Bear this in mind. One of my clients had the similar situation, sending very large graphics files to vendors via email. So I set him up with a dandy quick system: FTP the graphic to his hosting account here at TotalChoice Web Hosting. Email to the vendor a direct link to the download file. Vendor gets the email and clicks on the link. IE/Netscape both would automatically ask if the file should be opened or saved. Include direction in the email for saving the file locally. It's a breeze. Pro's: No fighting it out with the ISPs and Hosting companies for those huge files to get transferred through the mail systems. (I have very few contacts that can receive files greater than 1 or 2 MB per email and most have a mailbox account limit of 10-25MB as a whole. Con's: There aren't any!

The support guys absolutely ROCK! Thumbs Up

I'm going to move this topic over to the Frontpage forum in hopes of capturing the attention of a Frontpage user that may have some insight...

Just create the redirect, but not the account for the parked domain. See what that gets you. That is the method for directing mail to an account without having the mail stay in a mailbox, but for mail within the same domain.... I don't know if it will work with a parked domain. Hmmm. Off to do some testing of my own.

I think I can hit most of these: 1) Is telnet access offered? NO telnet. You may request Jailshell access. 2) Do you support mod rewrite? Crontab? Cron jobs can be setup within cPanel. 3) You mention that you support streaming media, but I wasn't able to note details. Do you have a RealServer or WindowsMedia server in house? And if so, what version? I'm going to defer this one to somebody else. 4) Do you own your data centers, or are you resellers for another firm? Well, no and no. We do own our own servers that are colocated in 4 different data center, none of which we own. You can read more about our data centers here: TotalChoice Web Hosting - Data Center Information. 5) Do any of your plans offer multiple-domain hosting? All of our Reseller Plans, Semi-Dedicated and Dedicated plans. 6) Do you offer or plan to offer any plans with more disk space? Arrangements for purchasing extra space and bandwidth can be made via the helpdesk. 7) Do you pre-filter incoming mail? No, not for spam content. We do use Exim to filter for potentially hazardous attachments, but you still get all of your messages. 8) Is it possible to customize your stats programs, or even run my own (licensed) one (Wusage)? Yes, some clients have customized the built in stats programs. However, since these programs are tied to cPanel, any upgrades to cPanel would result in the potential loss of that customization. Yes, you should be able to run your own stats program, but I do not know the specifics of the program you list. Hope that helps a bit. Thanks for considering Web Hosting by TotalChoice Web Hosting!

In all fairness, if we normalized the data for the time he's been gone, .... NOT! I win. Whip Back to work Spitwad!

Yep, it appears to still be dropping the /users/steelbuilt-inccom/ part out of the path.... I'm guessing that's Frontpage A chop of your code looks like this: ><script language="javascript"> Image1 = new Image(350,47) Image1.src = "/images/products_small.gif" Image2 = new Image(350,47) Image2.src = "/images/products_bins.gif" Just a hunch, but try this, put two periods before the /images directory in that path so it looks like: ><script language="javascript"> Image1 = new Image(350,47) Image1.src = "../images/products_small.gif" Image2 = new Image(350,47) Image2.src = "../images/products_bins.gif" I don't know how to do that in Frontpage, since I don't use it, but maybe somebody else can chip in with a trick. The two dots force the path to be relative to root rather than relative to the active page's directory.

No fight here. I like a challenge!

I Want To Give Limited Editing Capabilities
Lianna replied to wesme's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Yep, that's where I was going with the question. jslagle and surefire hit the nail on the head. Using a web based content management solution is certainly the ideal situation here. -
What would be the impact of this auto-install on the client's ability to then use plug-ins and add-ons that are designed for use with some of those apps in the list? Here's why I ask. I love postnuke, but mainly because of the availablity of some plugins. Would I still be able to use the plugins or would it have to be requested for the server level? With Squirrelmail, we've seen that using plugins isn't available now for the server level install of the app. If the installation would happen at the account level, then I'm definitely game!

<sniff> is that a competition I smell brewing?

I Want To Give Limited Editing Capabilities
Lianna replied to wesme's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
No, use cpanel to actually create the FTP User accounts. Then use Frontpage to upload the files you want to those ftp directories. But, I have a question, those other folks? Do they have Frontpage???? How are they going to be maintaining their own sections of the site? -
That warning would happen if you chose to use the *one giant frame* idea posted earlier.

I Want To Give Limited Editing Capabilities
Lianna replied to wesme's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Yes, it can be done. Create an FTP user for each of them This creates a subdirectory for each, then you can (or they can) load the pages they need access to into those directories. Create links on you main site to those subdir pages and vice versa. -
Maybe this will give you some insight. I looked at the properties for the *red-x-of-death* missing image at the top left of your page and find the path of: >https://www.readysecure3.com/images/steel_small.gif and the path of the page itself is: >https://www.readysecure3.com/users/steelbuilt-inccom/binprices.cgi Do you see it? Now check here: >https://www.readysecure3.com/users/steelbuilt-inccom/images/steel_small.gif Ah, there's that graphic! Modify the paths to include the /users/steelbuilt-inccom/ portion and you should be good. Hope that helps a bit.

Beyond what Frylock has suggested, you can also purchase your own certificate and have it installed for your domain. I realize that it isn't as *cheap* as using the shared cert, but it will get the address bar issue resolved.

We are not planning to incorporate Fantastico into our offerings here. Is there a specific script that you were interested in?

After reviewing several Horde docuements, I think the Identities are used more like me sending email out in either a Personal or Professional identity. For example, I can setup the default identity's signature to include my business name, phone, etc. I could set up a separate identity for personal use that has a quote like "From your friendly neighborhood Dumb Blonde! Have a great day!". Now, I certainly don't want to send my business associates emails with that quote, but my friends'll get a kick out of it.

ATP Mail is the only system that I've ever worked on that does popup a sent notification. Personally, I found it rather annoying and the later versions offered a Preferences Option so that it could be turned off by the user.

Entropy Banners And Subdomains...
Lianna replied to creativeslant's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Hi, Sorry, but even the question is being eluded in the cPanel support forums. I found 4 postings in a quick search for Entropy that state the exact same thing as your query...none are addressed. Leads me to the conclusion that, at this moment, nope it can't be done with the script in its current condition. Without any support offered from cPanel on the subject, I imagine that your only recourse will be an alternative if one exists. -
hoobie - Gimme some more detail here of the scenario you invision. For example... I'm out in the wilderness with my cell phone and laptop and want to connect to my server at work. ???? I'm guessing that you refer to wireless as the 802.11b or g 'short-range' wireless and you are looking for something that will work in a more "remote" location? Gimme a bone!

Nothing else needs to be changed...Propagation can take 24-48 hours and I've seen it take as long as 72 hours for certain ISP's to update their DNS references. So, now it is "Hurry up and Wait" time! Be patient... What is your domain name and how would we tell which host is showing? I ask becuase sometimes it makes me feel better to know that at least some body is seeing the new hosted site after a change. We can check it to let you know (but we have to know how to tell the difference in the sites).

Now that is multitasking software! What a terrific side-benefit.
