Hi Ian, TCH doesn't do it (and you can call it a policy issue if you like) because of the load/security/maintenance impact it has on the server, and hence on other users on a shared server. We are proud that we manage our servers with excellent up-time, and fast running servers, with low loads. There are other hosting providers that will allow SSH on shared servers ... that oversell their servers ... that offer unlimited bandwidth etc. However if you check the responsiveness and security of those servers they usually have a few problems. We are not like those hosting providers, we provide an excellent server environment for all our users. Hence, if you insist on a MU setup with wildcard DNS, you will either need to move to a dedicated server or move to a host that does allow it.

sorry, maildir is the default - so just miss off the --maildir ( --mbox) option.
-
Hi, You will need to change a couple of things; The --mbox to --maildir The path to the correct directory For example for the ham you could have >print `$salearn -p /home/mylogin/.spamassassin/user_prefs --maildir --ham --showdots /home/mylogin/mail/damain/user/{cur,new} 2>&1`; the {cur, new} allows you to look in both directories. If you want to do it in all your email accounts you can also use a wildcard instead of the 'user'

When you say "other folders in my account" I assume you are talking about sent items etc. in one email account, rather than other email accounts under your domain. Try logging into SquirrelMail and subscribing to all the relevant folders, then connecting. IMAP should be able to see them all.

Mail Server Changes / Maildir Conversion
TCH-Andy replied to TCH-Dick's topic in Support Announcements
Welcome to the forums Ben The short answer is I wouldn't expect it to return, no. -
Hi DallanC, welcome to the forums These are all look like unrouted emails, because you have the default set to your cpanel username. Log into the cpanel, and go to the mail section, and set the default for unrouted email to :fail: (remembering the two colons). I would then suggest going inoto the file manager or FTP and deleting those emails (they will be nearly all spam). Alternatively open a ticket and ask us to delete them for you.

You have the power by simply asking, and I changed it for you -
How about pictures of different animals / objects - and a selection of what you can see ? As an extension to your colours .... if the board owner could choose the images / responses they would all be different (you just have to hide the name of the image file of course and not make them pic1 for options 1 How many legs can you see in this photo .... that sort of thing

The email address you had on the billing system from 4.5 years ago was different to the one you opened a ticket with - and communicated with the help desk via I checked that email notification did go out (although I can't confirm it arrived, got caught in spam filters ...). PM me if you want the details (I don't want to post email addresses etc. here). -
Seeing All Email From Admin Account
TCH-Andy replied to dirtvoyles's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
I've seen a couple of workarounds, it depends on what the output you want is though. Do you want to be able to see other peoples emails? Or are you just after managing various different accounts that you have? If it's the latter, then you can just set up forwards to a single account, then set filters to put those emails into the correct folders. If it's the former, then please PM me - I do know a workaround, but I'm never totally happy about putting workarounds of what is essentially a security issue on a public forum. -

Frontpage - Which Is Better As Far As Servers?
TCH-Andy replied to OnlineAutorama's topic in FrontPage
Jim, Microsoft stopped supporting FrontPage last year - as they move to Microsoft Expression, so personally I'd suggest a change over to Expression (or one of the other packages) as at some point in the future you will have problems with FrontPage on either platform. -
You will need to open a ticket at the help desk, and give us the domain name, and ask us to whitelist it for callback.

Need Suggestions On What I Have Started
TCH-Andy replied to OnlineAutorama's topic in Scripting Talk
Hi Jim, you can do it in excel (it's relatively straightforward if you have the data in there), but that would have the information on your computer, rather than on a web page (and excel is not that good at creating html code). There is a database system on the server (MySQL) which you can use, and then get PHP to convert the database into web pages. This is a lot more difficult to create than the excel version though. I'd start of by carefully defining your requirements. What parameters do you want to include ? and when are these the same /different ? -
Have you refreshed (i.e. reloaded) it in your browser ? It's working for me.

Hi Deverill, It's not a silly question at all. We aren't placing strain on the servers by doing this, because both SMTP and DNS maintain caches to avoid redundant queries, and the overhead of a relatively simple check is not as bad as an inbound spam attack. It has the real advantage that it reduces the amount of spam that we all get of course (and hence less mail for spam assassin to read through, and decide if it's spam or not). The callback check would not block the email if it was from a legitimate email address, no. They prefer to use valid addresses - but often use random ones, which is another very good reason to set your default for unrouted email to :fail:
-
Hi sychen, Let me try and explain what's going on. When our servers receive an email, they will check the senders email address and send a callback to the sending server to check and see if the users email address actually exists. The reason we do this is to help cut down on spam. In this case the senders email server was not verifying the email address actually exists and so the email was being rejected. In some cases the sending server does not wait long enough for the check to complete. Most of the time this is an issue with the sending servers configuration. It is not RFC compliant. Hence why we suggested that you talk to your clients IT admin folk, and simply request that they change their servers to be compliant. They will find many other email systems do exactly the same checks and so you will not be the only person who can not receive their email. We used to accept all email, whatever the source, on our server. However with the growth in spam we can no longer do that. Originally we did move you to a server which did not do any checks - hence it was OK for a while. With the steady increase in spam though, we do need to put some checks in place, hence the tech was correct, it's not a practice we are going to change. If it's only one domain name, it should be possible to whitelist that domain name (and hence stop the checks for that domain name, for your server). That is the only other alternative I can suggest.

Well done Kate

You're welcome We do love to help here

If it's the same domain, you can pass the session info across, yes. I'd be certain that you want to though ... but yes, it's possible if they are both on the same domain.

You need to ensure that all the pages called are using the secure link, so you need to change the links within the pages to point to that.

There are a number of errors in the html/css I'd suggest starting by validating your code - http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.paradise-cove.co.uk%2Fphotos.htm
