You can set your default address in cpanel to :fail:. That will help cut down on a bunch.

That's one of the issues that keeps me from going with Vonage. I've heard (and been told) that Vonage doesn't work too well with DSL. During our hurricanes, cable goes out more than the phone. In fact, during Ivan, we only lost the phone for about 6 hours. During Katrina, cable was the only thing that went out and that lasted for almost a week!

I'd agree with Carl. I went out an bought a new laptop today and the first thing I did when I got home (after backing things up to a DVD) is to dump the default install of Windows XP and loaded Ubuntu linux. Now the only windows machine I deal with is for work!

That's why I bought my satellite radio for my truck (Sirius). My parents got me hooked on The Shadow, The Green Hornet, etc. so that channel is one that I usually check out first. You can get tapes of the old radio shows at Cracker Barrel restaraunts.

I'm kinda in the same boat as Tim. Try remembering several username/password combinations with passwords that change MONTHLY. That's the government for ya! You might also want to look at anypassword. I have mine loaded on a USB drive and synch'd onto my hard drive as a backup. Have had a password issue in nearly 2 years.

And don't forget the "...for Dummies" books! They make things very simple to grasp and understand. I have several.

Try CSS Layout techniques, The layout reservoir, and maxdesign. I've used bits and pieces from each of these sites. While I'm not an expert by any means, I am a lot more knowledgable than I was when I started.

Sounds like another reason to go Linux!

Run it through the validation page and it will give you the line numbers of the error and what's wrong. FWIW...you'll have an easier time getting your site to show properly in most browsers if you try to adhere as much as possible to HTML or XHTML standards. As has been brought up numerous times before in other threads, IE doesn't stick to established standards.

Might want to run your page through a validation page. Also, look into CSS...makes changes a LOT easier.

Hmmmm...the paranoid schizo in me says kinda the same thing. But what it really boils down to is your definition of the terms "valuable data". Living where I live (hurricane alley), I've started saving my pictures and other important documents that I can scan to disk and will be making periodic updates. While I like the idea of convenience, it just sounds too easy for this data to fall into the wrong hands. I'll do my own.

Works good from FL. I would offer a suggestion to put something like "Please wait until page loads" in there. I almost clicked off before it fully loaded. And since there are still people who use dialup, I'm sure they probably would have long clicked off.
