My puter sits right next to hubby's, so we talk while we play - does that count as socializing? Of course, I'm contemplating buying World of Warcraft (been playing on hubby's account this past week) so that will make any non-hubby socializing go down quite a bit.

You can have as many mail lists as you want. You are only really limited by your bandwidth (since I doubt mail lists of that size are going to have any real impact on your disk space). I don't use Dada mail because I don't have over 50 people on mine, but I believe I can limit how big the e-mails are that are sent by members on the list. (I haven't tweaked the settings for a while.) I would guess Dada has this feature as well.

It took a while to load here in IL, but once it did everything worked fine, including adding an item to the cart. Tested in Firefox. Drat....now I'm craving chocolate!

Mike - a request if I may please. Could you put the little page back that used to pop up when one clicks on View New Posts that had the link in case one was not forwarded? Half the time Firefox doesn't go through so it was very handy.

I realize this is unsolicited advice, but you might really want to have someone proofread these two sites. They are full of typos.

I never touched my .htaccess file and out of the blue my images stopped showing up when hotlinking was turned on. Iffy at best is right.

My husband deals with overseas buyers all the time on eBay (he sells Magic cards). He has taken hundreds of payments via PayPal and has not had a problem. It's one of the safest ways to do it and the fees are lower than a wire transfer. As long as you have proof that you sent the product, you should be fine. The only real problem with PayPal comes when selling "virtual" items such as characters from EverQuest, DAoC, etc. You have no way to prove that you delivered the product, therefore they can back out of the payment with little recourse. People in other countries can also buy a money order in US dollars and send it to you. This is a good option too - it just takes longer.

I've been getting a steady stream of spam entries on my advanced guestbook. Several weeks ago I added a block to my .htaccess file so bots won't crawl it, but I'm sure that isn't really making a difference. Of the four I've received this week, three were from the same place and I added a deny in cpanel for their entire block of IP addresses. The next day I got another with the same IP address that was supposedly blocked. (doing DNS and IP Whois). So today I went into my guestbook admin and added that same block to its IP deny list. My question is, is there something about how a guestbook is set up that an IP deny is cpanel won't work? Shouldn't they, in theory, be blocked from anything on my domain or does it not work that way? If anyone has any other advice for stopping guestbook spam (or at least making it more difficult for them) aside from just removing the darn thing, that'd be wonderful. It's not a huge annoyance - yet - but it's getting there.

Did you purchase your domain as well as hosting? They are two separate things. I'll let a mod answer how billing works or you might want to submit a help desk ticket (located at the top of the page)

Is your contact e-mail something other than your domain e-mail? Also check any junk mail or spam filters you may have as they sometimes mark TCH help desk responses as spam.

Thomas, I didn't think you could park a domain and point subdomains to other parts of the main domain. Am I wrong?

Thomas, most websites I find with copyrighted clip art say it's ok to use on a personal site - I guess it depends on what you want to do with it.

I use About.com's clip art section. They link to hundreds of pages and have them separated out by category with a short description. They seem to want to push their own clip art more than they used to, but it's still a great resource.

Bruce and Thomas - I've not had to do that with any version of FF. Of course, there's only one password-protected forum I have access to, but it's never been a problem. The issue I have with Firefox and these forums is that when I first open Firefox, I can click on View New Posts and be redirected fine. I can also click on the little icon to jump to my first unread post in a thread, but after a while (and there seems to be no trigger or specific amount of time), that stops. I no longer get redirected and have to click the link, and I can't go to the first unread post. It doesn't really make any sense. I use FF for everything except when I need to see some specific javascript that is IE only. I have a couple of those on my site. They're nice, but they aren't crucial so it's no biggie if non-IEers can't see them.

Correct. I use Blogger, and I just entered the FTP settings on their site and told it which folder to publish in. I still enter my blogs at their site but it is actually published to my domain.

Unless you purchased a resellers account, you have to have a separate hosting account for each domain name.

Unless you have a resellers account, you cannot point another domain to a subdomain.

Rob, I think what he's wanting to do is clean up his top level folder. So, instead of seeing: /public_html /john /tony /karen /robert /elizabeth /bill /images /my_folder1 /my_folder2 He wants to make it cleaner and see something like this: /public_html /family /images /my_folder1 /my_folder2 and not have to scroll through all the family folders to find his own folders.
