  1. The limit for number of emails leaving the TCH email servers is 50 in 5 minutes.
  2. Sorry I jumped to the wrong conclusion.
  3. The starter plan is 4 bucks and comes with a guarantee. Giving people a sub-domain for free for a month is not very cost effective. But $4.00 I believe is very affordable. Get the starter and if you are unhappy you can get your money back.
  4. I use WS_FTP95LE. Its under OPTIONS and select the "Sessions(cont'd)" tab. See if its the same in WS_FTP Pro.
  5. I thought it was a bit over-the-edge when it reported my extra copies of mIRC as being possible threats. I have several copies of it located in separate folders to keep my different servers and ID's available to run at the same time.
  6. Does dick get half the winnings?
  7. The article calls it a security program but talks mostly about the Virus program. And also mentions the spyware program from Giant, which was mentioned in another topic here today. h_tp://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/01/06/microsoft.antivrus.ap/index.html
  8. Run these and see if they help. Spybot: h_tp://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html AdAware: h_tp://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5
  9. You're welcome Thomas. You can pick up a card cheap.
  10. Try the suggestions here: h_tp://www.answerbag.com/q_view.php/3962
  11. Ok, I was hoping it would show us something about 1.1 or 2.0. Have you gone to the web site for the MP3 player and checked for a forum or support that may help?
  12. At work I have two monitors on my computer and I run a virtual Desktop with 5 different desktops that have different windows of programs or Browsers running at one time. We also have 6 huge projection screens on the wall in front of us and on one on the right is CNN and the one on the left is the weather channel. Thats 9 hours of both at the same time. When I get home I am downstairs at my desk at the computer with the TV on beside me. Thats a lot of both
  13. Try downloading and running this, it will at least tell you if the USB drivers are correct. h_tp://www.download.com/USB-Evaluation-Utility/3000-2110_4-4616192.html
  14. Yes you can purchase USB 2.0 PCI cards. Let me look around and see where it will say if you have 1.1 or 2.0.
  15. Thomas, go into Control Panel | System and click on the Hardware tab, click on Device manager and scroll down the list till you find the USB controllers. Is there one listed for USB 2.0 Enhanced or USB 1.1? You will need USB 2.0.
  16. Thanks Raul, this looks different then the previous ones. The hole was discovered in October and they are still working on the fix. This is not a surprise since this is typical MS stragedy. But the suggestion to contact the FBI is new, and the suggestion to call MS support for help will flood the system if this a huge base of infections. I would guess this is a targeted attack and will be very few reports. It probably involves lots of money and the intended audience will be a select few and not the mass majority as the other trojans target. They go for one or two positive hits, take the money and close up shop and run, only to setup else where to hit again. I'll be watching to see how this one turns out and see how close my theory is
  17. LOL well we probably could...
  18. Thanks Thomas, you beat me to it

    Why?

I understand and until monday that was exactly what I did, just pull out the recovery CD and be done with it. BUT its just gotten to be a huge chore downloading all the patches and updates coming from MS. These alone add at least 2 hours to the completion. And then I have to load all the other software... Now I'll find out how much easier it is to "recovery" the kids PC's after they are totally corrupted.

    Why?

Yeah Rob, I have been backing up all my computers here at the house with the Ghost version 9. So far its been great...but it wouldn't work "exactly" the way I wanted it to work. I wanted to be able to backup all (4) PC's on my home network from MY PC. I have a 250GB hard drive and what better way to store all the backups. I am in the process of backing up one PC a day and then I transfer the file across the network to a folder on my big HD. This fine. Next project will be to create an image on DVD and see how the restore goes. I have a spare 40GB drive that I'll use to restore each system to see how well it works off each DVD. The problem I see is buying a bunch of DVD's to store all this data Now Nortons also has a Drive Image program and this maybe more of what you are looking for. Ghost should work as well.
  21. Lets see, basically I would say the processor doesn't matter, a laptop is a laptop. You get one for its portability. The higher the price, the faster and more options will be available. You will be able to do this on most any laptop you get. Yes there is, but they all will do what you want so the difference doesn't matter. There are other points that determine which laptop is cheapest, how much RAM, disk space, CD-RW or DVD , CPU speed, all these will drive a price up or down. The processor is just another small part of the total package. Most laptops come with both internal modems and ethernet ports. If they don't they have a PCMCIA port and you can purchase a card for what you need. No, it doesn't mean "only for wireless" it means it "supports" wireless internally. For instance some laptops come with a little switch and you can turn wireless off and use an ethernet cable instead. Whatever meets the price you want to pay, the higher you make this the better the laptop you will get. Most already have XP loaded. Office is not usually pre-loaded on new computers and you may have to purchase this. The "Teachers" edition is going for about $129. What I would recommend is you take a day or two and go Laptop hunting and bring a notepad and pen or pencil. Find your computer stores and visit each one and take notes on what they have and the price. Try Best Buys, Office Depot, Circuit City or whatever stores are in your area. DO NOT buy the first one you like, spend a little time and visit the stores and collect the info and take it home to review it. Find the one with the right price with most of the options you want and then go and get it. Good luck.
  22. Well the first thing I would do is back out to where you were before the problem started. Remove the drive and use the System Restore to return the drivers to the point before you installed it. If everything works then the problem is with the DVD and its drivers. Now you work from there to figure out how to get it to work
  23. There have been more then 1 hotfix for SP2, there were 5 on December 14th and 1 on Dec 1st. For a complete list check here: h_tp://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx For your Belarc problem I would check to make sure you have the most current version (6.1f) and check with them if you still have the SP1 reporting problem.
  24. Well its not free but I had to return some USB parts my wife purchased for me and had to buy something, so it was sorta free. Norton Ghost 9.0 All my friends speak well of it and I've wanted to try it for years, so nows my chance. Built in schedule, works on Network drives. Works on CD or DVD, USB devices, JAZ, Zip, SuperDisk. Full or Incremental backups. Keeps a history. Email Notification. Backup Dual Boot. Looks like I'll like it.
  25. This just came up last month...see what was mentioned then. http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...indpost&p=95721
