The list of attachments that are blocked are also posted on the TCH Help Web Site (click here) FYI, did you know that newer updates to Microsoft's Outlook Express will automatically configure OE to block users from sending or receiving Microsoft WORD (.doc) documents? So, one Microsoft product cannot include an attachment of another Microsoft product. Pure and simple --- it's the nature of the world we live in. Workaround? ZIP the files you wish to send as an attachment. -kw

To all: new servers (25 & 26) are being included on the various links on the home page of the TCH Help Web Site. -kw

TCH is currently running version 1.806 of DB_File - so you should be good to go! -kw

So, in order to keep Chucky (and others) from going in circles ... let me summarize, and someone tell me if I'm wrong: 1. We should be able to "unzip" files (created by PKZip or WinZip) via cPanel's File Manager 2. If we are not able to get the unzip to work, we should submit a help ticket. Correct? -kw

Can you identify who's PHP upload script you are trying to implement and/or where you got it from? -kw

An easy way to get your arms (and brains) around this, IMO ... is to consider the www/ directory like a mirror -- it is simply mirroring (reflecting) the contents of the public_html directory. When you look at yourself in the mirror, you see two of you, but there's really only one! Same thing here --- you "see" two sets of files (one in the public_html directory, and one in the www directory), but there's really only one set of files! -kw

You're welcome! :-) kw

Morganza, TCH not only has written tutorials, but movie tutorials as well, on setting up email at the TCH Help Web Site. click here. Oh, I just realized why you may not be working --- you need to enable 'my server requires authentication' -- it's identified in the TCH Help Web Site. -kw

ricky, I will make a note to add this info on the TCH Help web site. -kw

I'm on server 5. I zipped a single file on my PC (using WinZip 8.1), and FTP'd the file to my server, and could not 'show' or 'extract' contents of zip file. Message I got was: File Type: Zip archive data, at least v2.0 to extract -kw

Computers can be easily replaced. No so with data, people and memories. Hope all is well! -kw

no, you're not out of luck. Look at free service like TZO (www.tzo.com) which offers a free name service to an IP address. I use it to point to my inhouse Win2K server, and have email redirected to it. You sign up, and get a name like mysite.tzo.com - and a mailserver handle like mail.mysite.tzo.com . Enter the mail server handle into the modify MX entry field within CPanel. -kw

Wow -- someone should slap my hand and tell me to check my advice first, before giving it. I had no clue that support for Windows ZIP format was included in versions of Unix/Linux. When I work with Unix, I only think of GZ. (Note to myself: get your head out of your old 1970 vintage AT&T System V Unix book and learn more about Linux and RedHat and other flavors!) -kw

You can most certainly use the cPanel's 'Modify MX Entry' option to redirect incoming mail to a different mail server. I have done exactly that, and all I needed to do was to enter the name of the mail server (generally, in the form of mail.servername.com). Your problem is that entering an IP address is NOT acceptable (per cPanel's documentation). -kw

Jim's, recommendation to try it with only a few email addresses is a good one. Remember, you have to crawl before you walk, and walk before you run. Too often, we forget that, and in our hurry to bring something up, we feel like it must be "all or nothing". :-) kw

Did you try using the Auto Config option in cPanel? The reason I ask is that another user had a problem awhile back with OE, and using the auto config option worked. If Jim is correct about a possible problem with OE, it would be easy enough to check by going with another free email client program. One suggestion is Eudora, which I used for several years. -kw

GZIP & TAR are basic UNIX/LINUX utilities and formats for backing up and compressing files. TCH servers run LINUX as the operating system. ZIP is a PC (Windows) based ZIP format. As such, there is no built in support for ZIP formats, or for unzipping zip files! As Lianna says, unzip your files on your computer, then upload using either an FTP program or cPanels's File Manager. -kw

when you go in thru web mail (www.blackpyramidstudios.com/webmail ) can you successfully login? remember that outside of your web site's admin account, the account name for all email accounts is in the form of username@blackpyramidstudios.com also, another suggestion, try completely deleting your Outlook Express profile account and setting it up from scratch again. Or better yet, go thru cPanel, select Email > Manage Account, and click on the Outlook Express Auto Config option! -kw

Thomas -- my old friend! You can run, but you cannot hide. :-) kw
