Hi Jeff, I found this topic over at the PostNuke forums: Session Initialisation Failed Error Maybe it will help you out! Looks like the #1 cause is an incorrect database name. HTH!

Check out istockphoto.com. While they are not free, they are just a couple bucks each. If you have a bit more of a budget, try shutterstock.com. You can purchase a month package and download up to 750 images in that month.

Hi Tiffany, Before your domain propagates, you will need to access your website this way: http://72.9.244.74/~username (the username you use to login to cpanel)
-
Tiffany, Try leaving the FTP directory blank, or put public_html in there. I think what it is asking you for is what folder you want to ftp into.
-
You are not both using the same computer, correct? And you didn't send a link to your client with a session ID in it? Had to ask I am not familiar with those contribs (I use Zencart, not OSC) so I am not sure if those are causing your problems... and I am not sure how enabling SSL would cause those problems either. Maybe someone here that uses OSC will have a better idea.
-
Hi monikart, That is very strange. So what you are saying is everyone is seeing the same account? Do you know how these people are getting to your site? Are they coming from search engines? It *sounds* like you could have a link out there with a session ID in the URL.

According to the SSL help pages, you first need to send a help desk ticket in requesting to use the shared certificate: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/sslpage.htm Once that is set up, you are going to need to modify your configure.php files in includes/ admin/includes There will be a define enabling SSL (change to true) And HTTPS Server defines that you will need to add this path to https://serverXX.totalchoicehosting.com/~username/ XX=Your server number ~username = the username you use for cpanel Hope that helps!
-
OWC, First thing is do you have your own SSL certificate, or are you going to use the TCH shared certificate?

Here's my desk. The top is built out of plywood and I put photos of family, friends, pets, places I have been etc. on top and had a piece of plexiglass cut for it. On a bad day, it's nice to look down and see someone's face smiling back at me. Especially my dad, who is no longer with us. You can also see my "assistant" sitting at her window desk.

Accessing Ftp With a browser?
GroovyFish replied to vmckinney's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
You said that having them install Filezilla isn't an option, and I don't know what exactly you need. But take a look at this file management software http://www.invisionfilemanager.com/ Its free and made by the same people that make Invision Power Board (TCH's forum software). I installed it (this was over a year ago) and remember it to be pretty easy to use and customize the look of. There's probably other file management software out there too. HTH! -
Accessing Ftp With a browser?
GroovyFish replied to vmckinney's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
I just tried to ftp to my account with IE (on win2000) and it did not work. Just a blank screen, no folders or anything. I tried it a second time just to make sure and IE completely FREAKED out on me, opening about 50 blank windows and still going before I just shut the system down. Thank goodness for Firefox. -
By the way...the configure.php files are in /includes /admin/includes HTH!
-
Hi Tom, From what I can tell, you are installing OSC manually. Have you tried the one-click install in Cpanel for OSCommerce? I just tried it and it's pretty slick. You just tell it the name of the folder you want the store in, and the login and password you'd like for the admin section and it takes care of everything else... creates the database, user...everything. Looks like the only thing you might need to do is to modify the configure.php file to add SSL support (if you need that) Anyway...if I was going with OSC, that is what I would use....MUCH easier than doing it by hand!
-
Not to harp on this issue...but just to clarify, you created a database, and a database user, and then you added the user to the database? Many of people miss that last step. Double check your database password. The only reason I mention this is because not too long ago I was setting up a zen-cart and chose a long password for my database. And I was having difficulty getting the cart to connect. I changed the password to something shorter and it worked. I am not sure if PhpMyAdmin has a limit on number of characters and truncated my long password... I didn't have time to investigate so I went with the shorter password. (maybe a staff member can confirm?) If none of that works, PM me if you would like me to take a look at your config file.

Same here...the last week or so Vonage ads popping under.
-
Hi Tom, Are you installing OSC from cpanel? I haven't done that before (I have only installed it manually) so I am unsure if the one-click install automatically creates the db for you... If you created the db, make sure you have added the user to the database. Also, for host, try using localhost.

I learned of this site at another forum I visit and I thought my family here might be interested... Lots of good stuff. http://www.d.umn.edu/itss/support/Training/Online/webdesign/ TCH-Bruce - Made link active

Hi msuedkamp, Both links take me to the phpnuke page ... are you sure the old page isn't cached in your browser?

I don't know specifically, but all the forums I frequent have a time limit set up for editing a post. So you cannot edit them after x number of minutes or hours.

Congrats Bill!!
