  1. You can take a look at Microsoft's site in 1996 here: http://web.archive.org/web/19961020014044/http://www.microsoft.com/
  2. I have a friend that has used it when talking to perspective clients. For example, they will show them a previous client's site before in the wayback machine and then after they re-designed it.
  3. After you enter your password, does it ever connect? Which version of Outlook are you using? In Outlook 2000 there was a bug that cropped up for some people that caused Outlook not to store the password. But once you entered it in the pop-up screen it would connect. It would ask you for the password again everytime it tried to connect. Pain in the butt, but if I remember correctly there was a way to fix it. Not too long after it started happening to me, I got a new computer and with a fresh install of Outlook on that computer, it never happened again. I can see if I can find the information at MS site, but..if you are not connecting at all then this probably isn't your problem.
  4. Hi jdoug, Welcome to the family! Try port 26, it's set up as an alternative. HTH
  5. Tony, If this isn't a joke, and you really need help, there are lots of people here that are more than willing to help you, but I think you need to re-ask your questions in a more clear and concise manner. I have no idea what you are asking.
  6. One of my cats growls at the door when someone knocks on it...just like a dog but much quieter. Then she stares at the door, like she's going to EAT who ever is behind it. But as soon as you are within one foot of opening the door, she runs and hides. The other cat was my husband's before we met. After I moved in she hated me. She hated me for about 8 years, then about 2 years ago she decided I was ok, and I could stay.
  7. Here's my attempts...
  8. Heee heee Bob, I think if I looked through some old boxes I might find a copy of WinFax on disk too. Boy this thread is bringing up old memories of WinFax Pro. Quite a few years ago one of my job tasks was to do "fax-blasting" to our clients. Que up 15,000+ fax numbers to 3 8-line fax servers... what a PITA! It would run over several days and if any of the servers stalled it was HECK trying to pick up where it left off... If any of the data entry people mis-typed a number into the database (like typing in 911 instead of 919 for the area code) the police would come calling because the server would try the number 6 times before marking it failed. Good times Thank god for email!
  9. If I remember correctly, Symantec bought WinFax from someone else in the mid to late 90's.
  10. HI Bill, I would be interested. I have sent a PM. Thanks!
  11. As you said, it varies from registrar to registrar, but I can tell you that a client of mine had a domain with register.com and the email address listed was no longer valid. Register.com has (or had, this was over a year ago) an option to enter the credit card number that the domain was originally purchased with (to verify his ownership) and a new email address for the account. You might dig around your account at joker.com and see if they can do something similar.
  12. Which FTP program are you using? Maybe that is the way to start. TCH_Dick said that WS_FTP Pro has a time offset option, and so does Filezilla. If we know which one you are using, maybe someone can tell you how to set yours up to match the time on the server.
  13. Lee, Take a look at this topic at the Gallery Forum. It should tell you what you need to do to get a link back to your website. http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&p=67598#67598
  14. Hi Kevin and Welcome to the Family! Like Bruce said, check the settings in your FTP program. I use Filezilla and in it's settings, you can specify if you want the program to Ask, Overwrite, Overwrite if Newer, Rename or Skip the file. I keep mine at Ask, kind of a pain but keeps me from doing something stupid!
  15. OMG! They are the cutest.things.ever!
  16. Wooo hooo!! Thanks Bill! Rock Sign
  17. Irina, If you happen to have Photoshop, it can create a really simple web gallery for you. You just tell it where the photos are, select a template and a couple other customizations and click ok and it creates it all for you. All you do is just upload the results.* *I have never actually used it on a website before, I am using both Gallery and Coppermine, but I just happened to be playing (wasting time) with Photoshop today .
  18. Hi Alan and Welcome to the family! Were you reading an old forum post? TCH doubled the bandwidth on all accounts in May, so if you are looking at a post older than that, that would explain the difference.
  19. Biff, I am not sure I understand the confusion. There are two components here, your domain(s) and hosting. They are handled separately. Your first step (as I noted above) is to submit a help desk ticket to TCH to advise them that you want to use JONJANDLEWISJ.COM as the domain for your HOSTING account. Then login to your domain at the registrar's site and change the JONJANDLEWISJ.COM DNS to NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM And there you go, that domain is all taken care of. As far as the other domain. It's yours until the end of your contract with the domain registrar. If you don't want it to resolve to your TCH website then login to that domain and change that DNS to what the registrar's default DNS is. Then, when someone pulls up that domain, it will probably resolve to a generic coming soon page. I don't know what that DNS is, that is information you will need to get from the registrar, so I cannot just tell you yes, switch the DNS to that park19.secureserver.net... I'm not sure how I can explain this any better. Maybe someone else can take a crack at it.
  20. Biff, I don't know all the steps you have taken, but here is what I would suggest. 1) Submit a Help Desk Ticket and let support know you want to change the domain on your account to JONJANDLEWISJ.COM. 2) Change the DNS on JONJANDLEWISJ.COM to NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM Now you have a choice. Even though you don't want to use JBJWEBDESIGNER.COM you have the domain for the term that you paid for. You can either change the DNS on that domain to a default DNS from the registrar (which, if someone were to go to that domain would more than likely just take them to a coming soon page) and just leave it like that. However, since you have already purchased the domain, there is really no reason not to use it. You can use it as a parked domain. Which means that if someone were to type in JBJWEBDESIGNER.COM they would go to your site at JONJANDLEWISJ.COM. To do that, enter another help desk ticket asking support to park JBJWEBDESIGNER.COM on JONJANDLEWISJ.COM and then change the DNS on JBJWEBDESIGNER.COM to: NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM Hope that helps somewhat.
  21. Awww... sweet! Although, there are other names I have been called that probably don't fit into that saying LOL ha ha ha
  22. Hee Hee... Yes Jim, I did have a different avatar then, it was a picture of a fish (go figure) LOL!
  23. Hi Rick, Ha ha, no worries about the name! Just thought I would tell you because you may see HTH alot and wonder why so many people have that name LOL Congratulations on getting the cart up and running! Now the REAL fun begins. I check the forums here everyday, so ask away! Also, Zen-Cart's forum is excellent as well, and more than likely any question you have has already been asked over there. Anytime I get stuck, I just search their forums and can ususally find the answer. Just to get you started, if you still want to go with a showcase only (no shopping or checkout) the switch for that is in Admin -> Configuration -> My Store. Change Store Status to either 1 or 2 depending on whether you want prices or not. Oh, also I would definately recommend reading up on the template system and how to properly customize your cart Click Here and the FAQ here. Good Luck!
  24. I voted early too, last friday, but still had to stand in line for nearly two hours . But it was nice just sitting back yesterday and watching the whole thing knowing I had already done my duty.
  25. Hi Rick! Just wanted to let you know that HTH is an abreviation for "hope that helps". You can call me GroovyFish, or Groovy, or my real name is Ellen, your preference You are correct, when you unzip the cart, it will unzip into a folder which you can then rename to your liking. As far as I know, unzipping the patch on the server is not going to update the cart. I have never tried it that way, but don't think it would work. I believe it would just unzip them to yet another folder and not overwrite the existing files. When the patch came out, I already had the cart up and running, so I did it a little differently than you will need to. The patch consists of about 20 files that replace the existing files. Here are the steps I would suggest: 1. Unzip the cart on the server 2. Rename the folder 3. Unzip the patch on your computer 4. Using an FTP program, or File Manager (FTP will be easier and faster) upload each of the files in the patch to their correct locations and overwrite the existing files. * 5. Run the installer (assuming you already have the database created) *When you unzip the patch, it will use the same folder structure as the cart, so it's easy to tell where each of the new files gets uploaded to. But I will tell you now, it is a bit of a pain. To keep track of which files I have uploaded, I print out the readme.txt in the patch, it has a list of the files and check each file off as I upload it. I completely understand wanting to get it right the first time. No worries, soon you will be a wiz at it! HTH (hope that helps! )
