How do these sites show up in awstats to begin with? Is it done as a way to get people to go to their site?

He'll tear us up if we try to bring him down when others are here. hehe He has some siamese in him (he's also a loudmouth) so we figure that has something to do with it. Cleo used to be ultra-friendly until one of hubby's (ex) friends treated her like crap when he was down. I told him to keep his hands off my cat. He's also not welcome back in my house. But now she is also skittish, although after a while her insatiable curiosity gets the better of her and she'll have to scope everyone out.

Gotcha. Basically it ensures only the owner can make changes. I can understand the reasoning behind the change, but this seems to invite more problems than it will solve and will allow unscrupulous people to cause all kinds of mischief. Bad move if you ask me. Not everyone is going to have a wonderful web host to let them know about things like this.

What are the consequences of locking a domain name? Not that I have any plans to move at all because Rock Sign but I'm wondering what happens once it is locked.

I have two mailing lists set up through cpanel and you cannot see the distribution list, only the name you give the list. I think there is the option to let people look up who is subscribed, but you don't have to let them.

First, I want to say how much I like the changes in the Latest Visitors. Having them aranged by IP number is very handy. Question - I have a robots.txt file set up to keep bots from crawling my blogs, guestbook, and webcam. Google, Yahoo, and all the regulars seem to be honoring that. However, I got a visit today by h*tp://www.almaden.ibm.com/cs/crawler [bc4], and even though they claim to adhere by the "rules," they crawled every folder I told them not to. Is anyone familiar with this? Is it really IBM? Is it worth sending a nasty e-mail?

Actually - it wasn't screen resolution, it was because I had bumped my browser's font size up a notch because the default font on the TCH site is so small.

I would agree with Raul regarding the Flash menu. While not bad enough to need special computer equipment, I have poorer vision than the average joe and I find it extremely hard to read. I also find it annoying to have to wait for it to load on every page. Just a few little things.... On the Web Design Services page, the first option ends with: Six Months of Web Hosting Included Silver Plan and the next one ends with: Six Months of Web Hosting Included - Gold Plan It would probably be better to do the first one like the second so they know Silver Plan goes with the line above (for those unfamiliar with TCH) On the TCH Gurus page, by Rick's picture, it says "Click for Photo" even though the photo automatically loads. On the left-hand menu that is on many of the pages including TCH Gurus and FAQ, there seem to be some lines that are not showing up. If you notice in the picture at the top, bottom, and one place in the middle, it looks like I can see the very top of some text that is hidden. Other than those things (the Flash being the biggie IMO), I think it is well layed and and looks great!

Someone left spam on my guestbook and I'm trying to track down the hosting company he uses, but I am unfamiliar with the name servers. When I looked up the IP address - 65.36.166.30 I got these name servers listed: Name Server: NS2.LNHI.NET Name Server: NS1.LNHI.NET I've tried to Google for a utility, but the only thing I got were the domains registered to that IP address, which I already knew. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Thanks!

Jim, You might already know this, but in your Default Address Maintenance, have you set all unrouted mail to go to :blackhole:? This will automatically discard anything that doesn't come to one of your legitimate addresses.

I liked #2 because he looks more serious, and sexy. The first is nice, but the pose is a little youthful. If he's wanting to walk in the footsteps of some of the older country giants then he probably wants to portray a more mature image.

Setting up a mailing list in cpanel isn't hard, espeically when you don't need all the bells and whistles along with it.

OK, hubby finally got up and showed me the error I was making when looking for that key in my registry. It WAS there, and we got it, the exe file, and the prefetch file deleted. The second link was the one that did the trick. This was my first foray into the registry. Hubby had always taken care of that before, but now I know. Thank you so much, Dick - these things aggravate and anger me to no end because I feel so powerless to stop them. Would it be your opinion that having deleted this registry entry and exe file means I'm probably safe now? I'm still paranoid to go into anything that requires a password to be entered.

One more thing - when I reboot, I am getting this program called Privacy Scanner that pops up and wants me to scan my system. Obviously I haven't, and there's nothing in Remove Programs to get rid of it. It says it's from w*w.privacychampion.com. Anyone know who these jerks are? I can't even delete the programs it has installed. :/ Yeah, this is really how I wanted to spend my Sunday.

Dick, I've been going over all of this info for the past hour. I did a search in my registry for that key and didn't find it, and I also didn't find the subfolders mentioned in the first link you sent. Is it possible that I got this cleaned up fast enough that it didn't create these? I'm confused and concerned now. I can't seem to find other indications of infection, but I'm so paranoid now that I need to be SURE that my logs aren't being sent out. It takes a special kind of inhuman slimeball to create things like this where someone can be prepared and still get hit. I have many other things to say about those people, but this is a family forum. I will probably do the restore from my windows disc just to be on the safe side. It says to back up my user files. Can you tell me please what those are exactly? Is that what is under Documents and Settings/all users? Thanks for your help!!
