Wow, thanks John. I am a little speechless at the moment. I have one issue with this though. I believe that to be incorrect. YOU are our most important customer. It matters not whether you are on the lowest monthly plan with one domain or have hundreds on a dedicated server. Without each and every person here this wouldn't be the same family. No favorites, no preferences, just one big happy family.

There are two for Apache; Apache Mod_SSL and Apache OpenSSL. Looks like we have both. I think you will be ok on it. I was referring to converting it to SSL, you have to modify a couple of things. After that you are on your own buddy. I will assist any way I can.

Groovy, I will leave it to the Gurus to confirm but you need to be sure it is the correct Apache SSL before transferring it. You should open a ticket to do the transfer and include your key. You will need to pay the setup fee as well. As for the OSCommerce, I use it and set up my SSL after I had created the site. Piece of cake and I can assist you on where to make the changes. Remember that OSC only uses the SSL after you have entered the cart area and for payments. Works like a charm though. I am not sure how it will work before propagation. Gurus?

Jack, Let me address your cons for a moment. Fees - Shop around and haggle. They all want your business and are willing to do things to get it. Monthly fees - for me, worth it. Accepting credit cards has gotten me more business. Gateway interface - Many of them have an IPN that you can just cut and paste code. SSL - Took about a week, cost wasn't that bad. Here is the thing with all this, it is start up. Yes I had to pay to start accepting credit cards and yes I had to pay for the SSL. Now, since I have started accepting cards and have gotten the SSL I have had more customers. I don't get that many visitors, 2600 uniques last month, it is almost doubling every month though. What makes up for it is that accepting cards and the SSL has given me a bigger ratio of customers versus visitors. I am more than happy to pay what they are asking.

Jack, I cant agree more. I still go and look at the posts that have been made to see if there is something have missed. Scott has been on the money every time. Slowly I am getting to the position you are. Many of the pages I have do first page, I just need to work on the home page a bit more. First Jim... A bit off the subject but is there anything the captain doesn't supply or do you just have to bring yourself? I am in need of links on my site, but I wouldn't use an exchange. I think it takes from the feeling of a "real" business and gives it an "I'm just playing at this" kind of feel.

Ogged, For as long as I have been looking at the "Latest Visitors" in CPanel it has been displayed as an IP. It would be interesting to see it the other way. I will say I prefer it as an IP though. I can track abusers easier and handle them as needed.

I think for clarification, most virus are made for Windows. I have used Outlook and OE for years in one form or another. Before I got AVG when it was recommended a few months back I hadn't used Antivirus software. In that time I hadn't had my computer infected either. Just be smart about the email you get. Lets take the last issue you were talking about, Sven. Just because you got the email doesn't mean you are infected. "Sven" my wife got one I just deleted it. No infection. Something you may want to consider as well that was recommended is Mail Washer. I have been using it and can see what is being sent and it gives me a bit of the message without me ever downloading it. I can have it deleted right there and never have it make it to my email client. Nothing wrong with changing what you are using. Just don't do it in the hopes that you are totally safe. If they want to get you it wont matter what you are using. If everybody used Linux you would see many more virus written for it instead. Not to bash anyone but I wouldn't write a virus to exploit a MAC because I wouldn't get the recognition from it. Should I infect 100 million users on Windows or the ten on a MAC.

When I have an interest in an IP from email or server logs I go to dnsstuff.com. They have some good tools there to use for getting information.

Welcome to Domain Expiration 101. I don't have a chalk board but lets see if I can make this easy to understand. Keep in mind these times may vary a bit depending on the original registrar. Here is what happens once a domain has expired. First it isn't dropped right away. Just like if you don't pay your electric bill the day it is due doesn't mean they come out at the end of the day to shut you off, the registrar gives you time to bring the name current. This can be from 30 to 45 days on average. Next, if it is a .com or .net Verisign who controls those TLD's activates what they call a redemption period. This gives the original owner a chance to get the domain back at an inflated price, this can be $90 or more depending on the registrar and what they want to charge. The bulk of this goes to Versign. This is 30 days. If not paid in those 30 days then it is released into the wild on the 35th day. This means there can be up to 75 days before a domain is really up for grabs. If you think these domains may be taken as they may be popular then you may want to consider backordering them. It is a bit more than just registering them outright but you have a better chance of getting them than waiting. If that is a possibility you can backorder here. Scholar, Forgive me if I don't say who I am using as my gateway. It isn't that I don't like them but I feel that if I were to point you in a direction that doesn't work out it does more than have a negative effect on me. That said, you can find better gateway processors than what I am using. Mine was a bit costly out of the gate and I am too cheap to change now. Here are some things to look for. Set up fees, how much is it going to cost you to just to have them get you going? Application fees, is there one? Some don't charge a thing. Do they have an IPN so you don't have to use their software? What is the transaction fee and what percentages are taken per sale? Those fees are pretty stable for the most part. What is your monthly gateway fee and bank fee? I pay $20 each to the gateway company and card processing company and then some more for the AMEX and Discover. All in all though it runs me about $50 a month to accept cards. Shop around, some places will promise to beat other places prices. Google the term and start shopping. Don't forget, get as much information as you can on each place to compare.

Not unheard of at all. I use OSCommerce and all of my transactions keep you on the site and everything is done behind the scenes. There are packages made to make it work for many gateways. Having said that, I am not sure of the possibilities with your shopping cart. What cart are you using? Edit: I guess it would help if I looked further into your site. Here is what I found at drupal. Everything I can find on that site suggests that there is no availably to integrate one into the application unless one is willing to create their own. It looks like it is just set to be a CMS. Not that you can not do it but you would need to get the specifics for your gateway and create it yourself.

You aren't slow. Manuals are written by people that already know the product and the jargon that goes along with it. You just needed a god protocol droid to interpret it for you.
