If you set your "email default address" then anything@****** will be forwarded. If you only want certain addresses, set the default address to >:fail: no such address here and then set up a forwarder for the actual addresses you want active. This is all done in Cpanel.

If you ask I can tell you why I love Firefox but it's up to you to decide what you like best. This is not correct. Although public employees are paid from government funds, they are not obligated to accept solicitations from anyone. The school teacher that gets a paper catalog in the mail has every right to call the company and ask to be taken off their list if he's not interested in their goods. Even more is the situation with UCEmail since the newest laws have been enacted. Many would say you are in violation unless they asked to be on your list. Just because my tax dollars pay the mayor's paycheck, it doesn't give me the right to sit in his office hours on end or chat on the phone with him all the time. These things would get me arrested if I was obstructing him from doing his job. Now, they won't throw you in jail for asking for info, but you and I certainly have no implicit rights to send spam to them just because of the one for whom they work. Of course, I'm no lawyer and you may consider asking one if you have the opportunity to make sure you don't get into trouble - some folks take the anti-spam laws very seriously and a school would have more chance getting you in hot water than a "normal guy" would if they were of the mind to do so. You could look at the stats for someone looking at *every* page of your site. Most folks don't do that and it's a sure sign that someone's harvesting something.

Another one that many of us use is SmartFTP at www.smartftp.com and for personal use is free. You'll have to judge which is right for you but the pay version is only $29.95 so it's good in either case that suits your needs. Renaming files is a harder one... there are few utilities that make this easy.

To Thomas and any other's who may not be familiar with "down-home Americana" there was a television program that started in 1969 called "Hee-Haw" that was a country-music-and-more type of comedy-ish show. It was good clean fun but it used the stereotypical hillbilly as a basis for the program. They were in a place called Kornfield Kounty (undoubtedly in my home state of Kentucky ) and added a lot of things to our collective awareness. There was one recurring scene where a used car salesman named Junior Samples of "Samples Sales" would go out and try to sell his old clunker cars. His phone number was BR-549 and it just stuck in everyone's head. When telephones were relatively new the phone numbers were not as they are now, all nice 10 digit numbers you have to write down to remember. They could do a whole town in just 999 numbers or less so the phones would be SM-231 or BR-549 which means the number is 549 and BR is the town identifier - maybe a down named "Bradenton" or something. Ah, for the old days. Anyway, that's probably more than anyone wanted to hear about it but I find it interesting when everyone my age-ish in the US knows exactly what BR-549 is but then we go into the global arena and lose some of our family members who scratch their heads and say "huh?" The best part of this whole story is that I had a good friend in southern Indiana named Steve Samples - who was a used car salesman - who everyone called Junior - who was overweight - who was a bit, shall we say "backwoodsish" - who had on his business card BR-549. Life imitating art or art imitating life?

Can't help you there, Rob. Folks around here (Florida Keys) say it's just a myth - along with temperatures lower than 41 degrees Fahrenheit (5 C) and frost. Welcome to your new home, Rebel. I never used shell on my previous host but when I came here it was available. I'll have to admit that it made me nervous because as a former unix programmer I know some of the risks. TCH has tight security but you can never be too safe. I was very glad a few months later when they discontinued the service. There are other alternatives and the folks here can help you figure how to do most anything you could with shell without it.

You do have an option of sending them out in batches. I think Dadomail is the name of a package that can do this.

Bruce, I read regularly from work and home. At work I usually use the "approved" IE browser and at home I have even deleted the shortcut to it so of course I use FF. I have not noticed any problem with View New Posts in either place under either circumstance. The onlyproblem is if I have only a minute to come look up something I remember was mentioned in the forums and I don't read all the new ones, the system knows I was here and resets the "new" pointer. Remember, it's posts since last log in, whether you catch up on your reading or not. That's the only problem I have and the solution is to not come here unless I have time to read the new posts. As far as I know nothing significant is customized on my stuff. Sorry you're having the problems but I'm not sure they can be described as FF problems.

Regarding the search engine portion of your question. If the blurb the search engine gives you is not the same as the page you go to when you click it then it is almost certain they are cloaking. They set up the web code to say "If the visitor is googlebot (or some other engine's spider) then show this page else show another one." The answer to "why" is that if they get 100 suckers and it takes the search engines 1 month to ban them then that's 3000 suckers paying $100 each which is $30,000. The truth is that they can ban a site for these techniques but they usually don't unless it becomes a full-on major issue. Seach for "google banned traffic power" and see what happened to thousands of sites that were wiped from the face of the internet overnight. You could study these sites to learn their tricks but it's best to make good solid pages that will never get banned that give your visitor what they want. Get the site "out there" and well seen and make it appealing to the visitors and make your money honestly and along the steady-and-sure method. The others work but so does the Nigerian 419 email scam.

Be careful when resetting the refresh rate on a monitor. As Microsoft says, you may damage the monitor (hardware) by setting an unsupported refresh rate. Make sure your monitor can handle the rate you desire to set it to before doing it. With that said, I did read somewhere that setting it to the highest supported rate will reduce the chance for noise.

Agreed that kludges aren't good solutions, but... if you care to post a site that is properly formed and "breaks" on FireFox, Raul or even I could find out what's causing the problem and report it to Mozilla and get it fixed. It's always better to report errors than to use an unsecure browser.

There are several good threads here so don't forget to search our forums. The keywords need to be phrases people will type into a search engine to find your type of goods. The brand names may not be the best unless it's world famous like "Beanie Babies". Perhaps something like "Baby clothing"... you'll be the best judge of the proper keyword phrases because you are the most familiar with the product and the kind of customer you attract. On Google it is essential to get as many links back to your site as possible. Link farms are worth almost nothing but related sites are worth more. The other engines try to guess what you're about by what's on your page... The phrases are good to place in the title of your page, headings, and, most importantly, the text of the page. Just be careful because putting the same phrase "everywhere" may cross the line and get you penalized. Your best bet is to just use the phrase where it makes sense to your visitor. For instance, if you have a site about customizing a GTO you should perhaps have the following: Title: GTO Customizations Headings: How To Customize Your GTO GTO - The Judge Limited Edition Custom suspension Finally, pick the key phrase you want and use it in the anchor text for links back to your site: ><a href="www.mysite.com">GTO Customizations</a> Hope it helps - feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

Hey BG! The common consensus among SEO experts (of which I do not count myself) is that google's link: command is either broken or purposefully evasive to keep SEOs from seeing too much of Google's way of thinking. Do not count on the link: command for anything other than sheer amusement. If there is a site out there and it is indexed in Google and it has a link to yours, it does count as a backlink in Google's weighting algorithm. There was conversations for months about how anything less than a PR4 doesn't count, but that's been shown not to be true either. Since I've gotten my gmail account I've forwarded everything there and to my "main" account. I figure I'll use Gmail as an archive and I can keep the other one cleaned out. As such I have used 5% so far. I'm also experimenting with how much spam gets thru and how well they catch it. I've been there since June 15 by the way.

More important than number of accounts, which can be uninformative depending on how they are used, is the server load. The loads I've seen while I've been here have all been very low. They monitor it as well so if something does go haywire like a user's script, the staff will be all over it.

It took me a long time to figure out the forum searches. As Lisa said you can look for one AND two to find both. Since there is a 4-character limit on search terms, if you are looking for PHP or something then be sure to use Don's idea... just go to google and put: PHP forum site:totalchoicehosting.com That last bit makes google only look on our site here for the results. You know, if they had an option to use advertiser-spiked search engines I'd probably turn it on to support Firefox and Mozilla.... but if it is "snuck" in there I'd hate them forever. I'd probably use Firefox anyway though. It's just that darn good.
