  1. Because there are no laws defining it as being illegal.
  2. This is what I found for the domain Domain ID:D94373217-LROR Domain Name:PUBLICHEALTHLAW.ORG Created On:25-Jan-2003 04:54:07 UTC Last Updated On:07-Nov-2003 19:16:37 UTC Expiration Date:25-Jan-2008 04:54:07 UTC Sponsoring Registrar:Spot Domain LLC dba Domainsite.com and Name.com (R87-LROR) Status:OK Registrant ID:dsite-182053 Registrant Name:Nunya Bidness Registrant Organization:The Oppression Removal Group Registrant Street1:5440 Orphite Rd Registrant Street2: Registrant Street3: Registrant City:Dumptruck Registrant State/Province:MS Registrant Postal Code:39503 Registrant Country:US Registrant Phone:+1.6010000000 Registrant Email: Name Server:NS9.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM Name Server:NS10.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM So the domain may be yours if this is you, until 2008. The site is still there, well at least there are some of your files so I assume you still have an account.
  3. If I understand where you are heading correctly... In cpanel create the subdomain and it will create a folder with that name. You would then download all the files and folders and then upload them again into this new subdomain folder. Or you could probably submit a help desk ticket and they could copy it. At this point you will end up with two sites, one with the old domain and account and one with the new subdomain. Change the links and let the old just expire.
  4. If you had multiple partitions I would start checking those. Maybe the OS was not on C but on another partition. If the boot.ini is pointing to the wrong partition or specifies the wrong OS for the partition it will not work. Since you are using the boot.ini from a different computer this could explain things.
  5. Or you can try the Receovery Console. Try this web site h_tp://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000627.htm
  6. Thats what I was afraid of If these are identical PC's this would be possible, but if they are not you could run into problems. The files tell the system where to boot and what to boot. If there are different boot partitions on each you will get crazy results or nothing.
  7. What OS? Where did you get this NTLDR, your PC or the one in error? You need the NTLDR, BOOT.INI and NTDETECT.COM, and possibly NTBOOTDD.SYS.
  8. Well From what I have read on it Giant AntiSpyware is suppose to work on it. I would suggest you disconnect from the internet. Start up in safe mode and try Giant anmtispyware again.
  9. See if this page helps. You need to check the specs in the manual or on their web site. Try this Kingston site: h_tp://www.kingston.com/tools/umg/umg06.asp
  10. Now this maybe wrong but it might explain things. The email to you was meant as a reply to someone else, so it makes no sense to you. Working in Support I have first hand knowlege of this happening . We work with several support tools and when things get hectic errors sometimes happen and we lose track of where we are and who we are talking with. we have lots of windows open and sometimes the wrong reply will go to the wrong customer.
  11. Looks like the answer would be to ask the ones who asked you I found links to "estetica" but not "dermoce".
  12. No offense taken over here Raul and hope you don't take any with my posts. Besides what my signature says I am not a MS diehard, I just a make living from MS We're at a turning point and it will be interesting to watch in the coming years as MS's market shares slides downward. Once other company's start catching up they will start feeling the heat from users as they discover bugs, exploits. and "features" that were not intended to be there. Looks like I'll need to get some Linux certs so I can stay employed the few years I have left till retirement
  13. BiologyMad, hopefully you have the problem straightened out and I see your web site is back up. If I had this happen to me once before I would pay closer attention to awstats and watch the bandwidth myself. Now after seeing that your site was online something caught my eye and hopefully bandwidth will be your only problem. You might want to read this other thread, it may help avoid other issues. http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...indpost&p=59393
  14. Sounds like a winner!
  15. Back from a quick lunch. My post here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...indpost&p=61026 A good info site posted by Andy in that thread: h_tp://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html Spybot: h_tp://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html AdAware: h_tp://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5
  16. LOL Raul, Just keeping the balance as Rob says. But this one also affects IE if I read the article correctly. It was confusing at first and seemed to be pointing away from IE. But I believe it said it also affected IE. I am waiting for other articles on this to get a better picture.
  17. I don't think you were hit that hard, its just a combination of events that appears to you as being excessive. This was probably one of the hundreds of email virus that are out now. Nothing you can do and you are protected with Nortons. I think the other 3 you said you found were just left-overs or trojans dropped by infected web pages. You did not specify any names so I am just guessing here. Without names from Norton I can't look them up to see or explain what you had. I posted a reply to someone in another thread and I'll track it down for you to read, Instead of retyping it all again. But I have to run out for lunch right now and will look when I get back. The programs are AdAware and Spybot.
  18. Hi VI, do you have the current Windows updates installed? The recent SP2 update to Windows XP had a fix for a security hole which allowed people to install a virus on computers without using email or the web. Do you have a firewall installed? Do you have Spyware and Adware programs installed and do you regularly run them. All these are necessary to protect yourself. There are ways that your system could be infected and the above are a few more things you will need to start doing. Always keep up-to-date with Windows Update. Regularly scan for Virus and also ad scan for ads, trojans, and Spyware.
  19. Sounds like it could also be a system slowdown because of Spyware or trojans. I would suggest running Spybot and Adaware to clear these out to see if thats the problem.
  20. h_tp://www.internetnews.com/security/article.php/3440971 "It's not rare when a flaw disables Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE), but it is rare when the same flaw affects the alternatives. "
  21. A 15 minute SLA is standard in the industry ... and they pay a very high price to get it! Here in the shared server market where you are charged the price of a Happy Meal for service...I don't think so . I'll be happy just to see a server status available in real time on the web.
  22. Thats already part of monitoring. The "ticket" is probably manually opened by the Data Centers monitoring group. There is also probably an automatic email generated and sent to Bills pager when the problem is serious enough (server down) As far as sending something to "any users on the server" thats stretching it a bit. They do send out for down times that are for extended periods but down times are mostly a temp problem and it comes right back up. Notification for these would be unnecessary.
  23. That is correct...but you will not be able to "view" them easily. You will have to download the zip, save it to the hard drive, unzip it and then open the file from a program.
  24. The topic above says "Format A Hard Disk?", yet the body of the note says "I've got some floppy disks that I want to format". Which is it? Assuming its a floppy and not the hard drive I would recommend you not use the quick format. Especially if these are old floppy disks. A quick format will only clear out the FAT (file allocation table) and leave all the data intact. A full format will not only clear the FAT but it will rewrite all sectors and clusters and if it finds any errors will flag them as unusable. It may take a little longer to format the disks but you will have a better chance of reading your data after its been written.
  25. Sometimes too much information will cause more headaches than its worth. I can see the concerned users now wanting to know how to figure out exactly what part of his data was "lost" in the 4% packet lost field Personally I would perfer all the data you are willing to give me and I'll ignore what is not needed and use what is.
