  2. Your friend is not getting to the page via a proxy server is he? If so maybe the proxy server is stripping the referrers.
  3. Problem is you are never going to be able to hide your email address from a spammer. If you have a domain you WILL get spam. No if, and or but about it. It wouldn't take someone very long to attempt every possible email address you can think up for your domain. Most people are lazy and use their name and most names are common (to someone). Unless you had an email address like 6BNW-99WZ@yourdomain.ext and who could remember that or would want to give it out to someone you are going to get your share of spam.
  4. I don't use Zone Alarm but that seems to be the root cause of the problem. He will have to create a rule that passes the referrers when using the subdomain links. Sorry don't know how to make that happen. Maybe one of our Zone Alarm users can help with that.

  6. In some peoples eyes it may be considered SPAM. For my work email I have links in my email footer that go to our company website but for my personal email I do not have any links to my personal site. If you are posting to newsgroups check their FAQ and see what they allow. On forums check their Guidelines. As long as you follow the rules you should have no problems.

  8. I have installed Wordpress many times and have never encountered this error. It sounds like a PC side problem other than a WP problem. I would try disabling Zone Alarm and trying it. Was the subdomain created before the install of WP? What URL are you using to access the Admin panel? Have you tried using? >http://yourdomain.ext/subdomain/wp-admin/admin.php Did it work?

  10. Please open a ticket with the help desk. The mods do not have access to the servers or your account information. Thanks. You can find the link at the top of this page or in my signature.

  12. I agree that help should be given to those having a problem instead of just saying switch to something else. I'm probably even guilty of it myself. But like Tim's family switch I did the same with my parents when we gave them a new computer. Since I am the one they come to when they have problems I am making them use what I feel to be a safer alternative. They are not as computer literate as I would like them to be and I know I'll never get them to that point. When I switched broswers on them they questioned my reasoning and I explained the why's and what for's to them and showed them how to use it. I also tossed out their Outlook Express for Thunderbird. And I even removed any links to IE and OE so they couldn't be launched accidentally.
  13. Paulo, congratulations on your 2-year anniversary. Glad you are happy with the service you are receiving and thank you for the nice comments.
  14. You could set a cron job to run it. If it doesn't work, then ask the help desk to run it for you.

  22. Welcome to the forums Darcy, 1. Support is in house 2. None of our servers the servers are blacklisted. When they happen to get listed it is taken care of rapidly. 3. Someone else will have to answer this one. 4. Your email will either hit your new hosting mailbox or your current mailbox until propagation has completed. You should be able to access both by their IP number until propagation has completed.

  24. Visitors can enter comments in Wordpress but not images. They may be able to upload images with the Gallery plugin though. Or there may be a plugin that allows for it in Wordpress.
  25. I have not played with Joomla but most CMS software uses a database and has a config file. I would check the config file and see if there are any paths defined in it. If so they would have to be changed for it to work.
