  1. Welcome to the fourms JL! JimE
  2. Tom, Another idea. Please (if you can) install a clean smf on your website, do not import the database and make sure it runs ok and as fast as it should do. If this is successful, we can rule out everything apart from the database. Some suggestions include importing it into say phpBB and then importinging it into SMF. Is there many topics needing emails to be sent out? JimE
  3. Hello, The Alternative, is to have a cheap domain name, something like domainname-game.ending which points to the windows domain host. To be honest, its a much more simplier and easier way of doing things, rather then messing about with DNS which if you do accidentally screw up, both sites become stuffed. Domain names are so cheap these days, its not worth trying to figure another way to do things JimE
  4. Thanks Thomas, downloading and installing now! JimE
  5. Hello and welcome to the forums!, phpBB uses smarty templating (or at least a form of it) and it works just fine here at TCH JimE
  6. Also, you could run a optimize on the database from your phpmyadmin Many things could be slowing it down JimE
  7. Welcome to the forum Brian! JimE
  8. Hello, There is also SMF which can be installed via fantasico. I would strongly recommend againest using 1.2 IPB because of the flaws that originate in it, although I notice some people over at ipsbeyond are trying to fix these. JimE
  9. Hello Laura, In the style for the layer, make sure you have coding: >position:absolute; left:77px; top:42px; Obviously put the correct dimensions in for left and top! let us know how you do JimE
  10. Glad your enjoying your time here Laura Any problems, just shout! JimE
  11. Hello Lee, If you access your cpanel, and then go to file manager. Use this to navigate to the folder containing SMF. I believe the file your looking for is settings.php Open this and scroll down to database info, this is where it shall be contained. JimE
  12. Excellant, I am glad it works for you Remember to delete the upgrade_to_latest.php after you have completed the upgrade JimE
  13. Hello, Occasionally, emails do just dissappear for a multitude of reasons. A few off the top of my head are: Do the emails they have sent but not recieved include attachments? Are they to the same people? Sent from the same computer? Sent on the same isp? Occur every X number or at times of the day? If you still feel there is a problem, please submit a help desk ticket and they will look at it for you JimE
  14. Excellant, well done! JImE
  15. Hello, Having worked at a university where this happens alot, its easy to explain. Most people try to delete a "single" website from the browser cache, not releasing that in IE there is a bug. Delete one website from the front end of IE history, and it will delete in the entire cache when you log off and log back in again Most people don't realise that you can actually delete a "single" website by going into :\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\History and deleting it there IF IE is not running. Firefox provides a handy setup where it won't remember history but it will still remember logins. You can look for cache and MRU files The "talk" is always good and although people find it embarrising, it should not be. Its best to be upfront, honest and direct now then in 3 years time when it all might have gone wrong after a night out. Having your own account is the only real way to go. If friends come around, either have an account for them, or enable the guest account in XP. JimE
  16. Hello, Hmm tough one, I know that the drink in the can, and from fast food like McD's, and from a bottle are all different in taste. I find Pepsi nicer to drink, much because it doesnt feel so bad on my teeth. Coke is nicer when you are really really thirsty best is from a can.... JimE
  17. Glad its all working! JimE
  18. Hello, I doubt there is a way, most people spend ages getting rid of it, let alone trying to get it back. I suggest creating user accounts, although a minor inconvience, its a safer way of controlling what goes on on the computer JimE
  19. Welcome to the forums Digital, Bruce has all the answers! JimE
  20. Welcome to the forums. Heading over to phpBB is the best way to upgrade. JimE
  21. Hello, There is no way around this, its the way Joomla works and correctley so for security reasons. Someone has suggested Mambo explorer but I believe some problems will still exist. JimE
  22. Welcome to the forums, Have you searched the gateway support site for this problem? I would turn on the laptop and run the battery fully down. Then do a 24hr recharge and see if that helps. Also, in the bios, is there anything about the turn on button delay? JimE
  23. Hello, I suggest not only to submit a help desk ticket but login into cpanel and goto myphpadmin Find the table and repair it. JimE
  24. Hello, As long as you are not re-selling the website space, which you don't appear to want too, you do not need a reseller account. With regards to selling, That goes for anybody else, you do not need a reseller account unless you are 'reselling' the web space. I look foward to having you as part of the family JimE
  25. Hello, It probably is. If its a pre-paid reply, then i would not bother with the reply, just seal the envelope empty and post it back. JimE
