  1. If you have your SMTP set to mail.earthlink.net, Earthlink is the one you need to contact support with to troubleshoot your outgoing mail. If sprint doesn't block port 25, you could try changing your outgoing SMTP to mail.****** to use TCH as your outgoing SMTP. If they do block it, you could try changing your SMTP port to 26 and see if that works. Give those a try and see if that helps any, and let us know how it goes. See our help site for some details on setting up your Outlook to use TCH's servers for both sending and receiving. If you need any more info, feel free to ask here.
  2. We don't allow the users to add parked domains on their own. If you need parked domains on your account, just submit a help desk ticket with the domains you want parked and what account you want them parked on.
  3. Make sure you wear the appropriate protective gear. I recommend a helmet along with elbow and knee pads.
  4. I think part of the confusion is your old theme you have that account set to that I mentioned in my PM to you, Weezy, which still has a link to the old GB if you go to CGI scripts. To find the newer GB in that theme, you want to go to "Tools", then find "Addon Scripts", scroll all the way down, and you should see a link to "AdvancedGuestBook". Click on that, and you should get to a screen that shows "AdvancedGuestBook 2.3.1 Setup".
  5. With most registrars, if your domain is locked, you cannot transfer the domain, nor change the nameservers or contact information for the domain. In order to make those changes, you need to unlock it first. See TCH's domain locking FAQ for TCH registered domains.
  6. I believe it's largely due to some registrars making it considerably difficult for their customers to transfer to another registrar. Quite frankly, I already know of a couple of domains this will save me a lot of paperwork on to get transferred.
  7. It depends on your registrar. If you have TCH as your registrar (or GoDaddy), there's a simple "Set Locking" button on Manage Domains page.
  8. Just keep in mind that you can upgrade now through cPanel (addon scripts) so you don't have to use the method I posted in that thread to upgrade, but the other info is still accurate.
  9. All accounts have a shared IP address (unless you have your own SSL certificate). Some servers just simply have that field display turned off.
  10. That version of the guestbook is easily hacked. You should basically backup your database, delete *ALL* of your guestbook templates, and upgrade to the newer version available in cPanel. If your entries are too far gone, you may want to consider starting with a fresh install of Guestbook. But by all means, upgrade or remove version 2.2 because they can do much more than just deface your guestbook.

    Wow!

If it's a .com or .net, Verisign increased the update frequency (see the previous notice here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...topic=12873&hl= ). Some other TLD's always have updated frequently.
  12. Just to be completely accurate, there is an anti-abuse header attached, but this doesn't show up for recipients unless they view full mail headers. It's not done for advertising, it's done to track abuse should someone try to spam from TCH servers. Example: >X-AntiAbuse: This header was added to track abuse, please include it with any abuse report X-AntiAbuse: Primary Hostname - server64.totalchoicehosting.com X-AntiAbuse: Original Domain - recipientdomain.com X-AntiAbuse: Originator/Caller UID/GID - [32328 828] / [47 12] X-AntiAbuse: Sender Address Domain - sendingdomain.com

    Www

But no one does it near as well as you, Rob.
  14. You can do it through htaccess redirects, but it's easier just to do it the way you did.

    Dsn

The hostname for your database is indeed "localhost". And you can start setting that up as soon as your account is ready. You just won't get any traffic on that account until the DNS changes propagate.
  16. I only had to wait 10 minutes, but I went to the polling place before work, so it was still pretty early. Plus, the polling place was half a block away. I couldn't even use laziness as an excuse not to vote.
  17. It's the price of popularity. If your site is popular, you will have to pay the fees to keep it up. But if your site is really that popular, you can often offset your fees (or even make money) by selling advertising or by asking your visitors to donate (depending on the type of site you have). If you have someone maliciously using up your bandwidth, you can block them using the IP deny feature in control panel. Bandwidth is also going to be affected by the content of your site. If your site is just web pages being displayed, you will have to get quite a bit of traffic before you have to worry about running out of bandwidth, but if you are providing downloads of any sort, movies, audio, or something else that is large in size, then you will have to watch your bandwidth (for example, I posted a single 6 MB home video up of Batman's vehicle during filming in Chicago in my blog, and that alone accounted for almost 900 GB's of bandwidth used in August... that's an extreme example, but gives you an idea of what you should be careful of).

  19. I bought my parents a new HP desktop about 2 years ago. Works great for them so far. (since I live in another state from them, I bought them something they could take to a local best buy and get serviced if it had a hardware problem). Only thing I didn't like about HP (but is true with most big name brands) is the amount of advertising they install with the Windows OS.
  20. There are two parts to the permission changes.... the read/write/execute checkboxes and the Permissions values. If you change the permissions by selecting the correct checkboxes and hit save, it should work 100% of the time. If you change the permssions by trying to set the numeric values and hit save, it will do nothing (your permissions won't change). Poor design on cPanel's part.

  22. That's because that quote was taken out of context from a different thread with a different audience. In this thread I asked specifically to submit a help desk ticket if you are affected by this problem.
  23. Well I guess thats debatable , Etanisla says its legitmate mail and "should" be able to receive it. If the mail would be sent here they would probably receive it. So if its not a problem here, where is the problem? The problem really is that SPF is so new. It's a good concept (I'm still debating how people implement it in practice), because it allows a domain to specify "only these machines are allowed to send mail for me". This blocks a lot of the joe-jobs and viruses that get sent out with spoofed addresses. What we are seeing right now, though, is some hosts are trying to force the maturity of SPF by switching from what most did in the past - only block or mark as spam if an SPF is defined AND the mail came from a non-authorized host, but don't mark as spam if no SPF is defined - to a more restrictive method of marking as spam if it didn't come from an authorized host (which if an SPF is not defined, no hosts are authorized). Some will just give SPF authorized email a lower spam score (so if it looks like spam, and the domain doesn't have SPF defined, it may be high enough to go over the score needed).
  24. One way you could set that up is to create the subdomain, and then set up redirection so that it redirects to your main domain. Both of these options should are available in your cPanel. Edit: Sorry, realize now that midiminio.com is saying the same as ****. I'm a little slow at times.
  25. A clarification... Your registrar has nothing to do with your SPF setup. Your name servers do (where your name servers are hosted). If your name servers are located at TCH, regardless of who your registrar is, you can submit a help desk ticket to have the TXT record for your SPF setup for you, but you will have to provide the exact SPF string you want defined. (Note for resellers: You can define your own DNS entries in WHM for your clients). And for those onlookers who are completely confused.... SPF stands for Sender Policy Framework. Bob, the problem really isn't with GMail. They are just using one of many spam fighting methods to help identify what is legitimate mail. Having an SPF record defined does help your email to no be blocked or marked as spam by email providers.
