Unfortunately, even if you use a PHP form that does not give your email address to spam spiders, if someone sends you cute cards, or other things from sites that gather email addresses, that address can be sold to spammers. I had a personal email address that was spam free for almost 6 years, never posted, never used on the web to sign up for anything. It has been captured because a friend filled in the address at a site to send me a goodie.... They had the best intentions, but now I am being flooded on that account.
  3. You will need to open a ticket to change the skin. All the accounts I work on started with the standard layout and I had them changed to use my preference: BLUE LAGOON skin. Sorry I don't know what else is available. Someone else will surely respond with that.

  6. Yes there is....I just ate it. Filet mignon, sauted green beens with mushrooms, scalloped potatoes, tossed spinach salad, beans, 3 kinds of sausages, all the MT DEW, Pepsi, Dr Pepper or Sprite you can drink and tiny cookies for dessert. I love my job! And now....only 3 minutes til 3PM EST!
  7. Don't bother....I had mine out at age 12 and at age 26 they came back! It's gonna be a good day: The owner of the company I work for is grilling STEAK for our employee lunch this afternoon. We had an all-time record month sales and he likes to share the excitement. Then on top of it, I get to see yet another MAJOR annoucement about TCH! Wednesday I went to see our Orlando Magic B-Ball team win the last couple seconds of the game.... My heart can not take so much excitement in one week! How about postponing the announcement for a few days?

  9. The leg lamps are great....my coworker gave one to her husband with a MAJOR AWARD certificate for 15th wedding anniversary! Could it be that servers are being upgraded? Nope already done. Could it be that we are getting more easily installed scripts? Nope already done. How about offering more reliable servers, great support and reasonable prices? Drat! Already done. Are you buying out another hosting company, expanding the already growing family? Wait, you've done that too! Good gracious.... what more is there????? The only thing that I can come up with is a tech support phone line for those folks that prefer phone support. What time on Friday will we know? Is that daylight savings time or not?

  12. I'm working with ZEN CART on one of my accounts now. Got it installed last night and think it will work for that account as long as I can get a form to send with pricing, but does not charge cards (notification only). (There are 8000 settings to be tweaked! ) But on the other two, I don't want anything that elaborate. Bascially simple database searching with the results in a table like Excel. No pictures, prices, forms, something far lighter weight. Been looking but haven't come across anything yet....

On another thread, surefire gave this instruction to get content into a mySQL database: 1- Convert excel to csv 2- Fire up phpmyadmin from cpanel link 3- upload csv data using link "Insert data from a text file into the table" 4- Crack open a beer Sounds good. Nice instruction for the upload of the data to online database. I have a followup question.... Once you have the data in the database, what program/script would you folks recommend to do a simple search/retrieve on that database online? Looking for two diffenernt projects (one on TCH server, one on a windows server elsewhere ....can't get them to move here....) Example: Build a simple database file with product names, product category, manufactures, simple descriptions of the products, links to manufactures sites (no pricing, no shopping cart). - SEARCH for staplers: Web page results shows listing in a simple table that shows the product names, manufactures, simple descriptions of the products, links to manufactures sites - SEARCH for JoSchmo manufacturer: Web page results shows listing in a simple table that shows all choices for that manufacturer: the product names, product category, simple descriptions of the products
  14. Had something quirky happen today for my personal site. Sent in a HELP TICKET and within minutes the problem was resolved. The ticket system is fast, easy and reliable. The techs responding are patient and know what they are doing resolving issues in a timely manner with a pleasant demeanor. Though the cause of my problem was not completely known, I was satisfied with the result and the service! TCH is top notch for service, problem resolution and speed. KUDOS given! Any host can SAY they have uptime, service, good prices, and quality hardware. TCH DOESN"T JUST SAY IT....THEY DO HAVE IT ALL. Thanks again folks!
  15. Resolved while I was at work today. Got home and I HAVE PHONE SERVICE! 3 days without service on absolutely perfect weather days yet their auto message says my problem was caused by THE HURRICANE. My phone service provider must have psychics working for them...a hurricane in the future must have affected my service now. Good thing I am not on a dial up connection! Hey Bill (Head Guru)......are you interested in starting a PHONE COMPANY? I would be your first client!

  17. LOL.....I realized my goof and when I finished editing I saw your answer too! By the way, you mention that Fantastico has an icon of it's own. In my theme, I do not have icons! I have lists of links, divided in categories like: EMAIL, Site Management, CGI Scripts, etc... I like this format better than icons but am curious where the Fantastico link will appear...
  18. Just took a look at two of the accounts I work with and neither show Fantastico in cPanel. On both accounts (one on server 26 and one on server 29) I have the bluelagoon theme. Does that make a difference? Where should I find this new feature listed? Thanks...off to check the 3rd TCH account... .....reread Bill's announcement..... "Over the next two weeks we will be implementing Fantastico Deluxe across our server farm. We have set a completion date of 3/27/2006." ...... ok.....so maybe my servers are not loaded yet.....
  19. HOLY COW!! WHAT A GREAT GIFT! UNBELIEVEABLE!! THANK YOU!!!!!!! How can this benefit be added to all accounts without greatly increasing pricing? I was just at the beginning stage of loading Zen Cart on a TCH account. Will wait now until I can do it automatically! (Can't seem to get the mysql database/username/password combo to work correctly so will be THRILLED to do it automatically!)

  21. I deal with telco companies for work. Last year we had MAJOR problems with our T1 going down taking our internet, phone, fax and believe it or not, our alarm system with it. When we moved into the new building a year ago, the phone lines were supposedly duplicated from the old office. Took months to get the issue (new incoming cable, new cable pair down the street, new part at the cable house, blah blah blah) resolved, get new copper analog lines installed (one for backup of the fax number, one for the alarm line). The famous lines are "It's not our fault, it's the company that installed the lines...that maintains the lines....that services the T1....the other guy did it!" I negotiated a SWEET new contract with a different telco company. Has been smooth sailing for our office since the switch. Much better response time and communication. But at home is a different story. Residential service is last on the list of priorities. COMMUNICATION is key. You would think that telecommunication companies would understand that!
  22. NEED TO VENT..... I have been without any phone service to my home for two days now. This morning I was told I would definitely have service by 7pm....no details, no information. Tonight, after 8pm, I still have no phone service. After talking to 2 people tonight I finally have been told a second person must come out tomorrow to check cables. Most irritating are: 1) When you call in the first thing you are told is "in your area, difficulty on the line is caused by...THE HURRICANE." Say WHAT? Orlando received (relatively) minor damage in 2004 and 2005 and has had no significant long term damage. How can the phone company blame THE HURRICANE (which one???) for problems that have not existed before during or after the storms???? 2) I have had to be transferred time after time after time after time (eating up my cell phone minutes) and repeating my phone number, my lack of dial tone and then finally arriving at the final menu that confirms I have already reported a problem...."please say good bye or just hang up!" HUH???? I want to know information...I want resolution....I want to know why my phone is the only one on the block without service! (I have a credit with them so it is not a billing issue!) When TCH has a problem with technology, it is reported and resolved. I have seen posts by the Head Guru and the support staff explaining servers being updated, components being reinstalled, initialized, progress made... Customers are not kept in the dark. We KNOW folks are working on our behalf. WHY OH WHY can't other companies learn that we LIKE to be kept informed like TCH does! Again I am reminded tonight about how special the service we have with TCH really is!
