Stop the presses.

I thought it would be a valuable public service announcement to make sure you all knew not to let your kids play warcraft for 36 hrs strait.

I guess its not good for you. (per this article)

While I haven't read this before today, I had enough insight to stop my kids from playing after 34 hrs strait. Boy am I glad I followed my instincts on that one!

I cant believe the things that we try to blame on other people.

It's times like this that I really wish that people with certain mentalities were sterilized.

I'm happy I didn't start playing online games.

Now if I can just do the same thing with programming and creating websites.

/*me goes out and gets another Mountain Dew.

36 hours straight of anything is not good for you if you are mentally unbalanced.

As for doping up the kid? Not necessary. If I weren't getting old and my body screaming at me I could do it today... with the right game. I've done it gaming and programming in my younger days... you know, back when you could afford to crash for 2 days without worrying about jobs and stuff. :D

Can you say DUH!!!!!!!!!!? :D

I've never managed to game for more than 6 hours... after which I just so tired (and, frequently, bored), I'd have to stop and do something else for a while before getting back to it.

Can you say DUH!!!!!!!!!!? :)

I'll try it:

Duh!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep. I can. :D And I agree!!

I've never been a gamer. Unless you count Freecell or Sudoku. But I don't think our hardcore gamers would count either of those.

ok this is really stupid! 36 hours gaming. i can stay awake for 48 hours without sleep sometimes 3 days at a push and survive on as little as 1-3 hours sleep.

but to sit at a desk for 36... ridiculous!

there was the person who ided on WoW not too long ago, and would i be right in saying they had an "clan" funeral then would (i dont know) i be further more right in saying rivals crashed the service?

The guild of the person who died held a funeral service online in the game, and a friend of the deceased logged in the deceased's character for the service.

This is all fine and good... people do build online friendships through these games. But this was a PvP (player versus player fighting allowed in most areas) server, and they chose to hold the funeral in a contested area, so members of the opposing faction crashed the service and started killing the attendees (online of course).

First rule of online gaming is to never take it too seriously. It's a form of entertainment, nothing more.

Wish I was there to help crash it lol!

I enjoy the end-game more than the leveling. That and helping run a guild with 500 members is more than enough to keep me busy in what little spare time I have. :tchrocks:

I guess the question is, did they kill the online character of the deceased guy while it was played by the friend?

Is there no respect for the dead?

:) Mike's right, it's a game. Don't take things too seriously or real life will become meaningless. Perhaps that's why so many younger hoodlums have no hesitation in killing people in real life.

have you seen that thing that the koreans are going loopy over, its sort of a mix of myspace and that free game secondlife.

mennntal! they pay money to have houses, and theres huge LAN "shops" for people to play the game, where they live out a second, e-life which they can be what they want with in reason.

can't remember the name of it, but they thinl it wont be long til it hits the U.K and USA

Edit: TCH-Bruce - removed derogatory adjective

i thought it was quite funny holding an e-funeral.. people are just too lazy these days :clapping:

Well, keep in mind, these members reside all over the world. Not just a simple thing to attend the real funeral in person.

i know, but its just people get too invloved with games, a "blackboard" forum (as used in universities) that i am on. had been swamped with WoW posts, only it seems one other person who is part of the staff/students group hates it...

personally my approach is//

PC/Mac = Work and T'intenet

PS2-PSP etc = Playing machine :clapping:

(apart from classics like Transport tycoon :P) as i shall break ones rules to play TT

or theme hospital... cant find theme park (the original and may i ad the best) anywhere, also SOCOM II is an ok older shooter i downloaded for free (legally) think its a site called feeeloader :)

Don't bother. The video is not appropriate for linking here, at least the one I saw.

PC/PS2/MAC/PSP/Internet/Xbox - the line is blurring so fast! I don't see much difference between SOCOM on Xbox and me playing City of Heroes on my PC and using Google to hack now days. (Uh, I don't really hack, honest!)

Personally, I prefer my PC to game because I have many more options on the controls.

I think my record was about 12 hours playing EverQuest, but no way can I do that anymore (nor do I desire to). That's why I usually just solo or play with Ken so I don't have to attend a raid that last forever.

I'm addicted to this really fun game. Play it like 10-16 hours a day. It's got all the makings of a superhit - online, multiplayer, never ending storyline. And it's not violent at all - usually - so it's fun for the whole family. It's called "Help Desk," ever heard of it?

You I play that one too, some times more than 36 hours. ^_^

yeah, there is this variation of help desk call web design, and it also involves lots of phone calls. and going over the same level again and again til its how the boss at the end of the game likes it.

unlike mario all the gold coins are only ever found on completion of the game ^_^
