Last night I installed a cordless webcam from Logitech, on sale at a local store (with an no-return, all sales final policy ) This time it was worth the gamble. Couldn't afford a decent wireless nanny cam so this is next best. The receiver is about 3' away from my CPU and wireless router. The camera is several rooms away sending signals through walls just fine. Most webcams have better quality images, but for what I want, it is PERFECT. I have 3 cats. One of them is too smart for his/her own good doing things that could be dangerous... Well, this little camera is set for motion activation and with the lights on, I can get a decent image of who is doing what. Already caught some strange behavior and it's been FUN to spy on them. If I am away from the computer, I am still notified by sound that a photo has been taken. Currently on the floor, one of the cats keeps coming up to the camera and nosing it forcing another image. Could set it for video or still images. Stills are fine and take up less space. My boss has 9 cats and 2 dogs (a great dane and other medium breed) that live in the house with her and her husband. She is also fostering 4 kittens til they get adopted. Recently someone has started marking one area of the guest room. I told her this camera setup would be PERFECT for her to find out who so that one can be segregated. Probably needs to be separated from one or two specific others. I will be taking it to her to help id the culprit. Worth the price, and fun to use.

Welcome to the Forums! Inside your public_html folder you can make a folder to hold your images. You can call it anything you want, people often choose images as a folder name. Or you can use a different name. I use external for the folder that holds my images that I allow external linking (that I specify). Then upload your images to that folder. If you do not want the DIRECTORY list to be seen by typing in http://www.yoursite.com/images/ then in open NOTEPAD to a blank page, name it index.htm and upload that to your images directory. When the address is typed in for the directory, a plain white page is loaded in the browser, no code, no file list. Then please read this post about stopping hot linking.

Taking Bruce's explanation a little bit further... Have you used WORD or WORDPERFECT, etc? If so, you will know that you can type a sentence and highlight it, then turn on the BOLD for that sentence. The next sentence would not be bolded. Then if you wanted to have another header area, you would manually have to BOLD it again. That's the way web pages were coded too. Turn something on, then turn it off... But WORD and WORDPERFECT also offer STYLES. You can define a specific font, bolding, size, etc for your headers, your table text, your default text in the document . Then as you build the document, you can assign a style to the text so it all remains the same. Your document is built cleaner and faster. And much easier to maintain. You want to take the bold off all the paragraph headers? Just change the STYLE code and all areas of the document that use that style automatically change at the same time! CSS does the same thing for your web pages! Scripts..... Come in all sizes... Small scripts can create simple little slideshows for pictures, make MENUS, could have a scrolling marquee, or big things that use databases to help you search your site. Possibilities are endless. Some are FREE some are PAID. Check out Dynamicdrive.com for ideas. For example, take a look at this nice little slideshow.... instructions and SCRIPT are posted. http://dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex14/fadeinslideshow.htm

Please open a help desk ticket. Techs will check if you have the front page extensions installed for your site and check that you have access to them

And yet one more.... Welcome to the Forums!

Haven't worked with this yet. Hang in and I'm sure someone will be able to suggest something.

Can't help on this issue, but still wanted to say: Welcome to the Forums!

Haven't looked through all our new choices in Fantastico...might have something in there to work for you. Otherwise you might consider a separate program like AMEMBER (several folks around here used the FREE version when they had it available) and it still gets high reviews http://www.amember.com/ Or Sitelok http://www.vibralogix.com/sitelokpw/ or similar program. There might be some open source versions too but have not found them.

My little tutoria site shows as 146,367 moving up with a bullet! According to them, in the last three months my site's reach went up 67%.

Flash Buttons Together In The Same Flash File
Samrc replied to ivanmax's topic in Dreamweaver & Flash
Which flash program are you using? And depending on what you are going to be doing, you might want to read another current thread for some interesting new problems with using flash for menus and buttons thanks to a new patch for internet explorer.... http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...showtopic=27577 -
Don, I was referring to the CSS page. My IE (not Firefox) browser renders the menus fine, but when you mouseover the graphic change gets a white flash between colors....causes a blinking or jumpy effect on some of the menus. The ones with light colors have less noticeable flash of white... Wish I could capture what I see but it happens too fast. Using ie6 all patches applied. Nope don't think I said that, did I?
-
Why do some of those BLINK? Movement is quite jumpy with many of them in IE, while being very steady in Firefox.

There are programs like AMEMBER that have password assignment/member logins. Or you could choose to use WEB PROTECT, built into cPanel. Your visitor would fill in a form for you to review and you could set the password/user name combination. Your visitor would not be able to change the password. Depending on the number of users, this may suit your needs and requires NO SCRIPT. You just assign the folder you want to be password protected. Then any page or folder within that folder must have login to access.

Science experiments are legal. 1) which would reach the ground faster from a 3 story building: a feather or a very large door stop? 2) which would sink if tossed into a swimming pool: a ping pong ball or a very large paperweight?

Congrats Tim!!!

When I first viewed the page I could not see the boxes. After patching, I certainly do see them and each button must be activated separately. So now to use the menu, I have to DOUBLE click on an item just to get to the linked material. What a pain in the neck. Just checked some applets, embedded sound and had to click to activate. The page with sound had a POPUP to activate Active X as you enter the page. But strangely, a little video I have embedded as a sample still runs fine with no warning. Using this code: <EMBED SRC="filenamehere.ASF" AUTOSTART="TRUE" LOOP="FALSE"></EMBED> With this bonehead move, MS just royally ticked off a ton of people! I see a new wave of people moving to Firefox to get away from this wacky stuff.

I use it for limited ads or simple presentations. Had to recently talk someone out of building a FLASH INTRO (with nothing else on page). Can't stand them myself and they can negatively impact rankings. And now that IE has that patch that requires user to click to activate each menu choice in a flash piece, I am REALLY glad I talked him out of the flash intro that had a grid style menu on it.

???? Really? I just thought it gave me a legit reason for spending so much time here.

Excellent description! If you have your computer set to display icons then you will prefer X anyway. I like the text links grouped by topic, that's why I have blue lagoon. Visit this page to see a screen shot of x: h**p://cpanel.com/images/cPanel_ss/cpf_ss1.jpg And this one to see a screen shot of blue lagoon: h**p://www.123reseller.co.uk/images/control_skin3_large.gif

Yup. Can see the map, and yes some change from white to blue on mouseover.
