Hey gang,

Just wanted to drop in and say hello to everyone. I have been offline for the majority of the past 3-5 days with a case of the flu.

Funny story actually, as it all started with a bad sunburn. 3rd degree burns to be honest. Gotta remember the sun screen next time I go to the ballpark.

Then this fever started. It got worse and worse.

The past couple days have been a blur. Lots of sleeping, coughing, whining and in general feeling sorry for me self.

Anyways, I wanted to just let every one know, that I am alive and well.

Glad you are feeling better. I haven't had the flu in long time, but I'm also nursing a bad sunburn. Considering I haven't seen the sun in a while  , I should have wore a shirt to clean the pool.

Im glad you are feeling better, and no being in strong sunlight without protection doesnt go together.

Welcome back HG

P.S Thinks we can drop the idea of HG being a robot now? I mean robots dont get sun burn, maybe rusty but no sunburn. :D

It's nice to have you back and feeling better. Whatever you had must have been real bad to keep you away. Glad you're still with us

Glad you're back - we missed you!

You should see some of the tourists here! It's always sunny and being closer to the equator than where most people are from makes the sun more intense. They ride around on scooters all day drinking and without shirts on and by the end of the day they don't need to turn on the lights - they are glowing enough as it is!

Almost sounds like you had sun poisoning. Bad burns can give you flu-like symptoms (been there, done that <_< )

In any case, glad to have you back!!

Bill glad you are doing better.

Jim, I remember when I lived in Coco Beach watching the tourists lie on the beach for hours.

while we sat in a bar on the beach in the shade,

then they came in later looking like they came from a frying pan, and yeh, I think they did glow <_<

Bill try to take it easy and ease back in,

your family here will always help out.

Holy anteaterburgers, Head Guru!

I once got myself a decent mix of first- (reddening of the skin) and second-degree (peeling) on the entire left side of my body on Acapulco in 1986. (Ironically, I was on the USS Mars then and had had no shortage of sun; in fact, I'd just recently been collecting some rays on top of the ship's flight tower on the Indian Ocean—and, as we know, there is no shade on the Indian Ocean.) :)

But I have never had a third-degree (complete carbonization of tissues) burn. For which I am quite thankful.

Bill, I sincerely hope you've seen a doctor. A third-degree burn is very serious, both in the short and long terms. Among other things, your risk of melanomas is now substantially increased. Also, the risk of infection persists for some time after the injury, so keep the site scrupulously clean.

Best wishes.
