Thanks for pointing out the missing !DOCTYPE. I tried a variety of versions, with and without referencing the w3c URL, to no avail. However, I did learn a few things along the way...like how 'strict' my site isn't. It's alright. Thanks everybody. I'll find a way around it or through it. Thanks for looking at it. I'm am still having the problem. I realise it looks functional, but it was intended to appear between X1.5 line height to X2 line height. Currently in IE only, it looks single spaced. I'm still learning how CSS performs across browsers. I think I can accomplish my objective in strait HTML, but it's going to be a nightmare to change it in the future, without using CSS. I realise this is only a cosmetic issue. Nothing earth shattering, I was just hoping some web design god(dess) knew something I didn't. This is the only forum where I feel comfortable asking these things. Thanks again. The problem: I am trying to set the line height on some menu items that are too crowded, visually speaking. Now, I though i knew what i was doing, and in fact it does work in NN6 and O7, bu it's not working in IE6. I don't care about other browsers at this point. The details: You can view the page here. I tried moving the class around to different tags [<tr>, <td>, <p>...], trying to see if inheritance or something was giving me grief, but that doesn't seem to be it. I tried using points, pixels, etc., but that's not it. What am I missing? I can't find anything on the 'net that indicates problems with IE and the line-height property later than IE3. It works in the other browsers and i think that's what's frustrating me most. Thanks, cjrdanes PS: no cracks about the flash. I'm creatively challenged.

I one heard about an interesting way to support your copyright claims, but you have to think of it BEFORE someone tries to steal your work. If your content was created or can be transfered to digital format, make a copy (don't use the original-- just in case) and mail it to yourself. Use registered mail to secure it further. Don't open it up when it comes back to you in the mail. The postmark date on the unsealed envelope proves the creation date. Way simpler than paying to register what you already own, eh? cjrdanes

OK got it. Just in case anyone follows this thread, I think what threw me was the pre-populated tabel prefix: phpbb_ I got on the wrong track because I was using phpbb instead of XMB, and didn't realise that the pre-populated prefix was wrong and needed changed. after downloading and then uploading the config.php file (don't ask me, i just followed the directions till they worked) , it appears that all is well. Now i just have to learn to customise the forum, lol. Thanks for everything!

ok, here's what i did and what happened. i chose the bb option in cpanel, it took me to a phpBB Setup page ( http://www.danesmedia.com:2082/frontend/bl...on/cgi/xmb.html ) and asked me to define a top level directory which i called : forum upon clicking the "install" button, i was take to phpBB Installation page ( http://danesmedia.com/forum/install.php ) it ask's for: Basic Configuration (which is all pre-populated) Database Configuration Database Server Hostname / DSN: localhost Your Database Name: cjrdanes_phpbb Database Username: cjrdanes Database Password: ****** Prefix for tables in database: phpbb_ (pre-populated) Admin Configuration Admin Email Address: [my email] Domain Name: www.danesmedia.com Server Port: 80 (pre-populated) Script path: /forum/ (pre-populated) Administrator Username: cjrdanes Administrator Password: ****** Administrator Password [ Confirm ]: ****** I clicked the "Start Install" button and endede up with the error message i posted previously. Likely as not, i did something wrong, but I think i did what i was supposed to. I didn't want to open (yet another) ticket if i was just being stupid.

I too, am having problems installing phpbb. I believe i have done everything as directed, but i get the following message upon submit: phpBB : Critical Error Could not connect to the database Was there a resolution to this? cjrd ps: I'm new here, so maybe I missed something along the way, but several people mentioned WMB, instead of phpbb which is all that's available on my cpanel. Also, the user manual refers to WMB, as well. Are there more bb systems available?
