How To De-activate An E-mail Account
TCH-Rick replied to hindixp's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
In that case your would set the forwarder to :fail: No such address here. -
Can you provide a link so that we can see the exact error message and determine where the problem might lie. I spent some time looking at your Help Desk ticket but there was no information about where the code is located so I could not do much. There was no user connected to the database and I corrected that.
-
I don't know how big your database is but if it is very large you should ftp the .sql file into your root directory and submit a Help Desk ticket asking that we import the data into your database. Just be sure to include the database name, username, and password along with the name of the sql file you have used.

Thanks. You should be able to change the permissions using File Manager now.
-
If you will give me your domain name (or even better, the server you are on) I will have a look. There is a fix for the File Manager permissions problem that I can run to fix it but it will be quicker if I know which server needs it.

You would need to check with PHPNuke or in a forum dedicated to using PHPNuke for more information. There are plug-ins for PhpNuke to add these types of functions. That is not something we can do as a part of tech support. There may be users in the forums that have done so and can help. I would check in some PhpNuke forums as well, though, as they are dedicated to that application.

Yes, it is possible to change your domain name. The best option is to register the domain name and set the nameservers to the ones in your welcome email first. That way the domain can begin to propagate. Then open a Help Desk ticket requesting the change complete with the CPanel information for your existing account and we will change the domain name on the account.

You may need to put in a Help Desk ticket to have the IP added to the DNS Zone if you are using the domain name as a part of your home webserver.

If a server goes down none of the services you have mentioned would be available until the server is back up. As for the email, it really depends on the server sending the email. If your mail server is unavailable it should retry later. This is generally set up to retry for several hours if not days. The mail will be delivered when service is restored. The mail server is the same physical server as your site server. We do not have a mirrored server. Backups are made offsite so that if a server were to crash and could not be restored a new server can be brought online and the sites copied from the backup.
-
Parked domains do have email available. You just set them up in the main account CPanel. Add-on domains are available on reseller accounts and can be pointed to a subdomain.
-
It doesn't appear that you have changed the nameservers to ns1.totalchoicehosting.com and ns2.totalchoicehosting.com as mentioned in your welcome email. This has to be done with the registrar of the domain for the domain name to point to our servers.

I am seeing the site fine from SC. You would need to set them up individually. There is a risk to be aware of as well in this type of application. If someone decides to use their email account in a manner that is in violation of the AUP it can result in the whole site being suspended. It pays to be careful in allowing users to have an email account.

Can't help with the admin password, that would be set up in the script. Some have a default password that you can change while others require you to set up the password in a config file somewhere. You should set the permissions to 755, even if the docs for the script say otherwise. Perl scripts will not run with permissions set to 775 or 777 on our servers.

Add the following commands to your .htaccess file in the folder containing the php script (or create an .htaccess file if none exists.) php_flag display_errors on php_value error_reporting 7

All you have to do is change the namerservers with register.com to the ones you are given in the Welcome Email when you sign up.
-
There is a bug in File Manager that keeps permissions from changing. You can change the permissions using an FTP program such as SmartFTP or CoreFTP. If you will tell me what server you are on (look at the Welcome to server## message when you log into CPanel) I will look at editting a file that should get the File Manager to work as well.
-
In order to help we would need the domain name. If you do not want to give the domain name out here send it by Private Message (PM) to one of us and we can look at it further. If the domain has not propagated you will need to use the IP address as the host address.
-
We run suexec for security and you cannot have the script permissions set at 766. Try running the scripts set to 755 instead and they should run fine.

My son is in South Korea and has not had problems opening pages on our site. I looked and saw many clients from Japan and many of them have been here quite a while. I suspect Dennis is right and there was some sort of routing problem in the network there when you were trying to access the site.

There is a directory in your root directory called .spamassassin. You can edit the user_prefs file there to add more whitelist or blacklist entries.
-
The AddType information you mentioned is included on our servers. Here is the code directly from the relevant file on our servers: AddType text/vnd.wap.wml .wml AddType image/vnd.wap.wbmp .wbmp AddType text/vnd.wap.wmlscript .wmls AddType application/vnd.wap.wmlc .wmlc AddType application/vnd.wap.wmlscriptc .wmlsc

Born in the USA. Currently in Greenville, SC. I spent a year in San Jose, Costa Rica and nearly five years in Colombia.

Domain registration is not included with the purchase of a hosting account. It is a separate transaction. You can register the domain for $10.95 a year with us or you can register with a different registrar and have the nameservers set tho the ones given in your welcome email. It will take 24-72 hours for the domain to propagate once it is registered.

Cannot Retreive My E-mail!
TCH-Rick replied to ryanscottottney's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
If there is a problem to fix you need to submit a ticket at the Help Desk. Include the username and password for an account that is not working so that we can test it. We can do very little with these types of problems from the forums. I did check the mail log that logs connections for one of the domains your mentioned and saw one account was connecting every two minutes over a period of time. Checking email every minute or two can cause several problems including locked mailboxes.
