  1. If you want to use our DNS and have the external servers you would only need to submit a Help Desk ticket by clicking on the Help Desk link at the top of this page. Include the information you have here and we can set it up. It actually is better doing it that way if you want all your email to go to the external server. Without these changes in our DNS any mail delivered to the email account on our server. It doesn't take long to set up. You would change the nameservers with your registrar to ns1.totalchoicehosting.com and ns2.totalchoicehosting.com and by the time the changes propagate it would be working on here just as on your current nameservers.
  2. Authentication should be checked. When you log on to check your email it does authenticate you so it is possible to send without having it checked but it should be checked. I's not user if you tried using username@domain.com rather than username+domain.com. I have seen Outlook have problems using the + sign. If all else fails I would certainly try a different email client and see if it works. That would point to Outlook as the culprit. The most common problem sending email is with the ISP blocking port 25 so changing to 26 is also worth trying. I wouldn't be surprised to see ISPs start to block 26 as well.
  3. We had temps of 65 last Saturday afternoon. It dropped into the 20's that evening and then came the freezing rain and ice. We missed three days of school nad started two hours late on Thursday. No snow, just 3/4 inch of ice on everything. It's beautiful here today and looks like more ice is due in tomorrow afternoon. Yuck.
  4. It is compressed.
  5. Please submit a ticket in the Help Desk using the link at the top of this page and we can update the database. You will also need to contact the appropriate billing service. For more information please see our Billing Issues page.
  6. You will have to add the DNS entries for them to work. When CPanel creates the subdomain it edits the DNS Zone on our server. If you are using an external DNS service you will have to edit the DNS Zone there to get subdomains to work. If you want the full features of CPanel I advise using our DNS. We can set the DNS to use external mail servers and such.
  7. You can set the costs on your client sites and manage it as you wish. All of the examples you gave are fine.
  8. If you want the backup stored in your home directory choose the first option. It will make the backup and send you an email when complete. You can then use an ftp program to retrieve the file and download it to your local computer. The other two options are if you want the file sent to another server. The email you receieved was just letting you know that the file was stored and ready to be sent ftp. You should have provided an ftp address when running the backup and the server would have tried to send the file to that address. The /tmp directory was actually a server system directory and not your /tmp directory. Once the file was sent (or failed due to not finding the address) that file would be deleted. The advantage of the first method is it is fast and puts the file where you can get to it easily. The disadvantage is it uses your disk space and if you are using most of your disk space already it will often put you over your quota. The advantage of the second is it uses none of your disk space but you do have to have another server or ftp server set up.
  9. Yes, click on the Help Desk link at the top of any forum page and make the request there. Be sure to include your CPanel information and the domain you wish to use.
  10. IE does not seem to like the username format because of the @ sign. You can try using ftp://username%40domain.com:password@ftp.domain.com and see if it will log in. It is best to use a free ftp client such as FileZilla, SmartFTP, or CoreFTP. IE will work fine with the main account using ftp://username:password@domain.com as the format.
  11. Please submit a Help Desk ticket and we can have a look. All requests for perl module installs need to go to the Help Desk so that it can be handled by the appropriate person.
  12. That error is pretty common on Outlook. I get an error as well but have never had problems sending real email. Try sending your own test message and see if it works.
  13. You would need to install it manually rather than through CPanel and install into the public_html directory to get it to work by typing just the domain name. The other option is to put an index.html file in the public_html directory that redirects to the directory. Here is an example:
  14. Submit a Help Desk ticket (click on the link and the top of this page) and I will have a look.
  15. You should be able to see the Spam box in Horde. Please submit a ticket with the username and password for the account and I will have a look.
  16. Gallery creates images for the various sizes so if you have a file called mypic.jpg you will have the original image along with the thumbnail and resized image on the disk. By the way, Gallery is not very tolerant of change and if php changes on the server you will get error messages. If you keep all your images in an albums folder you can send in a Help Desk ticket and we can chmod the whole directory very quickly to resolve the problem.
  17. There is a Webmail Javascript on the Help Pages that will do what you want. It is written for Horde but can be changed to access NeoMail and possibly SquirrelMail. I have not tried rewriting it woth SquirrelMail so I cannot say for sure.
  18. The setting must have been overlooked, sorry. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. I have changed the setting so it will begin to reslove the IP addresses as it runs again. It will not go back and resolve the previously compiled information but should work on future runs.
  19. Right now we can not give a definitive answer on how many days a few days is. It might be optimistic to hope for the weekend. One year ago I decided to move to a new host and jumped on an offer I received in an email. In the few days I was with that host my site was off more than on and tech support took hours to respond. I decided to look around a bit more and ended up here. It took me months to get a refund from the other host and the hassle was not worth it. As Bill mentioned, we will not compromise what we have here by overloading servers. We are making some changes so we can continue to offer the services and support that have led so many people here. If I were looking at a hosting company now I would be patient and wait until accounts are being accepted again and join here.
  20. The 24 to 72 hours is the time it takes for the domain to propagate to servers around the country so that the domain can be resolved to the proper IP address.
  21. Running a whois search I find: WHOIS info Looking up tigbit.com... No match for "TIGBIT.COM". None of our hosting plans include domain registration. This must be done separately. You can register anywhere but to register with us go to our Domain Registration Page.
  22. With some ISPs, yes it is normal. If you will provide the domain name we can check and see if others can see it or if there is a problem.
  23. Welcome, Bruce. You'll do great.
  24. I ordered a set as well. Always looking for something to put up in the classroom and I'm sure the computer room can use some as well.
  25. Somehow the unzip utility had not been added to your server. I have installed it and you should be able to unzip from the File Manager in Cpanel now.
