Please review the revised Terms Of Service.... In addition, your failure to fully pay any fees and taxes within five (5) days after the applicable due date will be deemed a material breach of this Agreement, and TotalChoice Hosting may, in addition to any other remedy it may have: (i) suspend its performance of the Services and/or terminate this Agreement; and/or (ii) At the time of such nonpayment, TotalChoice may, delete any and all content from the TotalChoice Servers. Any such suspension or termination of the Services would not relieve you from paying past due fees plus interest. In the event of collection enforcement, you will be liable for any costs associated with such collection, including, without limitation, reasonable attorneys' fees, court costs and collection agency fees. Tell me TCH doesnt listen to the client base!

A password is not required to submit a help desk ticket. In the password and username box's simply enter "Unknown". Please submit your ticket to Technical Support and include the last 3 digit of the credit card used to order your hosting. We will then re-email your Welcome Email, which will contain all your username & password information. Thanks!

Agree, where have all the good authors gone to?

No not at all. I hope I answered all your questions, if not let me know. Bill

One point that lianna made that I should have made. This is YOUR data we are talking about. TCH assumes no liability for the loss of such, thus back up your own sites!

Here is our backup scheme. Each server has two drives. One primary drive and one backup drive. We run backups on each server. This is done daily, weekly and monthly and all these backups get dumped to the servers 2nd internal drive. This is our primary means of restoring data for clients. If your site needs a restore for any reason (hacks, client deleted files, etc) we go to the servers internal backup drive for this. Now all servers are also backed up from a remote server. The remote backup server is in a seperate datacenter that we use ONLY for the backup server. We do not have any other servers in this datacenter, only the backup server. The backup server is a beast. 1TB of RAID storage it really is a very nice machine. Remote backups are run every other day for each and every server. We backup the entire server, from FTP accounts to mail accounts we back up the entire server. This is what I refer to as, our last ditch effort. If both drives fail in any given server we can restore a server from our remote backup server. Servers get hacked, accounts get hacked, hardware fails, drives blow up. This is just a fact of life and it is part of this business. We understand this and have done our best to prepare for any point of failure. I hope this helps people understand our backup plans.

Server8 was worse case. Both the primary drive and backup drives went up in smoke. We had to pull data from a remote backup server in another facility. Best case we can restore accounts from internal back up drive. If a single site is hacked we can restore it to previous day backup in a matter of minutes.

Many have asked about the nifty little offline/online graphics that each guru has in their signature line. There is a custom bit of software that we have installed on a dedicated server and are now offering it to all our clients to use for free. If you would like to use the offline/online in your sig line, your web pages or whatever please feel free to do so. We did not code the software, its GNU freeware, we are simply providing the server on which it runs. To use this you need to go to; http://www.tchstatus.com:8080 And follow the simple instructions. Enjoy!

Enough said on this subject. This thread has ran its course. Thread closed.

Thanks Jim your kind words put a tear in my old blue eyes, it really is a big family here at TCH. Thanks

What about server26? Server26 had two bouts of down time. Each time we had the server back up from full restore within a respectable amount of time. These are computers afterall, things happen that are not within our control. We are in the process of inking a deal with a new 3rd party monitoring company. I will make announcement later today.

Slight correction needs to be asserted on your assumption that we took a big hit. There is no need for you to be sorry as you are incorrect. 99.9% uptime is averaged over all TCH servers. This is averaged over a 12 month period. Let's do some math, shall we? 55 Virtual Servers 99.9% = 43 minutes down time per month. 2365 minutes per month is our allowable down time based on 55 servers to achieve a 99.9% uptime. (40 hours per month.) We are WELL within our advertised 99.9% uptime. Server8 is a perfect example. That server had seen 99.9+% uptime over the past 12 months until yesterday. Then it melted down yesterday. Average yesterdays outage over 12 months and what do you get? 365 days x 1440 Minutes (24hours=1440 minutes) = 535600 minutes. We had a 9hour outage yesterday that equates to 540 minutes. 99.9% = 43 minutes per month or 516 hours per year. So the users on Server8 have has a 99.89% uptime ratio over the past 12 months. Secondly, we do not promise or guarantee any percentage of uptime. If you look close you will see the graphic says "99.9% uptime". It does not say "99.9% uptime guarantee". Not bad for a host that charges $4.00 per month for hosting. I am open to discuss our bad uptimes numbers with anyone, until then I regress.

alertra sucks! Official Response to follow later today.

You need a firewall/router to protect you. Your popups are not related to your web server. BTW - I bought a G4 Ibook.... Its now for sale any buyers?
