  1. Here's my reco list. Several are cross-matches from Section31's list....I take it that's a good sign. (Not all software on that page, I know.) Lianna
  2. Welcome home! Lianna
  3. Yeah, even you (KW) would admit that what I discovered was primer stuff, right? Since I think that you actually point out the same material repeatedly on another forum we frequent. Tell me often enough and eventually it'll sink in. I love the Alphabits commercial they play on PBS. It goes something like: Celebrating the 26 letters that make thousands of words that create millions of stories. ...I'm starting to put the letters into words... Lianna
  4. Ah, good job KW! Thanks. Lianna
  5. Dave, First, sorry for the name confusion. ***** Hosting has recently changed their name to TotalChoice Hosting, but that's all that's changed, just the name. Second, we get asked this question all the time! Which first the domain name or a place to put it? I would buy the hosting after having ensured that my domain name will be available. When you get your welcome letter from TCH for hosting, it will include the Name Servers that the domain should point to. That will help in the purchase and setup of the domain name. My opinion, Lianna
  6. By the way, I'm thinking about this being an ISP issue? You could test that too by trying to access your mail from another pc using another ISP, still set up with OE6. Lianna
  7. So same problem using Eudora, right? Then I agree, the most likely spot is the ISP....except that you mention a router. You have a router? Are you using the router to share the dialup or just network? If for sharing the dialup, have you tested your mail directly with the dialup (bypassing the router)? See troubleshooting some of these issues is like paring an apple. Start by taking off the stem, then the peel, then eventually you can get to the core. But you have to test the elimination at each step to isolate the source. Every piece of hardware, and some software, that you put into the mix can make the outcome a bit different, like adding cinnamon, but no nutmeg, you know? Makes that apple pie taste different. Are you comfortable using Horde or Neomail? That may be a less aggrivating solution for you. Lianna
  8. You're welcome. And if you can't find everything you're looking for there, please let me know. Lianna
  9. OMGosh. You're a nut! Lianna
  10. Try here for some documentation on Analog. http://www.analog.cx/docs/reports.html
  11. Hi. I think that I can identify a couple of quick corrections to your page. Here is the code directly from your page. First the image does not appear. Its source is in the code as images/splashimage.jpg, however if you try to go directly to that image, it cannot be found. Did you upload the splashimage.jpg to the public_html/images/ directory of your site? If so, double check the case sensitivity. The file on the server must be named in all lowercase for your code to see it (or the code must be changed to reflect the file name). Second, your link to home: must be changed to include the file extension for the page called home. So if that page is called home.htm, then your code must reflect that.htm file extension. However, I cannot seem to find a page on your site called either home.htm or home.html. So is that page uploaded to your public_html directory? If so, then check the case sensitivity on it as well and adjust your code to include the file extension properly. Lianna
  12. First, if you haven't done so, go update your name servers with your domain's registrar. Your welcome email gives you all the info for doing that. If you need help with it, please post your domain name here. Next, commense uploading your site if you have not already done so. Then, setup any email accounts that you may want to use with your domain name. That should get you headed in the right direction. Lianna
  13. First, we need some more info. Are you on a dialup connection and have you talked to your ISP about this issue? What version of OE are you using and have you made sure it is up to date with the latest and greatest of offered updates from Microsoft? Last, have you tested the receipt of large attachments using another client and if so what were the results? Here's my take. Since you've had the problem with both hosts, that eliminates them from the 'cause' list. If you have tested with another client (pc based, not web based), and the results were the same, seems apparent that your ISP would be the one to talk to. There may well be a choke in their system or they have a "period of inactivity" setting in place. You see, when you are downloading, the ISP may actually see you as Idle because you are not initiating interaction with the web (upstream traffic). Check out any freeware pc base email application to test the 'client-culprit' theory first if you haven't done so. You can download and install Eudora Light to test. It's free and the download will take 15-30 min. on a dialup. Let me know what happens with all of this info and possible testing. Lianna
  14. Igor, It's nice to meet you. Man, that's really tall. I'm only 5'3"! First question was how to block access to the images folder. You can use the PassProtect from within cPanel to assign a username and password for access to the folder /images. Second question was how to configure Outlook Express. For the main account (the name that you use to login to cpanel with) its username is just the name. But for all created email accounts, you must set the username to myname@**** (the full email address). Your incoming (pop3) and outgoing (smtp) mail servers should be set to mail.****. **Of course, replace my reference to mydomain to your domain name and myname as the email account that you created. Does that help? Lianna
  15. Vote for your favorite stats package in cpanel! Must limit cpanel stats package to the ONE preferred package. Be heard, go vote. Lianna Tech Support Services.
  16. Yep, that's all you have to do. Sweet, huh? Take some time to read cPanel documentation. It's very helpful, too. And while you have so much time to kill, you can check out some of Section31's freebie list! Welcome aboard. Lianna
  17. All I have to say is --- DANG! Lianna
  18. You should receive an email (which would go to the listed Administrative Contact for the domain) with all the details for how and where. And yes, you can do it yourself. (But we'll be here if you need help.) While you're waiting, you can review the TCH Domain FAQ pages. (Click Frequently Asked Questions link in upper left.) Lianna
  19. Good one, Ricky. That's a great solution if there are only a few email accounts. I recently transferred a client that had 30 something. Got any suggestions for making that easier? Lianna
  20. Lianna

    asp?

No, James. ASP is only available for Windows based servers. TCH uses all Unix/Linux OS servers and therefore offers PHP instead. Lianna
  21. As long as your old host site is still up and your mail is being handled through them, then things are status quo. As soon as the registration changes take place, then update your DNS for our servers. Make sure that everything is ready to go on our end and the transition will appear seemless to the visitors. They'll never know. Two suggestions: 1) To track the change in registrar, you can also do a WhoIs query on your domain name. Here's the page that I use. Just type in your domain name and check the registrar listed. As soon as you see Wild West Domains listed, you're with us! 2) Once you initiate DNS changes, it could take 24-48 hours for the changes to propagate. During propagation, be sure to check your email often! This will help ensure that no emails are left behind on the old host's server. Welcome home! Lianna
  22. Terry and Jane, Thanks for such kind words about TCH. Welcome to the family! Lianna
  23. Please read this post for more information: .ORG Registry Transition While unlikely, yes there could be a delay in the propagation for up to one week. Lianna
  24. pphoa, thanks for the chat! How very observant of you! Did anyone else notice that my title was spelled incorrectly? I had spelled Technical: Techincal There's a mark of a slammin' designer! Thanks again for having pointed out my error.
  25. Ed, by persist, I was referring to Sorry for any confusion. Yes, go ahead and open a ticket regarding your issue now which is that you can't edit (open) it under FP2000.... They will be able to help you best with this as they can look into your account. Lianna
