  1. It is not a winmodem. I cannot bypass the router. Bob
  2. I frequently get timeout errors when attempting to check my mail: "Task 'XXX@chessassistance.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x8004210A) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. " etc. I'm using outlook 2002. Although I've had the problem occur with TheBat! as well. 90% of the time when this happens, I've received an e-mail with an attachment. I've set the server timeout for about 5 minutes. AFAIK, it happens with every account in my domain. 10% of the time, none of the e-mails on the server have attachments, and I still have the problem. Once I delete the message(s) from the server (using webmail), everything is ok. Also, many times, I am not able to send e-mail with attachments either. And yes, I checked the list of attachment extensions that were not allowed. This happens about 80% of the time. Same thing happens, timeout error, and there is no network traffic. Is there any way to fix this? In the past, it has been suggested that I (a) get a new e-mail client and ( use webmail. Neither of these solutions is palatable for me. One factoid: I access the net through a dial-up/analog router. Bob
  3. Hi, The demo plays fine when I preview it locally. Then for some reason, after it is uploaded, I get the problem where it restarts on every frame... Bob
  4. Hi all, I've put together a flash tutorial, and have put it up on my site. However, I've noticed that when I play it back on my machine, the following happens: Frame 1 loads, plays back. Screen goes blank Frame 2 loads, starts playback from begining (i.e. with frame 1). Screen goes blank Frame 3 loads, starts playback from begining (i.e. with frame 1). The tutorial is located at: http://www.chessassistance.com/downloads/f...ion_dialog.html So every time a new frame loads, playback restarts from beginning. This turns a five minute tutorial into something like a 1/2 hour tutorial. Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can fix this? Is it a browser problem (IE 6), server problem, flash problem, authoring, or connection problem? Thanks, Bob
  5. Go to keyword "Open mail". AOL now supports IMAP, which will allow you to check your mail with outlook. I use it, and it works sorta. Outlook does lock up at times, but I don't know if that is because I am using dialup. Bob
  6. Wonderful, that did the trick! Thanks for the prompt response! Bob
  7. The problem is not ssh, it works. Lynx is the problem. I mentioned ssh in case it has some bearing on the solution (doubtful). Best, Bob
  8. Hi all, I am trying to run lynx over ssh, and when I attempt to start it, ie. I type: lynx I get the following error: Configuration file (null) is not available I suspect that maybe this is an issue with permissions not allowing me access to the lynx config file. Is there a fix for this? Thanks, Bob
