  1. Hi Harmony, I'm don't use Frontpage myself, but I think everything is fairly straightforawrd. There is a 'bug' in FP 2000 I think which means that there is a problem 'just pressing the publish button' until your domain name has propogated. There is a forum area for Frontpage which should provide a few other answers - I'll have a quick look now. Andy
  2. Sharisse, Welcome to the Family How did you build your old website? You may be able to move a lot of your web site over to TCH. To try and answer your questions. cpanel: this is for controlling your account, not creating your web page. As borfast says there are a number of tutorials on building web pages, and a number of free packages for creating a basic one. Domain Name: Yes, you will need to buy one, although you can start building your web site before then and using the IP address (the four number which will look something like 126.57.12.145) The 24-48 hours is the time it takes for your domain name to propogate - i.e. when you purchase your domain name it will take time before somebody can type that name into their browser window and it will go to your site, simply because it takes a while for the whole world to be told where your domain is. I hope this helps. Just keep asking lots of questions - we are all friendly around here Andy PS. I think your english is very good - if only I could manage a foreign language like that I'd be very happy
  3. Looks a great resource, most helpful, thanks Just a couple of small points on User boards: the last line reads "yourself.are responsible for installin Invision." on NewsPro: the links didn't work for me :-( Thanks again Andy
  4. I'm no expert - I've managed on one site, which I get about 70 hits a day - nothing massive, but it gets noticed. I'm just setting up another site, which is for a company I have just started - so I have got to do exactly the same again and get some people visiting, although I haven't got the "image" or "brand" sorted yet. I would say - Decide on what audience you want (so that you can target it at them) - Give them something useful for free (information in my case) - keep updating things so that they come back. Easier said than done in some cases Maybe there is something we can do by helping each other out from this forum. What is your audience - who do you want to visit & why? Andy
  5. Many thanks - I chatted to them and it's all sorted. Andy
  6. Thanks, I had a look at that, tried my old SNH username and any others I could think of just in case - but it doesn't seem to like any!!! Andy
  7. Hi, Due to the great support around here, I havn't needed to use the helpdesk for a while, but now I need to get access to the helpdesk. I registered with the TCH helpdesk on 19 Jan - and I have an email confirming this and telling me what my username is. When I try to log onto the helpdesk I get an error "Sorry, login to the client area has failed as you have specified an invalid username ", but I'm using the name that is on the email from TCH confirming registration - am I going mad <_< Andy
  8. Many thanks, a great explanation, which has made it all clear When I joined TCH less than a month ago I was impressed - as time goes on 'the family' here seems to do the impossible and get even better Andy
  9. Hi, Not sure if anyone can help on this, but I have set up my site and registered with google (and others) site www.mycoted.com keywords: creativity innovation science technology I was really pleased when, after a couple of weeks - I appeared on Google as number 1 - boy was I pleased Then a couple of days, and I didn't appear at all a day later 0 back at number 1 Saturday - gone again Sunday - Number 2 - still pretty happy Today - nowhere to be seen Any ideas as to why it keeps appearing and then going again? TIA Andy
  10. Thanks for that, Yes, you are right, a lot could be down to the words here. If I look at whois on nominet http://www.nic.uk for www.mycoted.co.uk, then the "Registrant" is down as me - Mycoted Ltd, although the address is wrong. The address belongs to Formations House, who helped form Mycoted for me. The Nominet Tag Holder - IODOMAIN is the Registrants agent, who formations house presumably paid on my behalf to 'register' the domain. Formations House http://www.formationshouse.com/ are 'hosting' the .co.uk domain at the moment - although it does nothing but point to their site. I simply want to point the domain name at my www.mycoted.com space hosted by you. I assumed that it was simply a matter of changing the DNS settings somewhere. at formations house I have no cpanel or equivalent - I have one web based email account and that is it.... Thanks for you help, if there is anything you think you can do I would appreciate it, but the only thing I can see at the moment is that I contact nominet - I'd contact IODOMAIN, but I have no idea who they are. Andy
  11. I'm hanging I do like all these faces - even those that are drunk
  12. Hi, Yes, the full story is that when I formed my company 'Mycoted' in the UK 3 weeks ago, the organisation setting it up for me gave me a 'free' domain name - www.mycoted.co.uk. I looked for the best hosting people around - and found TCH (or SNH as you were then) When I asked them to move the hosting to you, I gave them the new DNS address and they did nothing - not even responding to my emails. After a week I got fed up and bought www.mycoted.com, through yourselves, and you changed my account to that - great. However, I would like to have the www.mycoted.co.uk to point at the same space as www.mycoted.com. After lots of phone calls with the hosting company for www.mycoted.co.uk (who don't have telephone support "because no hosting company does" and take 72 hours to respond to an email request - thats 72 hours between 9am and 5pm ) they finally stated that with .co.uk domain they could only change it if I provided a Nominet TAG. Nominet state that one is not requires - http://www.nic.uk/howto/change-isp.html I think it's probably just going to be a long drawn out argument with them - the sooner I can get it all over to you the better Andy
  13. Hi, I have a .co.uk domain that I'd like to move over to TCH (to match the .com domain hosted here), but after lots of chatting to the current hosting company they say they need to have an IPS tAG for the domain I'm transferring to. As far as I can understand it, IPS TAGS just seem to be a peculier british way of doing things Does TCH have an IPS TAG, or does anyone know a way round the problem? TIA Andy

    Support

hi, I'm new around here, I signed up on Saturday, so far all I can say is that the support has been great - most questions answered within a matter of minutes From signing up, to up and running took about 4 hours from filling in the forms, to having things up and running (although it takes longer for the domain name to get round the world) I've been impressed so far - much better than the folk I was with before, who still haven't managed respond to a request to transfer my domain after 4 days!!!
