  1. I tried sending an email through one of my sites hosted here at TCH and this box popped up: I clicked "View Certificate", which produced this: I've sent mail through my BRBonline.com account before but haven't received that kind of warning message before, anywhere. For now, I'll stop using that address until I know whether or not it's really something to worry about. I googled around for info on servernode.net but didn't find anything that enlightened me. I did a whois on the domain name and tried to go to the domain indicated in the DNS listings but the URL returned a "Not Found" error. Am I being overly cautious? I just don't know. Perhaps I'm a little paranoid since my BRBonline.com site, which was hosted elsewhere at the time, got defaced earlier this month (then the host disappeared without explanation, so I moved the site here). Suggestions?
  2. Very clear. Thanks. Thumbs Up
  3. Well, that's it then. The other guy has been down for a week without a peep and, apparently, you guys can reasonably expect less than 14 hours down in the worst case. I'm about to open a second hosting account with TCH.
  4. At the other hosting company, it wasn't just my account that was hacked and defaced, it was apparently most or all of the accounts hosted by that company. So, if something like that happened here, about how long would it probably take until everything was restored from backups?
  5. I now wish I'd found TCH before I got one of my sites hosted by a certain other company, which shall remain nameless for now. Last Thursday night, January 8, that other host got defaced. I went to my site and saw this instead of my index page: I went to the host's home page and saw the same thing. Now, about a week later, my site and that host's site (and, presumably, all the other sites hosted by them) is still down. The domains are "not found". I've heard nothing from the host. How likely is that to happen here? What measures has TCH taken to prevent catastrophies like that one? Needless to say (but I'll still say it), I'm not really thrilled with that other host these days.
  6. I have another pre-sales question. This one might seem strange but please humour me. If I start a site here using domain name A and have domain name B parked on it, can I later change to having domain name B as the primary and domain name A as the parked one? (If the answer is yes, I'll probably be starting sooner rather than later.)
  7. Good. I appreciate all the help. I'll know where to come crying if I screw up the transfer.
  8. About MySQL versions... My current host uses MySQL version 3.x and TCH uses 4.x Is that likely to be a problem when I transfer my forums here?
  9. Okay, some time before the final transfer is done, I want to do a test run. I have the .com .net and .org of our domain name. Of course, one will be primary and the other two will be parked. On our current host, the .net is primary but I want to change that when we make the move. So, some time before we make the move, I plan to set up the new account here with the .com (when the time comes, I'll park the .net and .org here). I'll try to transfer the board over and, once I'm confident that I can do it successfully, I'll delete what I moved and move it all over (some days or weeks may pass between the test and the final move, so it'll all be out of date by then). Then, I assume that I'll have to do a bit of editing to make sure phpBB knows that the .com and not the .net is the primary. Does that make sense? Does it sound like it would be effective?
  10. The main component of our site is our message board. It's phpBB We are considering a move, although it won't be very soon because we've got a number of months left before what we've already paid for at our present host runs out. The key question for me is this: is there likely to be any difficulty moving the board intact, without losing the message base or user base data?
