Here is a note on the forums here which talked about the changes in plans. Its date is Jul 6 2004, 06:07 PM http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...indpost&p=78073

The note you read was dated Aug 24 2003, 12:16 AM , those are old rates and the URL I gave you takes you to the current and correct prices. So the specs meet your requirements, but the choice is yours. Good luck in what ever you decide.
-
those look like the specs for the old plans offered at TCH. Thats what mine were when I originally signed up and they were upgraded to these current specs the end of last year (I believe). I would wagger that JTD's "friend" gave him the old ones. Looks like we may have a new family member

What I see here is different. Silver plan Total Features Monthly Price =$5.00 Yearly Price =$55.00 Monthly Bandwidth = 20GB Disk Space Allotment =850MB Deluxe plan Total Features Monthly Price =$8.95 Yearly Price =$98.00 Monthly Bandwidth = 35GB Disk Space Allotment =1000MB prices were taken from here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/web-hosting-plans.html

Hi Bill, You may have better luck asking on a forum that pertains to Windows users who have more experience with users and rights. With thats said, your problem may be in the rights you assigned to a user group. Sometimes one set of "rights" will override another set of rights simply by adding the user to another group. So look at which groups she is a member of and what rights the groups have. I suspect its a group you added her to just before the problem started. You could even remove her from a group, one at a time and check her access. If the files are seen you know which group has the rights problem.

What did you want to know? A "theme" is just a change to the way the desktop looks. The Icons, Wallpaper mouse pointer and fonts are change to look like a Mac. But just because it looks like a duck and talks like one...doesn't make it one. There are also programs you can add to make it work like one. But if you want a Mac, just buy one

No. Its basically used by Web Sites that use a HA (High Availability) solution, these are programs that will spread the web access to very busy sites across multiple server to "balance" the load and keep the web sites up and serving pages. You just type in the regular URL, for example www.TCH.com and the HA program takes over and determines which is the least used sever in its HA pool of servers and then redirects you to this servers URL. It could be www10.TCH.com or www32.TCH.com or they could use other names that they choose. They all have the same pages but teh URL is different.

What you are seeing is the fallout from one or more of the current Virus/trojans that are infecting thousands of computers out there. These programs search the net or the infected persons email addresses and use the domains it finds and assigns random names or letter to them and sends out Spam. There is not much you can do but weather the storm or set you default mail to ::fail::.

Let me get back to the original question... This is new territory for me also so I can only give you moral support. I would assume the wireless stuff would be easy. The PC would be used to setup the router which would assign IP's to the print servers if you use DHCP. But this might not work well and you'll probably end up having to manually assigning everything. Looks like the only choice you have is to setup a small testbed of say 2 printers and see how it goes, I see the HP Jetdirects are going for 2-3 hundred and this would cut down on cost if its not the correct solution.
-
Ok, misread or misunderstood the first post. Let me think on this a little and do some research later. I think only one print server is needed, not 5. Why are you setting up shop in a meat freezer? [will not complain about the 67 degrees here again]
-
Mark, sometimes its easy and sometimes its a bear. See if this article helps. h_tp://www.wi-fiplanet.com/reviews/article.php/3299911 Not sure I follow your explanation here. How will the other computers reach the printers if its not connected to them on some type of network? There are several ways to tackle to this task, and a print server would possibly be the simplest. But you also have the option of attaching each printer to a computer and then sharing it with everyone on the Network.

IEEE - Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers." A professional organization that helps set transmission system standards. 802.1x - "This IEEE standard can be used as a basis for authentication on all 802 networks, including Ethernet, token ring and WLANs. IEEE 802.1X specifies how EAP information should be encapsulated in frames. To be useful in enabling WLAN security, 802.1X must be supported by WLAN infrastructure equipment as well as mobile-device operating systems." In simpler terms, 802.1x is the way networks "talk" to one another, like a language you need to speak french to communicate with a frenchman. If you have a router that supports 802.11a, you need a network card that also supports 802.11a, otherwise they cannot communicate.

Yeah Bruce, I remember that you're a programmer and you have written several apps for the palm and it probably brings you some income. Sorry about that...but its not my fault Maybe you can get the Windows CE SDK and start porting over what you have written. The current apps will be good for a couple years.

Now that the hardware has caught up to the software, Uncle Bill wins again. h_tp://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/ptech/09/27/palm.microsoft.ap/index.html

Trouble Connecting To Secure Wireless Service
Madmanmcp replied to r32chaos's topic in Hardware Corner
Hi Martin, networking is a complicated process and you need to give us correct information before we can help with your problem. Netgear is a company that makes networking equipment, and Linksys is also a company tha makes networking equipment...both are totally independant and have no relation to the other besides making networking equipment. Sometimes they will work with one another, and sometimes they may not. So, tell us what operating system you are using, what brand router and what network cards you have. Next would be the protocol they support, 802.11a, 802.11b, or 802.11g. For best results you want all devices to be on the same one...but sometimes they are compatable with others and will work just fine. Since yours is not working I suspect you are mixing either manufacturers or protocols and will need to try and get them all in sync. -
An ad hoc network is a computer-to-computer network, the computers are directly connected/networked, usually wired. Open Network connections: To open Network Connections, click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections. Did you move your network to the top of the list? To change the order in which connection attempts to preferred networks are made, under Preferred networks, click the wireless network that you want to move to a new position on the list, and then click Move up or Move down. Try changing settings here: To change the wireless network connection settings for a network that is listed in Preferred networks, click the wireless network for which you want to change settings, click Properties, and then change the settings as needed. Try removing all the networks you don't want to connect to: To remove a wireless network from the list of preferred networks, under Preferred networks, click the wireless network that you want to remove, and then click Remove.

The instructions I gave were for Windows XP Home Edition. Do you have the latest Service Packs and Security Updates from Windows installed? I believe there were some wireless networking enhancements added in them and thats what I was possibly using. So from your Windows IE browser, click on TOOLS at the top and select Windows Update and from that page check for Upates and use the EXPRESS route for updates. You may need to reboot and return to the update site several times to get ALL of the patches and updates.
-
Ok, lets see if we can do something else. Right click on the wireless icon in the Systray and select View Available Wireless Networks. On the left side select "Change the order of preferred networks. In the list of networks, click and highlight your network and click the MOVE UP button to put it at the top. Do these following steps for all the other networks listed. click on the unwanted network name to highlight it. click the properties button. click the CONNECTION tab. uncheck "Connect when this network is in range" click the OK button. the "(Automatic)" should say (On Demand) now After all networks are changed, click the OK button to complete all changes. See if this helps.
-
What I believe is happening is the network settings for both your network and his network have been set to "Automatically connect". Because he is so close your PC is having a tug of war between the two networks and its trying to connect to the one with the strongest signal. You need to go into your settings and disconnect from his network and change the "Automatic" to "Manual". Rightclick on the wireless icon in the Systray (bottom right) and select View Available Networks. There is an option to refresh the available list, select this. You should see his and your network listed. Click on his and at the bottom of the page click the DISCONNECT (if its connected) button, if its not click the connect and then disconnect. Now click on your network and click on CONNECT. See if this clears up your problem.
-
My first question would be why have TWO wireless routers in the house? Or do you mean your neighbor is just very close. Now if you are jumping connections I would assume that your neighbor is not running a secure Network and at one point you connected to his and your now set to automatically connect to his. You can ask him to secure his network which will block you. Or the next time you are connected to it, DISCONNECT from it and it will stop connecting. It may ask if you would like to connect, you can then bypass it and connect to yours. The best thing to do is have him secure his.

Korean Mozilla Binaries For Linux Infected With Virus
Madmanmcp replied to borfast's topic in Security Discussions
Raul, I actually expected the bugs to be fixed by now...its now a couple days and there has not been a peep. I fear open source has gone the way of big software companies and there is to much red tape involved to release a fix as quickly as they did in the past -
I am not much of a game person, I play an adventure (Myst, Riven) style game or two but little else. Maybe someone else will be able to help with this question. Your best bet would be to print out the specs you listed for us here and take it down to the software store. Pick up a game and turn the box on its side. The specs for the PC and OS are listed on the outside and you will be able to tell if the games you want will run on it. I'm a tech, I've been in the computer business over 25 years. Friends, neighbors, friends of friends bring me their old computers to fix or upgrade. When I tell them its best to just buy a new computer they give me their old one...and I tell them no thanks, its too much trouble to arrange disposal for it. I also get good prices on PC sales my company holds when they are getting rid the old computers they have replaced with newer ones. The main word in my statement is I...you may have difficulty, but you may not be looking in the right places.

Wilba, I looked up the 900 series and didn't find many out there. What I found is that it was made about 4 years ago. I wouldn't spend more than $100 on a old Laptop like that. You can find plenty of newer models for $500 that will be faster and have more memory and better video for your games.

Paulo, as Jim has mention, yes its possible. In most chat clients you are at one point or another making a direct connection between computers. And when you connect one on one both computers need the address (IP) of the other to perform the communications. Here is a site that explains how. h_tp://www.techenclave.com/forums/get-ips-your-friends-yahoo-and-3253.html In most clients you can avoid giving out your IP by turning off the options that will expose your IP. In IRC chat I use mIRC and I specifically turn off DCC and do not accept any private chats with anyone.
