity, you will see the programs he can use). Could be dozens of programs. Practically everything that has been installed will be listed when you have administrator rights. These programs are not running when you start the computer. They are available for you to start at any time. - Startup is a folder inside the start menu (in the programs folder) and the shortcuts listed in this folder tell Windows XP to start these programs when the computer starts up. You might only have one or two items in here, or none at all. Could be printer, adobe acrobat, etc files that you may want running in the background automatically when you start the computer. If you do not want something to startup when the computer starts, you can remove links from this folder. For a client that didn't want to chance deleting anything that he may need later, I created a separate folder inside the programs folder (named it disabled startup) and dragged the items I did not want starting up into that folder. Links are not lost, just set aside if he wants them later. Since you are on a binge to clean your computer stem to stern, you might consider having someone come to your home and give you a few pointers on XP, maintenance and file/folder structures. Any of the friends/neighbors have teenagers that are computer literate that can sit with you for a while? I've found a few minutes side by side/one on one can REALLY make a strong impact. Or anyone from work that would be willing to assist? I have spent many evenings with co-workers going over computer basics and answering questions that were really bugging them but were afraid to ask. They are more comfortable with home computers and I am more confident they will not royally mess around with the office machines. Win-Win for both.

Snow! What a wonderful concept. You can have summer, give me FALL! Love the colors, sounds, smells and temp!

Keeping the firewall and antivirus running for that second person, especially a computer novice, is very important. Jim thanks for reminding me of the keyboard shortcut for the Explorer window! Been right clicking start and choosing Explore because I couldn't remember the keyboard option!

Where is the IMAGE you want to display located is the main question you need to ask and answer. If the image you want to show on your secure page is in the shop directory, you would link to it like this: https://serverxx.totalchoicehosting.com/~your_cpanel_user_name/shop/image1.jpg If the image is stored in a folder called images then it would look like this: https://serverxx.totalchoicehosting.com/~your_cpanel_user_name/images/image1.jpg If you have your image stored in a folder called images INSIDE the shop folder then you would use this: https://serverxx.totalchoicehosting.com/~your_cpanel_user_name/shop/images/image1.jpg Same formatting. You just adjust it to fit YOUR website, your server and where your image is located. You can have the shop files pull in an image that is stored in a different directory without a problem.
-
Create a link to the image using the following example: https://serverxx.totalchoicehosting.com/~your_cpanel_user_name/image_folder/image1.jpg - replace xx with your server number (shown at the top of the cpanel) - use your cpanel user name - identify the folder where you have your images stored (sample has image_folder) Oh, by the way, if you have the hot linking protection turned on, you must put in your shopping cart as allowed to access the image.

Wow...what a list..... I'll start with Favicons: 1. Create or find the image (.jpg file preferably) that you wish to use. 2. Crop it to a 32x32 pixel size using your favorite graphics editor. 3. Use the FREE Irfanview or other image program to save the file as an .ico file. 4. You must name your file favicon.ico (no caps, no spaces, all lowercase) 5. Upload your favicon.ico file to your web site using an FTP utility or the built-in File manager, and place it in the same directory with your home page (index.htm / index.html). Note favicons are finicky in Internet Explorer. From a post made by Kevan: "Internet Explorer caches the favicon.ico file in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder, so when you empty the cache folder, you'll delete the fave icon files. IE7 still works this way. Some alternate browsers, like Firefox, keep the icon files." Choosing a search option for your site can be complicated and confusing because there are SO MANY variables to consider. You need to decide what your site needs. Again hotscripts offers many alternatives. Search boxes come with many different options: - Free or paid - onsite or offsite - with or without ads - script or 3rd party service - and combinations of them! Examples: - google, freefind.com and others offer free searching but they come with ads to competitor sites/products. - several sites will offer to host your searching, free with ads, paid ad free (freefind.com offers both). - scripts can be free or paid for and installed on your hosted site. The paid scripts have more file types, options and may have better security. I also should mention that if you need your PDF files, etc searched, you need a more robust version of search software/script! And not all search scripts work on all servers, some require MySQL databases, some do not... Before downloading/purchasing/trying any script or service, you need to carefully check the REQUIREMENTS list. Usually the type of server and many other items are listed to help you determine if that option will work for you. And if not sure, contact host with list of requirements and ask if you could use it.

If you are visiting web pages and right clicking on an image, choosing the option"SET AS BACKGROUND" that image is stored only temporaily. The next time you choose set as background, your image is replaced. No space on your computer is wasted for this. As to other images you have used as a desktop, your images could be stored ANYWHERE on your computer. Most people store images in MY PICTURES folder and access them through the desktop properties interface using the BROWSE button. Windows would make a shortcut to the image you chose to display. If the images are stored in the Windows\Web\Wallpaper directory, you can remove them and they may be taken off the list. If you have other images listed that exist in other areas of the computer, don't know of anyway to clear the names from the list. 2 things you might try, no promises: 1) in the Desktop properties, use SAVE AS to save your current settings as theme1. Now change the theme to something that Windows offers (like Windows XP), apply it and say ok. Then come back into the desktop properties and choose your own theme again, apply it and say ok. When you look at the properties, is the list pruned to only the ones available in the wallpaper directory? Worked for me. 2) You might try clearing your recently used documents list since you are doing a full clean up.

CSB support still exists on this forum, the GlobalSCAPE forum (where you get the download) and the two user support sites csbsupport.com and samisite.com As long as you still have your serial number, you can redownload, and unlock it. You must download the same version of the software you have been using. If you have been using version 4 then you would download version 4. Your serial number will only work with the version of the software you last purchased. Note: CSB is a WINDOWS only program. Even though I know you can use some windows programs on macs now, I do not know if you will be able to use CSB on the mac or not. Let us know! TCH hosting is FAR superior to the two you mentioned. Uptime, service, communication.... just a few reasons why you should use TCH instead! (I speak from personal experience!) Welcome to the Forum!

TCH does not offer any address that would be like mysite.tch.com (subdomains). You would need a name of your own. You can buy one from TCH (most under $11/yr) or from another source and host the site here.

Cutesite Builder (csb) Has Been Discontinued

Nice to know Kevin. Thank you! It's a wonderful resource. -
Check the scripts site for newer versions than offered in Fantastico. Install it through Fantastico and if Fantastico does not offer to upgrade you will have to upgrade manually. Based on the scripts I have tried in Fantastico (and from reading about it), Fantastico is an easy way to install/uninstall scripts, but I have had to do my own upgrades. It has been pointed out to me that Coppermine installed with Fantastico does notify when its necessary to update. Scripts installed manually do not appear in Fantastico. A Zen Cart manual install that I was working with a while back does not register as installed because Fantastico did not do it.

Try making a mailing list for your Yahoo addresses separately from the other addresses, this time cut down the number of people in the batch. Consider that Yahoo and others may check the number of addresses on the email and route based on the large number of addressees. Send in smaller batches to work around their filters. Like TCH, they will not publish the limits they use.

Mission, the version of the program you have will continue to work. You can still edit your current site, add subdirectories and even build new sites with it. You can take your time looking for and testing other programs til you find one you like, one that fits your needs as well as CSB. No hurry or worry on this. Many of use continue to use it and find it useful. -
Welcome to the Forums! I personally don't mind seeing the "best viewed" statement. At least I know that you are aware that your site may not be optimized for more than one resolution. Using % for tables is preferable to fixed pixels when you have the choice. Then the table can stretch to fit the monitor as necessary while keeping a consistent look. But not all site building software can use % or CSS to define the design. In that case, build for your visitors. If most use 1024x768 then build the site for that resolution. If you have a lot of visitors that still use CRT (older, bigger model monitors) like many companies still have and many homes too, then consider 800x600 as your minimum size and build with that spacing in mind so they do not have extra scroll bars on the bottom.

By the way, the reason we do not discuss security measures, limits, measures taken to test and review is so the bad guys are not provided with a check list. No reason to give them help to use TCH resources
