I'm not exactly sure since I am not the one doing the restore From what I know data centers do a combination of "full" and "incremental" backups to get the best results of backed up data. When a "restore" is done they usually run the last "full" run and then restore the incremental runs to restore everything to its most current state. Maybe you looked after the full restore and the incremental has not been run yet...but PLEASE don't hold me to this statement
-
Bottom line is you are responsible for your own data. Now 24 hours is actually pretty good recovery of data, in some sites I heard of lot longer periods of lost data. The actual backup process is a resource hog and slows the system down when its running. Running an incremental or full backup more frequently would tie up a server and no one would be able to view their pages. If you make a change and you don't want to lose it, its safer to back it up yourself. Hopefully someone will come along and give you the correct timeframes for the backups, I don't know them.

Are Perl Script Cpu Limited Via Nice Or Otherwise
Madmanmcp replied to eggrock's topic in Scripting Talk
You are "sharing" the server with hundreds of other folks who will not like it if their pages are slow or can't be reached. I also know that TCH will shut down accounts that hog the CPU. So I would suggest you be careful and be a nice neighbor so we don't have to complain about a slowdown. -
After taking a quick look at the email and your website, I would take a wild guess and say those are emails from your guestbook. If you look at the email and date it was sent and then look at your guestbook. The last entry there matches the email you posted here. So, look in you setup of your guestbook and turn off the auto-email feature and those emails will stop.

So if I read the rules correctly, its not a number we pick, the actual post# IS the number that will win.

I was getting .32 seconds pretty consistantly. Then I decided to change and try and anticipate when the color would change. I got a couple clicks too early and then got pretty good at it. I got as .14 which I thought would be my best...the very next try I got a 0 seconds! the .14 said "nice!" and the zero said nothing.

No. Super G gives you a higher speed of 108 Mbps (in theory), but is not compatable with 802.11a. The Super AG gives you the speed and compatability of 11b and 11a
-
As Rob has already mentioned, the main difference is speed. 802.11g is just an extention or upgrade to 802.11b and it is backward compatable. You can for instance have an 802.11b card and a 802.11g router and they will work fine together...but you will only get the speed of the lower 802.11b card.

Why not just create a forum like this one and setup different areas to post in. Each person can start a new topic and put there information in it and attach a picture. People who want to talk with others could reply to that topic. see this post for how the photos would work: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...indpost&p=50627

Ahhh, the old MS answer, "its not a bug, its a feature" answer Glad there was a switch to turn it off.
-
Yeah, I see you've change the forums. Now my original link doesn't work. I had this URL saved and it doesn't work now. http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/index.php I get this error Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: skin_global_9 in /home/total/public_html/forums/sources/ipsclass.php on line 1329 hmmm, never mind...its working now. I tried 3 times and closed out the browser and started a new one an got the same error. But I wrote the above note and tried agian and its working...Oh well. Ignore me darn bug is still here and its not on just the original as I thought. Last not was a reply (as this is)
-
Yeah, had me scratching my head when it happened to me. From what I know or have seen it happens when you originate the first note and then try to reply to it before any others replies to it. But I didn't do in depth testing to find out all I could about its full behavior. Alpha and Beta testing...boy its been awhile. I was pretty good at it back in the day
-
are you testing a bug? If its the one where you try and reply to a note and it becomes part of the original note...It happened to me last week.

MIke, see if this place has a replacement for you h_tp://www.bay-wolf.com/parts_insp1100.htm Actually I think the keyboard might be the easiest part to replace. If you can get the cover off its right on top and its a simple connection via a cable. Good luck.

Mike, 24 beeps is way to many for it to be an error code type of beep. I think its a stuck key or something stuck under the keys. If its an old laptop your only choices are to replace the keyboard or toss it if you can't clean it. You might be able to find a cheap one to use the parts from on ebay.

When you log into cpanel at the top of the page, it will say "welcome to serverXXX"
-
Thats not good. Here's an article I found in the Knowlegebase but I'm afraid it won't help you and you are stuck with reinstalling. h_tp://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=321305

Hi Mike, try the Recovery Consol and see if that helps. Start the computer with the Windows XP installation CD in the CD drive. When prompted during text-mode setup, press R to start the Recovery Console.

This is a fairly wide open question and can be answered several ways. Has TCH itself ever been hacked? I don't know for sure but I don't beleive it has since I've been here. Now on the other side of this question you would have to ask each individual member and I am sure you will find several yes answers. Each web site is responsible for their own content and some even upload and install their own scripts and programs. There are lots af them out there that have bugs and security holes and if the users of these scripts don't keep them updated are suseptable to being hacked. And yes I have seen several here that have been. BUT, that is not the fault of TCH. TCH is very proud of its uptime. But these are machines and its the Internet, things break and its not a perfect world. You may get on a server that has no issues for years, and it could be in a data center that never has any issues. You would be one of the lucky ones. And on the other side you could get a server that has a poor history. One month a memory chip acts up and cause a period of down time while they replace it and then end up replacing them all. Then the next month the hard drive goes bad and there is another downtime to replace it and reload the data from backups. Then the data center has a router problem and you are down because you are behind that router. This is a very extreme example but "could" happen...but I doubt it. There is no Hosting site that can garantee you perfect uptime. TCH has been better than most from what I have seen
