Thanks, Lianna!! I had not found that one! However, for such a novice as myself, it still leaves some questions unanswered. Like, what are the security risks for setting 777? And why did I have to set permissions to 777 instead of , say, 775 or something like that to apply skin changes to IPB? I know, I'm a little thick-skulled sometimes. Theoretically I understand what the rwx is and the numbers and all that. It's understanding the meaning for actual application that I can't quite grasp. Does that make any sense at all?

I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there proficient enough in Flash to take a look at my simple little movie and tell me what in the world is causing the little problem I'm having??? Frame by frame I've looked in Flash and cannot figure it out. Anyone? Please? I'm at the point of begging!!!! NEVERMIND...I fixed it. I have no clue why the change I made had the effect that it did, but, no matter...it is working now.

I saw the tutorial on how to change permissions on files and folders. I've even done it!! But, maybe someone out there has a moment to expound on the concept of permissions. For example, I changed file/folder permissions to 777 tonight...but, I have no idea what that means. What does 777 mean for security compared to a permission of 644 or any other setting? And, if I change permissions in order to do something (manage and import skins in IPB for example), can I or should I change the permissions back after the change is finished? Stuff like that would be great to know more about.

Neat little trick, PDABruce! Dakota, I got an email such as you are describing a while back, and it was legitimate! It should make you sign into your secureserver.net account when you go to the link.

Both worked for me. Loaded using www first, then it loaded without www. Using mozilla 5.0.

Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. You should be able to follow the given directions from that point on.

Boxfire, Before I started thinking about font size, I was looking at the cell widths and such. I played around and couldn't get it to work perfectly, that's when I kind of gave up and thought it was maybe the fonts. But, since the last reply, I thought I'd tell you what I did...maybe along with something else you do, you will get it figured out. The cell beneath the image...I removed the cell width. The column to the left of that middle cell (width=9)...I removed that number as well. This made progress in that the middle column no longer stretched too far, however, it did not allow that margin of space to the left of that text in the middle. So...maybe that will help if you decide not to rebuild at this time. I do, however, support what "sts" said about making simpler tables instead of one large table. I also know how it feels to think of rebuilding something when you are almost finished!!! Good luck.

After playing with it a bit and messing with your code, I agree with Brian on the fonts. Give it a go with setting them to px and see if that doesn't work.

Taking a wild guess here... I think I read that you should get a notice when you are at 80% of your bandwidth usage. After that, I believe that your account would be suspended until you purchased more bandwidth, or until the next month. I'm only a member here, though...I'm sure one of the higher-ups will verify or correct me. ...Mike beat me to it!!

If you don't have your pages published yet, then you could just change them from .htm/.html files to .php files. Then you wouldn't have to change your htaccess file. If you do already have them published, you could still make the change to .php and then do a redirect in the htaccess file. You would want someone besides me to help you with that, though!! I've started using .php files almost exclusively because of the few tidbits of php code that I use.

I have set up a board on my site and started playing with it a little bit. I'm thinking I can achieve what the client wants by using the Member Groups to seperate hunters from Outfitters. That way someone can't access a forum unless an administrator of the board grants them access. I will also password protect the forums and force everyone to register before using the board. If anyone can think of any "loopholes" I might run into, feel free to share. Thanks, Jack!

I didn't browse the site, but one way that you can do this is to have the original image set as the background in a table cell, then insert a blank image into the cell. Then, when someone right clicks, they get the blank image. I'm sure there are other ways to do this as well, using layers and such.

So, if a person pays and registers with the main forum, is it as simple as then granting that user access to the restricted forums?

I have some very simple thoughts as to how to go about doing this, but sure would appreciate some advice or opinions. I have a customer who wants to do the following: Setup website with a forum for hunters to post the type of hunt they are looking for-- Allow paying "Outfitters" access to the posted information So...I'm thinking I would like to build a board with forums that anyone can access, and then have certain forums accessible only for paying members (kind of like the reseller forum here at TCH). The part I need a little help with is figuring out the best way to go about setting up access for paying "Outfitters". Are there programs that help with this or is it more of a manual process? Nevermind...I found it! Now...to delete the phpBB that I accidentally installed, can I just delete the "/forum" folder? Or is there another way to uninstall?

I'm trying to create a new FTP account to share a file with someone. I setup the account with username, password, and access only to a sub-folder beneath public_html. I have very carefully typed in the password...I even changed the password in cpanel twice to see if I had screwed it up, but it still won't let me connect to FTP. I get a "331 user ok" entry in the log and then a "530 authentication failed, sorry" entry Any ideas as to what I've done wrong?
