I'm not sure that I'd go terribly out of my way to create a WAP version on the basis of a single visitor though, but you could put a simple poll on your site, like, "Who'd use a WAP version if I built it?" and options of "I would" and "I wouldn't" and "What's a WAP?"

Unless you are on a dedicated server, then MySQL is a shared app. So, no, if that install script assumes that you have root ownership of the necessary MySQL files, then you will not be able to install it using their script as-is. (Somebody pop in if I am missing something obvious, k?)
