  1. Welcome to the forums, suji. I would be assuming your "local" means inside your country. The advantage of hosting websites within your country is faster internet connection, because the data do not need to go through many hops before getting to you. That being said, it can be more complicated... because the web host may have slow connection to the main network(s) within your country. And support and customer service will depend on the web host you use. Personally, I would still stick with TCH. Even though it's "overseas" relative to Asia and Europe, the speed of transfer is really negligible... data transfers over the internet in milliseconds. The customer service and support at TCH are excellent too! Simply said...
  2. I don't use galleries myself, but quite a number of people seem to recommend Coppermine. You can install it via fantastico.

  6. I've never managed to game for more than 6 hours... after which I just so tired (and, frequently, bored), I'd have to stop and do something else for a while before getting back to it.
  7. Hmm... a large permanent puddle on the ground? *giggles*

  11. Welcome to the forum, gtille. mostwanted: I don't know much about CGI programming personally, but you can find out more searching the web. One (outdated) place that can give you a good start is Webmonkey (h_tp://webmonkey.wired.com/webmonkey/programming/perl_cgi/). Not sure exactly what languages can be used for CGI, but I know Perl seems to be the most common. As I understand, CGI scripts are basically for data processing. They take data that you or your website visitor inputs, process it and present it in another way.
  12. Haha... or perhaps just running water? Would save the washing and re-filling. Could it possibly be too deep for the other birds, but just nice for the big crow? I've seen birds taking their bird bath on puddles on the road, and it's very shallow.

  24. I guess a source for spammers to get email addresses is those forward mails. After 10 forwards, I would guess there's about 200 emails inside the foward. Maybe spammers get their hand on such forwards eventually and can discover your otherwise unpublished email address?
  25. I see the page the same as Bruce. Somehow I have a feeling that the user comment is encoded in something other than the "Universal" (UTF-8) or "Western" (windows/ISO) encoding... because I know English typed under Traditional Chinese (BIG-5) systems appears wider and larger than when typed with "normal" English systems.
