  1. Hi, Its not "borrowed" but was given away free on a CD magazine disk here in the UK and is version 3.0 so its quite old. Sorry if I used so many reduandant words, my dyslexia lets me down at times! Jim
  2. Bill, Works fine here in the UK running XP Pro IE6 patched to kingdom come and back. Also on a large pipe! My only niggle is that the top header does move by about 4px on some pages left or right. Other then that its fine! What you running it on? Jim
  3. Hi, Hotmetal Pro, CoffeeCup and AceHTML are good for your purposes. Also the Front Page Express (MS though ) could be used Jim

Hi, Take a look at this page. Do you mean something like this: http://www.bostonspa.leeds.sch.uk/intranet...3/scrolldiv.htm (move your mouse over the up and down red arrows!) Jim
  5. Hi, Yes thats correct (well it works on my connection for a link) Have you named your created and named your database and setup a user before running the install? Jim
  6. Hi, Right, to get files to come out like www.turbobuy.com/computers you need a folder called computers in ur account. Now to get computers.turbobuy.com create a subdomain called "computers" in your account. Remember that the subdomain can also be accessed via typing in www.turbobuy.com/computers. Then it all gets a bit complicated with your next question. If your turbobuy.com and Averywong.com are being used for different purposes, maybe to I) sell computers and II) Something else, then yes, under TCH TOS agreements you will need 2 seperate accounts. The bit which goes: Is kinda of a double negative in the way I read it. You can transfer the wong to turbo as your main account by dropping a help ticket to the help desk. You can then forward wong to turbo via domain forwarding if your registar allows it. Although this must be to the same page as tubro is and must not be anythign different. I hope that makes sense! Jim
  7. Hi, I have to admit, I am a bit confused! Are you saying that you want www.noob-ownage.tk to remain in the address bar? Remember that your subdomain can be acccessed other ways. E.g. A subdomain path of http://www.mywebsite.com/forum can also be accessed by typing in Http://forum.mywebsite.com which IMHO is very easy to remember! If you want it to remain in the address bar, you will need to either use a frameset or see if there is an option with your hosting company to make it permanetley in the address bar Jim
  8. Hi, Yes a subdomain would work fine here with FTP access. This means they can only access the subdomain and once its all over, just delete the subdomain! Regarding TOS? As long as PART of your website, you have no extra different domain names pointing to it, it should be fine IMHO Jim
  9. Hi, After answering another question here I suddenley releasied that the AW stats on the front page of CPANEL do not include anything going to the subdomains (although the bandwidth counter does) Is there anyway to fix this? I know that I could go and look at the AW Stats of each sub-domain but I got too many (well 7 and will need 2 more proberley) and I would prefer of just one easy to look at all encompassing counter. Any way of being able to do this or tweaking it so it can? Thanks Jim
  10. IMHO these are not worth it. The amount of vistors you would have to put through is so huge to earn $1 let alone anything is pointless and not worth the hassle. Jim
  11. Hi, Do you have your site backed up elsewhere? If its only pictures or files (no CGI, ASP, PHP kinda thing) then there are I have a program which can litterally "grab" a website from its web host. Otherwise, do what Lianna says and just create a new one here. When you say transfer, do you mean transfer the dot.com too? Jim
  12. Cool Well as pointed out, there are plugins (some free, some costing) that you get use with dreamweaver too Nice baby (in the photos i mean)! Jim
  13. Hi, Its rather difficult to say, but I would say the starter plan ($44 total) would do you fine. I am on the silver plan, and this is what my website draws in a month: My website gets 4846 unique vistors per month, creating 97960 viewed pages and created 464897 hits in one month which created 2092 (2gig) mb worth of bandwidth with a site that only has 50mb in files. This means that I have shed loads of space left over which is the way I planned it. Therefore, if your expecting less then 100,000 hits (remember hits are not vistors) and only have 4mb worth of web files with a CGI file, and wanting only 12 email address, then based on what my site pulls in, the starter plan would be the best. When it comes to setting up a website, you will need an offical response for that! Jim

Whats going in the IFRAME? You can always use a scrollable DIV tag which works IMHO better then using annoying IFRAMEs Jim
  15. Tom, Put it like this. If your HTML code is like flying from New York to Los Angles, then Fp does it by flying via Austrilia. Its the same thing, just a lot longer. Jim
  16. Do you still have the problem? I use IE 6 on 1024x800 and the menu looks fine! Jim
  17. Hi, I have to admit that Bill Kish and his team provide the best support I have ever come accross period. Not wishing to blow thier trumpet but its true, and I deal with several customer supports around the world daily for my job and some of them can only wish to be as informative, quick and decisive as Bill and his team are. Its true we all live in the world where instant "everything" seems to be on offer. The truth is, nothing is ever instant. Providing the chat help here is nearly unheard of. AOL does it, but its so rubbish its untrue. You may have waited 10 minutes, but with AOL an average of double that is my parents experience. Forums will always be faster because whilst there is only a few people manning live chat, there could be 100s of people reading the forums. I don't know if you have had your problem sorted, if not, please say and we shall all help you, because TCH community does indeed rock, but it only rocks because of what Bill and his team does. Without them, this would would just be another hosting company in the sea of internet companies. Jim
  18. Sorry it was not meant as tease. Just a personnel thing due to the way I html code. You are correct though, the amount of extra uneccassry code that FP produces is vast and un-needed. Now I love Dreamweaver. Have worked with it since v3, and now use there entire suite of Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver. I) Dreamweaver has 3 views, html, html/WYSIWG and WYSIWG. Now some other packages do the same too. One is cofee cup @ http://www.coffeecup.com/ II) Ease of publishing? Do you mean it copies up all the files required? If so Dreamweaver does give you the option of this. III) ID borders? This is a FP only thing IV) Nav bars are available in almost any HTML package you buy these days. Making your own is always better. V) Files movement. Most packages will do this for you. Dreamweaver does this too. VI) Navigation scheme? Only FP and Netobjects fusion do this. Other packages make you think about how you want the layout to be. Its best to draw a tree diagram and work from this as it makes it easier. VI) Dreamweaver is not Microsoft, and at first glance can seem quite daunting. However the interface once understood is better, more powerful and less annoying then word. VII) Auto thumbnail? No this is not a feature in MX. Again an MS only feature. (although if u mean does the picture appear in WYSIWYG then yes it does. VIII) Again only an MS feature. Given if you want the above and don't want to change, then I would suggest sticking to FP. However each option above you have listed can be done in some form or another via other packges which may or may not be free. However, Dreamweaver would still be my choice. It hasn't got the bells and whisltes of being a "easy to use" all in one package like MS FP has with its autothumbnail etc, but its because it hasnt got the bulk of these bells and whistles being the main reason I would promt for Dreamweaver. Also it has excellant support for Javascript, PHP and all over web page languages. It also has a lovely template stucture too. (although I have learnt with time to do page includes which mean I don't have to rely on templates) I work in an Education institution which means I get Dreamweaver MX for £25, I don't know if this is an option to you or not. I also have Dreamweaver 3.0 which was given away free on a magazine. I don't know if you would be intrested in this. There are some other packages out there which are free or low cost. One is Coffee Cup, another is Hotmetal. A magazine we have here in the UK is .net whoose download site here at http://www.netmag.co.uk/downloads/default.asp? has quite a few packages on. So overall, save them pennies and get Dreamweaver MX. Its not as cute and cuddly as MS, but its a better package overall. Jim
  19. ASP is microsoft servers only. TCH runs Linux Apache servers. Jim
  20. Hi, Well thats a pretty broad question that could be posted about any form. That all depends on the form. A forms action tells the browser what to do with it, like POST, GET etc. It depends on what happens next, it could be an ASP page collecting the data or you could be running it through a CGI file. The CGI will need the path to it, eg /cgi/myform.cgi The information you will either need to store in a database or retrieve it via the cgi script. What exactley is the entire page about? Jim
  21. Hi, Under TCH rules, you may only ever have one website on your account. More then one violates this. Jim
  22. Hmmm, most of the posting gets done on US time when I am sound asleep! Maybe I need to brand about TCH more around Europe Jim
  23. Erm, help me out here for a second, I am out of coffee, are you talking about your FTP thing? If so, no worries, even if its not, no worries Jim
  24. There are also some relative good free ones on line if you dont want to script. My favourite till i started using the CPANEL to record the info i needed was http://www.nedstatbasic.net/ Jim
  25. Alternatively, if your just file moving and bits and pieces and changing permissions etc, use IE and turn the FTP function on. Then you have a visual method too! Jim
