  1. ok - i shut off the norton 2005 completly - then went through the network setup wizard again. IT WORKED! however when i turn nortons back on, the network won't show up. All the other computers are running Nortons 2003. I think I am gonna delete his 60 trial of 2005 and install the full 2003 on his computer and see what happens. Thanks for hanging in there with me.
  2. Is there some place that I missed? Where all would I check to make sure sharing is on? The fire walls are off now.
  3. Ok - i just bought my son that Compaq for christmas - I just completed a full reformat and Install of his computer. It is back the way it came out of the box. However, i have ran the network setup wizard 3 more times and it still won't work. All the ip addys are different i.e. .100, .101, .102, .103. All of them have different Names and discriptions and all of them have the same workgroup name - MSHOME I ran ipconfig /all on each of them they are all the same except where Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : PHILLIP Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No The 3 that work say unknown but his says: Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid Is that anything?
  4. How would I check that? I have used the network setup wizzard several times, it says that it is setup but on the others it shows the "networked" computers right away after reboot, but for some reason this one won't.
  5. Just checked - all 4 computers have the same workgroup name - MSHOME What would happen if I changed all 4 computer workgroup names to say "network" or something - maybe if i try to setup the whole network again under and new workgroup name ...?
  6. Differnt question same "Home network" topic: I have 3 desktop computers and one laptop, with a 3meg dsl connection running through a Westell modem and a Linksys wireless router. Heres is my problem. The main destop comp is hardwired to the router while the other 2 desktops and laptop all run wireless through it. I have run the network setup wizzard the same on all 4 computers. The main destop, the laptop and 1 of the other desktops are all networked together and can pull files from each other and share the same printer. However the last desktop Will not allow any access to it or from it. On the main destop when i go to view workgroup computers, I can see that destop on the workgroup, but when i click on it i get an error message: "\\Brandon is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the Administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found." When I go to that destop and click on view workgroup computers I get this message: "MSHOME is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the Administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available." Any ideas why this one computer won't work on the network? I still has internet access. I have went into the router setup and verified all the ip addys are different. Even made sure all the firewalls on each computer is set the same.
  7. Ok, not sure if i will be able to explain this right but here it goes: I have 3 computers and a laptop all running dsl through a linksys wireless router. The main computer is hardwired and the other 2 computers and laptop are all connected via wireless. Is there away to have each computer with a different IP address? I was thinking before when someone else set up my router with one laptop and one desktop the the IP addresses was 1 number different. Here is the problem. There are several games that my kids like to play together like Diablo but since all the computers have the same ip addy, they get a error message that says something along the lines of, "the ip address limit has been exceded". or something to that effect. Can anyone help? Thanks, Phillip
  8. So on my current resellers acount you can not, how about if i go with a dedicated server? Before I switched back to TCH from Host Gator I was using whmautopilot, but i had to stop using it because I stopped using HG. They provided it for free if you wanted to use it and I paid them $25 to install it for me as I could not figure it out .
  9. On the dedicated server can i sell resellers accounts? And if so, do the extra whm controls come with them or just the one I would be using and I would have to add them somehow? ****also is there anyone that can setup the billing software for me on my current resellers acount?
  10. http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpost/index.php http://www.bluetack.co.uk/index.php I was talking with someone from another forums that i visit and they suggested i get Outpost Firewall and checkout Bluetack. Does anyone have any expierance with either of these two? He said a would be amazed about all the different sites out there that i might so to that run port scanning and put all types of stuff onto my computer, It has made me kind of nervous. I currently use nortons systemworks, Lavasoft Adware 6 and Spybot search and Destroy, but he says that doesn't protect my computer near enough. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on that?
  11. Thanks, hearing that someone else has had this problem or is having this problem gives me another direction to look. Maybe there is a bad line or something coming in from Verison and that is causing me to lose my signal.
  12. I have been having a problem with my Verizon DSL staying connected. I have and onboard ethernet connection. It started slowly, where 3-4 times a day i would have to go to my network connection and repair it and things would work fine. When it started happening evey 10-20 min. it made me mad and I started running my connection with a wireless pci card though my router. When it started happening with that card, I installed a NIC card that came with my Verizon modem. It started again. Several times aday, I lose my connection and I have to go to my Network connections and repair it. At first, I thought it was possibly a problem with my onboard ethernet port on my motherboard. That is why I had switched to my wireless card and now my pci nic card. So i took the computer back to the place I bought and had my motherboard installed. They was to busy to look at it till Tuesday, but said that from the sound of it he was 80% sure that it was a software problem and that I probably had spyware or a virus. I have ran spybot search and destroy, lavasoft adware 6 and my Nortons Anti-virus (full scan). We went 4 hours fine then bam! Lost connection again. Any ideas? Hardware? Software?
  13. I was looking at you dedicated server packages and was looking at your Semi-Dedicated Fully Managed Dual Intel P3 Server. Right now i am fimilar with resellers accounts and using whm and whm ap. My question is how much different is it going to be if I go with the above server? I noticed it has cPanel and WHM but are they already setup or whould I have to know how to set them up myself. I know how to make packages and setup accounts in WHM and how to navigate cPanel but wasn't sure if I would have you install and configure then on the dedicated server or if it was all ready to go just like on a resellers account. Was that as confusing for you to read as it was for me to type? ***also on dedicated servers do you offer anything like whmap or other type billing programs or would i have to provide that myself?
  14. That worked! thank you, it took awhile but with your help we got it! Thats why we like TCH and the family here so much.
