  1. Sorry to hear that and good luck with your fire sale.
  2. During startup a computer will go thru a system check and make an initial connection to all components, the keyboard IS one of these "POST" checks. IF it cannot find a keyboard it returns an error, usually a series of beeps. Now the problem could be something else but with the description you have given its difficult to say without having the computer in front of me. Do the lights for the power, hard drive, numlock or capslock come on at all. If they don't then you probably have power problems. If they do come on does the screen display anything, if not it could be a video or display problem. Do you get sounds at all, beeps during setup can be used to determine what the error could be.
  3. Sorry but I don't think its possible...but wait for someone from TCH to give their answer.
  4. Hi Jim, since the signature would be a function of the email client used by the user, I don't think its possible. The email client would be different for each user, some would use Outlook or Outlook Express, some would use other programs or use the Web based programs. And you won't have access to users who access mail from home.
  5. If you have a problem with staying connected the first place to start would be with Verizon. They will run you thru the trouble shooting steps to determine where the problem resides. It could be anywhere from their lines to your hardware drivers.
  6. For those of you interested here is the Website with the information http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/default.mspx
  7. Hi Johnny, you have two options here and so far you have been given instructions for one of them. Your second option would be to hire someone to do the web pages for you. Yes, you could probably do it yourself if you had the time to learn, but there are thousands of folks out there who already know how and can put up a very profesional site, quickly, and for a small fee. So I would suggest you look at both options, learning and doing it yourself, or hiring someone to put one up and turn it over to you once its completed. TCH offers Web Design packages and there are several members here who also offer these services. They can be found here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/web-host...inks=commercial Good luck with your site and welcome to the forum.
  8. Sorry but to create an "IRC room" you will need to have the IRC server software running, this is what everyone is telling you you cannot do. To install the IRC server software would require you to have shell or root access which you can't have without a dedicated server.
  9. In the print dialog box "page range" area should be a "selection" checkbox, select this.
  10. Thomas, see if this will work. Highlight the text you want to print, right-click on it and select print.
  11. Another thing to check is your monitor settings, did you lower the resolution to 640 x 480 or the color from 16 million to 256?
  12. If they look fine to everyone but you, the problem is on your side. I would suggest its your monitor, your video card or your video drivers. Check the easy things first. Play around with the controls on your monitor, color, contrast, brightness and see if that corrects it. Then check your video drivers and see if you have the latest version. Last resort would be the video card.
  13. Yes I realize yours and my way were basically the same...my point was you need to free up the C: drive before you reassign it. The MS article David found is probably what you need. Good luck.
  14. Right Click on My Computer, Click on Manage, find Disk Management, then right click on the drives you want to change and choose the change drive letter and paths, and click Change, and click on the letter drop down menu to pick new letter, click OK. Do that for each drive you want to change. See if this does what you want. You may have to shuffle drive letters to make the drive letter C available before reassigning it.
  15. Mike, see if one of these links help. h_tp://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/post123371-4.html h_tp://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,13561597?hilite=aurora
  16. Its best if you, drop a Help Desk ticket. Link is above.
  17. Thanks for the update Ty. Sounds like the 10 dollar investment was well worth it. I had little hope for the lappy, I've seen too many similar cases with the same results. Water and electricity don't mix well and the hardware is usually the big loser.
  18. Flat Screen's are a thing of the past. Go with flat panels. If you can squeeze out a little extra cash go for a 19". I swear by Viewsonics and have two at home but have KDS at work.
  19. Sorry to hear that Ty. Moving forward you may want to think about what Rick suggested so you can possibly recover your data. The MB maybe fried and the hard drive may still be workable. Hooking it up as an external drive would eliminate the possibilities of damage to the other laptop.
  20. yes maybe This all depends on what happened with the water and how much damage was done. Normally I would say there will be no harm. If there was damage to the hard drive it "should" just not work, you put the original drive back in and you are back to normal. But this is not 100%.
  21. What my wife and I used for our 2 week driving vacation to Florida in May was to stop at the Welcome Centers at the State line and picked up the Hotel guides and coupon books. They gave prices and locations and directions and all the special deals available. So while I was driving she was on the cell phone talking with all the possibilities and getting the cheapest deal. We actually saved a lot of money. We originally had some nice selections from Hotels.com in the $59-$89 range printed up before we left. My wife found a Hampton doing a Grand opening at $39 a night and another special at $29 from the coupon book. We trashed the plans we had from hotel.com and worked strictly from the deals we found. It also gave my wife something to do during the trip All the hotels were known names and she made sure I had my wireless internet in the rooms.
  22. From The Elder Geek: h_tp://www.theeldergeek.com/repair_reinstall_ie_and_oe_6.htm And I tend to agree. More and more I find systems that I can't repair and end up going back to a complete re-install anyway
  23. You can use www.whois.sc and copy your domain into the "Domain Explorer" area. 72.9.244.74 - www.lavalbone.com - server101.totalchoicehosting.com 66.36.242.229 - www.mythaiangel.com - server64.totalchoicehosting.com
  24. We still haven't got my dad's house fixed from the two he was hit with last year. Wish my sister would just get it done so we can sell it while its still standing!
  25. Yes, this is an individual user setting/"preference". The Windows file association determines which programs open a file...and I don't believe you can control that in html. You can make sure its the same program by using the same file type, but if you mix the file types some users will see different players open and others may not.
