I'd start one thing at a time, if it doesn't work try the next. Start with the drivers for the USB Ethernet cards. Next, The firewall is quick and simple. Go to Control Panel, select the Windows Firewall, select OFF. If this does not fix the problem with file sharing then come back turn it back on and try the other drivers.

What have you changed or added recently? This doesn't change without a reason. Did you install SP2? Did you install a firewall? Did you remove file and print sharing? If you installed XP SP2 this may explain things, you can run thru the Network setup wizard and setup file and print sharing and possibly turn the firewall off to see if this corrects the file sharing problem.

Ok Mike, the Yellow exclamation in device manager means there is a problem with the driver for the device. You either find the correct driver and load it or you ignore it. If you have internet connectivity and everything seems to be working, I would just ignore it.

I didn't think you had "raid" either thus my comment about a phantom device. What exactly are you seeing in Device Manager about a RAID?
-
Then you need to find the disk that you got with your cards and routers and install them again.
-
Hmmm, not knowing what you have over there I would say you are seeing these "problems" because you don't have either of these components and they are phantom devices. At least for the raid controler. Do you have "raid" drives setup on one of your systems? The host to host bridge is probably your USB connections for the network cards or the Router or cable modem. Check the connections and make sure they are seated properly. Then check the drivers, remove and reload if necessary.

Ms Buys Antispyware Co. Giant Company Software
Madmanmcp replied to TCH-Dick's topic in Open Discussion
Normally MS just puts their own programmers to work and writes their own and then offers it for free to kill all the compition. Here they purchased a known brand and will slap thier logo on it to enter the field. -

I would think simply using a password protected folder would be all thats needed. Place the pages and data under it and anyone attempting to go there will need to authenticate. Using PHP to authenticate a menu with the links only protects access to the menu. If someone knows the links they can still gain access to the pages by manually typing the URL. Not very secure in my opinion.

Sorry if I seemed to "jump" on you Thomas, that was not my intent. I was trying to explain why I didn't think forcing a full screen on folks was a good idea. Even after the explanation I think I see a possible reasons why I wouldn't like it but that will probably need a little testing to see if its true. What I am thinking here is a Windows "feature" where it automatically "remembers" the IE window size and position when you close it. So if someone opens this christmas card and it opens full screen and with minimal buttons. They will click the "X" and windows will remember these settings when they open the browser the next time to browse and will have to reset everything back they way they had it. Again sorry if I seemed harsh, I was just replying based on the info at the time

Thomas, the majority of folks out there do not want you messing around with their browser size. We have it set to a specific size for a reason...and we want to keep it that way. As others have mentioned, if I run into a site that insists on resizing my browser I leave with out reading and I don't go back. Its rude to force someone to do what you want or to not get their approval before doing it.

What do you mean I have dinner stuck between my teeth?

You're welcome and thanks for the link to that freeware program. I'll have to take a look at it and keep it for future references.

An all-in-one scanner will not save a scanned document by itself, you need to purchase an additional "OCR" (Optical Character Recognition) program to convert the scanned image into a text type format. Don has suggested Textbridge and I use Omni Page to save as document formats such as MS Word.

Purchasing a second domain and parking it will leave him exactly where he is now...except a little poorer and with two URL's that don't work. He needs to upload some web pages to get the current site working. He has an account here and he has a domain pointing to here. When you go to the domain you are shown his files and folders. A couple of image files and an image folder and so on. I think nedwreck was asking the wrong questions initially.
-
You don't need a new domain, your old one is yours till 2008 and it is already pointing to TCH. Just use what you have. passwords are case sensitive, be sure you have the case correct. If not submit a helpdesk ticket and have them help you with the forgotten password. You are missing the default start page, an index.html for instance. Without one of these default startup files you only get a directory listing of all the files and folders. So start with that, build your first page and run with wht you got...you are already set with everything else.

Does Tch Allow For Code Repositories?
Madmanmcp replied to codemaster10000's topic in Pre-Sales Questions
"This document describes the steps necessary to setup a very network-secure CVS server, allowing SSH access to chrooted CVS repositories." From what I understand TCH does not allow shell access anymore on shared servers, you would need a dedicated server. And on dedicated servers you are pretty much free to do what you want. -
Hows this going Rob? Did you recover or reinstall?
