Kat, since you published to the root (ie: not the public_html) directory on your first attempt, it would be a good idea to use cPanel's File Manager or other FTP application to go remove the files from the root. Yell if you want more specific info on how to do this.

BackupNOW! by NTI http://www.ntibackupnow.com/default.asp I've been using it for 3 years now and it does an amazing job of using CD media for backups - and yes, it spans all by itself! As a matter of fact, it also supports my DVD burner and and will span those (for backups larger than the capacity of the disc). Several of my clients now use BackupNOW! for archiving their server backups and one client uses only CD backups (no magnetic tape media, no expensive tapes,etc.). Hope that helps.

You're welcome! I paid the 19.95 for the suite I liked it so much. (yes, I register/pay for all of my shareware and trials.... ) I found that the best part of having PDF writing tools is the ability for me to email a proposal, estimate or bill to a client without the worries of having it 'altered' by them. We all learn from our mistakes. I once sent a proposal/contract to a client and was mailed back a signed copy of a contract that had been altered by them! Needless to say, I don't do business with them now, but had to pay my lawyer a pretty penny or two to send out a letter of contract dissolution. Everything I send out now is in PDF and protect myself further by faxing the identical document to them. Gads, all that pains because of the few bad apples!

It's not only for the perusal of potential investors. It's a great 'portfolio' addition when pitching for a big contract job, etc. I know there have been several of my clients that were more eager to share my bid with their Board of Directors because they could see the time and effort I'd spent on my own business...Just gives them a little more confidence that I'm in it for the long-haul. It just makes you look a bit more polished also.

Just tried again and it does work now. That demo is through cPanel's site, not TCH, so we're at their mercy for the Test Drive....Also worth noting, they are using a different 'skin' than the default used by TCH - so just don't be surprised by a different cPanel look and feel when you sign up, ok?

So, Ian, if I remove all permissions to a file using cPanel File Manager, even my own, will it allow me to then go back and add the permissions? Hey! it does work!

Sam, my memory fails me but didn't KW and Curtis both tout the joys of a search utility on the CSB boards a year ago? Anyway, I just went to KW's site and find that he is using PSLighteningSearch. That's not the one I remember having been talked about, but it works really well on KW's site.

1. Jim is correct, Sam. All those folders are FrontPage extentions. Since you aren't using FP, you can use cpanel to uninstall FP Extentions and they go away. Placing things in the _private directory won't do any good unless FP is the one doing the putting. 2. Dunno. Good question. Anybody else? I wonder though if you set permissions locked down to virtually nothing prior to a search if it would blow right past those files/folders???? Like I said, dunno. Sorry.

So username: test Password: 123 That's the default, so you really need to change it asap after install.

During the installation of Advanced Guest Book, it gives you the username and password to use (NOT the same as your cPanel one). Hang on just a sec and I'll do a quick install and post back.
