For some reason, I'm thinking that, at the point fjbfour got stuck, if you have your TCH "customer number", you can use that as the username and get it to work...but I could definitely be wrong...

arvind2100...I cannot seem to get your photo gallery opened up! Anyway...if you have photos in there that you can foresee someone hotlinking to for some reason, then I would recomment using this feature. I enabled it long ago, and although it caused me a couple problems in the beginning, the staff here at TCH helped me through it, and I haven't had a problem since!!

Thanks for checking it out, Raul. I think my browser must have been having some sort of issue last night! I got IE to load everything this morning! This would seem to be true, however, when I right click on any of my logo or navbar images and view the properties, the correct path is listed. I will keep that in mind, though, if I have any further problems. I don't know what was going on with it last night. Thanks again for taking a look!

Just added mine...this was the site that led me to TCH if I'm not mistaken!!

With my image paths set to something like: >../images/photo.jpg they are displayed in both Mozilla and Internet stupid Explorer 6, but I cannot view pages correctly using phpDev. With my image paths set to: >images/photo.jpg they are displayed in Mozilla and I can preview accurately in phpDev, but Internet stupid Explorer 6 shows nothing but boxes with red x's in them. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Link is in my signature...Natural Images Photography. IE6 also throws this big gap on the right hand side between the date and my google search function. I can't figure that out either...it displays correctly in Mozilla.

...If you find a simple solution...be sure to share it with the rest of us. I had this same discussion some time ago, and pretty much gave up for the time being. You can enable hotlinking protection, to keep people from hotlinking to your images. But...that doesn't solve theft. Let me do a quick search and find some topics for you... Here's one of the threads I started that touched on several topics: Image Security Maybe this will give you a good start!

Erika...you might find some helpful information in this post: Encode email on website to avoid spam... I haven't made use of any of those suggestions, but it might give you a place to start. From reading different conversations, it's a bit risky to have a "mailto" link on your site. Makes it easy for all those Evil Internet creatures to take a bite out of ya'!!!!

I'm a total noob when it comes to this ecommerce stuff, so please be patient! Let's say I have a Quickbooks merchant account already set up. I'm assuming that if I build by own shopping cart (with agora or something like that) that I will also have to get a SSL certificate...and a payment gateway????? Another question...does anyone have anything good or bad to say about CCNow and Mal's eCommerce services??? All of this is really confusing right now...having just recently learned about IPB and COPPERMINE within a week and a half!!!!!

I think I found the answer to what I was thinking of...but not the answer I wanted. Their is a keyboard shortcut, >CTRL' that allows you to "Balance Braces". Braces meaning {} and () in php. What it does is highlight the text between two braces, making it easier to tell if there is one missing. I knew I wasn't crazy, but I was off a little bit. Maybe this will help someone out there who does a lot of php coding in DWMX...

Welcome the The Family, Bill! I'm not that familiar with Outlook, but I would think that it would need your email password/username. I'm not sure though. Can you post some of the settings that you have for outgoing email, like your smtp settings?

I'm just wondering if a few of you kind folks out there would give me some idea of what to charge to set up and monitor/admister an IPB forum for someone? I don't know what all I'll be doing for this client (site, forum, paypal payments???), but I need to give him some idea of cost...and I just don't know. I don't want to overcharge him, and I don't want to undercharge me!! I've never set up a forum board for anyone, although I have set one up to play with and give him as an example. Anyway...anybody got any advice on what I should charge for the IPB?????

Yes...I hate going to the Macromedia site! It's slow...very slow usually, and their forums are hard to read...not eyeball friendly!! Anyway...I'm sure I'll come across it at some point. I do a lot of messing with code, so I'm comfortable doing that, but I had three or four nested tables the other day with a problem that I couldn't find. I found the missing " seconds before I went cross-eyed!! The keystroke I'm referring to would not have helped me find that...but it sure would have helped me know whether or not I had a missing table, td or tr tag!! Sometimes I think I've reached the maximum allowable limit of knowledge in my brain WAY before I should have!!! woooot

I just checked the Convert function, and it does change all upper-case tags to lower-case tags, enters the appropriate tags at the top of the page (even for php) and fixes tags like <img> that have no closing tags in html. Seems like it does it all...and in a heartbeat, I might add!!!

Yes, this is in the Edit/Preferences/Code Format dialog box. Also, in the File menu is an option to Convert to XHTML. It doesn't convert lower-case tags to upper-case tags, that I can tell. Does XHTML have to be in upper case? I thought it was just more strict with closing tags and stuff like that.

Hi, Norman! Welcome to The Family! Scott will give you tons of advice if you requested a "Search Engine Rank Evaluation" when you submitted your site for the link. But, at a quick glance, I would say that the first thing you can do is bump up the content on your pages. For example, on your news page instead of: say this: In other words, choose appropriate places to use your family name in the content of your site!! If you can come up with some content for your homepage that would allow you to use your family name a few times, that would be a plus. Also, you can tweak the "alt" attribute contents. For example, instead of: make your "alt" attribute say: Add keywords and descriptions for each page as well. This will get you on a good start. Scott will probably have more wonderful thoughts to add!! I spent two or three days making changes after he reviewed my site!!!!!

Some time ago, I came across a particular keystroke(s) that I cannot for the life of me remember. The keystroke allows you, in code view, to start at a particular tag to check and see if all your closing tags are there. I think... Does this sound familiar to anyone? I sure had an occasion to use it the other night when I knew I had a tag problem somewhere but couldn't find it!!! Thanks!
