Hi, What is wrong with phpBB? I love it and have no problems using it! Jim

Hi, Well what do you get? Have a quick look here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/ you can compare your hosting here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/web_host...ting_plans.html and some FAQ you might have are already answered here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/faq.htm Tech support is great here as you can see! In response to your question at present: CPANEL 6.4 MySQL 4.0.12 Invision board can be setup by a simple script in your CPanel. I would recommend backin up your database every so often though, its just good pratice! Besides this place offers a 30 day money back gurantee. Give them a try, if you dont like it, u dont have to stay, but i dont think you will want to leave! Jim

Hi, Drop a help ticket into the support desk and they will be able to help you with your error Jim

One Subdomain Sparadically Not Working
TCH-JimE replied to Zach's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Hi, Do a tracert to it and see where the "hop stops" Btw do you reside in Europe? Jim -
Hi, Your IP is the same as the one given in your welcome email address. Unless a Guru knows best? Jim
-
Hi, Your english is just fine, more better then me trying to speak any foriegn language. I would guess in uploading your bits to ASR subdomain, you have accidentally changed the permissons of the folder. Your best bet is to drop the Support desk a help ticket where they can change your permissions for you. Jim

Hi, MySQL is a database, where PHP is a a server side coding which the can interact with the MySQL database to display such things as this very board. It can't be viewed per se, but drop a help ticket to be given a direct path to it. Jim

Deleted Subdomains Still Resolving?
TCH-JimE replied to craigm's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Hi, You may find that your ISP has not updated itself yet, so give the ISP a chance to update itself. If you still having problems, drop the support desk a ticket and they can throughly clean it out for you Jim -
Hi, Remove the USER id from the that string you quoted Jim
-
Hi, Well if you called your subdomain ----> mail so the web address was Http://mail.****** I can not be certain, but I would advise againest it just because it complatcates the issue. Why not call it maillogin or loginmail which may be easier to remember and then would be guranteed not to interfere with it? Jim
-
Craig, My mind is a bit confused (I been doing database/ASP work all afternoon so forgive me!). The FAQ means that rather then having to do the long winded way to access the mail, you can create a subdomain and just use that to log straight into your main account. Are you asking can you can you re-direct email going to subdomain@****** to your main account? If so the answer is yes! If not, forgive me, could you rephrase the question? Jim

Dont use the http:// bit before it when doing a tracert, just put subdomain.domain.com I would suggest a help desk ticket though. Jim

Hi, For help creating a table: http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/CREATE_TABLE.html and a friendly guide here: http://www.createafreewebsite.net/phpmysql...eate_table.html Jim

Hi, Well here at university, the subdomains as a http://subdomain.domain.com don't work but if i do the http://www.domain.com/subdomain they work fine. Drop a help ticket into support just to double check on your settings for these subdomains Jim
-
Hi, As a side note, if you find you still have your MYSQL database left over after deletion, drop a help ticket into support and they will delete it for you. Jim

Hi, In your welcome email, you should have been given an IP address. If you type this into your browser, this will goto your website. By typing in your ipaddres followed by /cpanel, you can then access the CPANEL for your website, and here you can use the auto install script to set up your invision board. (Its under Addon scripts btw). Using this IP address, you can access your entire site. I can not help you with the domain question though, only a Guru with access to the system can! Hope this helps! Jim

Hi, In what sense? Cloaking often involves the use of a frameset. Jim
-
Hmmm i cant see anything, but i got a feeling thats my connection. Can you do a tracert to see where the hop stops? If not, drop a help ticket into the support staff I will look tomorrow at work and see if it makes a change (which it always does!) Jim

Completely wrong posting by me - ignore! Jim

I would agree too, downloading it to your system is a very delicate issue! I would suggest keep going using cpanel and some books and simple scripts you find online. As you build up your confidence and knowledge, then you can really branch out! Its always tempting (i know i still do it) to try and do something really aventrous first (mabye cos i am an Aries?) but it never fully works, or that i fully understand it. Hence i am trying to run before i can walk. Hence i'm learning to be patient and doing everything simple before getting complex! keep going though, once mastered its amazing what you can turn out! Hi, A 500 illegal port error is "The command was not accepted and the requested action did not take place" Found here This could suggest that you need to change the direction of your ftp. In other words, you want to use passive mode. it changes the direction tha tthe data conneciton gets opened (from you machine to the server instead of from the server to your mahchine). I need to start using cuteftp because at present, i use WSFTP! Jim

Hi, Please do post up the subdomains, it may just be that your ISP has not updated itself correctley. Also trying running a tracert to them and seeing if you can hop all the way to them Jim

Hi, There are many detailed sites on the net to deal with php and MySQL. Here is just one : Click here You may also think about buying a book. Although this may sound odd, if you plan to do alot of MYSQL/PHP work, its handy to have a decent book which you can reference. (There also good for reading when waiting for the train/stuck in traffic etc! ) Jim

Hi, A quick google showed this intresting little gem http://spgm.sourceforge.net/ also you should try and find a php called Gallery v1.3.2 . This should be located at http://gallery.sourceforge.net/ but the link fails for me. This again is a widely used gallery and you might be able to download it elsewhere. Give it a try! Jim
