ok, does your SMTP servers match in the two? What about sending using authentication in one versus the other? I know with my broadband provider I can not send using my SMTP for my domain but have to send using my ISP's SMTP server.

The one with numbers after it is a backup of the last one before a change was made, kind of like htaccess.old or .bak. This way if your .htaccess file isnt working as it should and you cant remember all of the changes you made you can delete it and rename the one with the numbers after it to just .htaccess and things will be as they were.

It really depends more on the receivers ISP. If it is like some you may only get 2MB of mailbox space and the maximum one can receive is 2MB - size of files already in mailbox. There is no way to change that unless the ISP has greater plans. Want to make it simple? Upload it to your web space and send a link that the person can click on and choose to save it to disk.

In response to your specific question; No, there is no advantage in this. A seperate URL pointing to a page in a subfolder of your main domain will gain nothing for search engine placement. A search engine spider will follow all links on your site so a link from your home page is fine. Want good rankings on each page? Optimize them independantly, dont spend money on more names. As far as how does it make it easier on my visitors, see my example in my post above.

You can accomplish this without a php.ini setting by using the function: session_set_cookie_params(int lifetime [, string path [, string domain]]) How about editing .htaccess: php_value session.gc_maxlifetime 72000 php_value session.cookie_lifetime 72000 You can find info on customized timeout sessions at http://www.phpfreaks.com/tutorials/77/6.php I have not tested these myself but it is something to look at. I can not verify they will work but it is a start.

Lets see if I can beat Bruce to this. If you have a domain name you do not need to purchase another domain name to make use of the subdomain feature. I use them to make things easier for my visitors versus any SEO possibilities of which I see none. For something simple like that I find it using the File Manager in cPanel and edit it right there. Click save at the bottom and bingo, all fixed.
