I'll second the google.com/hosted option. I love it. My clients love it. 'Nuff said.

Thanks. I attribute at least half of it to the Black Cherry Vanilla Diet Coke <grin>. And now I'm half way to my goal weight!! (Not to turn this into a weight thread. Sorry about the off topic...)

I don't think I told you guys but I joined Weight Watchers back in March, and around then I discovered the new generation of diet colas--you know, the diet colas that don't taste like diet. Now I prefer them to their sugary syrupy counterparts. My current favorites (in order): Black Cherry Vanilla Diet Coke Berries and Cream Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper Diet Coke with Lime So, I'm a Coke fan. And as for the Weight Watchers, I'm down 31 pounds, so that's pretty cool too.

Hey, Crazy Dave -- thanks! Works like a charm, after I realized I had to change the [domain] variable...

Are you using a purchased version of IPB? If not, when you get this problem resolved with the DB, then you probably should consider switching to another forum software. Good luck!

I lived in Brazil for a couple of years during the 1998 World Cup (when Brazil lost to France in the last game). That was a riot (almost literally...) to be in Brazil during the world cup. There is nothing like it in the United States. I do love Brazilian futebol, so I'm rooting for them again this year. Mabye this year they'll get the sixth star for their jerseys. Right now, I believe, they are the only team with five!

Welcome to the forums! Loads super fast in Utah via Comcast Cable connection.

Let us know if you get stuck. It's not that hard once you get your questions answered. But it can seem pretty daunting if you haven't done it before, so be sure to ask if you have any questions.

Mine works: photoalbum.pehrsonfamily.net However, I can't find any configuration settings that make it work. With my WP blog, I can modify the install directory in the settings. I can't find any such option with Coppermine. I wonder if it was set by the install script?

Anita, Welcome to the TCH forums. I'm thinking that to get help, you're probably going to have to provide some additional information. Since the members and moderators of the TCH forums don't have access to your server or account information, there is no way we can help you unless you provide us with more specific information about your script, what it does, and what errors you are receiving. For example, what script are you trying to run? What version is it? What are the hardware and software requirements of your script? Do you connect to a MySQL database? If so, you'll have to modify the script to use the proper database name and username (at TCH the database name and username are prefixed with your TCH cPanel account username). What error message to you see when you try to execute the script? Can you narrow the error down to a specific line of code? We'd love to help you, but we'll need some additional informaiton in order to do so. In the mean time, again, welcome to the TCH forums and family. I'm sure that if you are patient with us here, we'll probably be able to help you solve your problem. Best wishes!!

Whoops. I missed the word "semi-" in there. Such a small word. Such a big difference....

Welcome to the forums!! Go ahead and try TCH, if you aren't sure. You won't be disappointed!!!

Dave, I can't answer the performance question. I'm sure somebody else will; however, I'll venture a guess that because the ram is dedicated to you, you'll have a significant performance increase. But I'm sure somebody will be along to address that for you. As for the transfer, the help desk can transfer the files seamlessly for you. You may need to adjust your nameservers (depending on where your new accoun is), but other than that, there won't be any trouble. If you are going to have to adjust your nameservers, I'd recommend that you temporary close the board on the old server. As soon as you have the new server up and running, you can re-open the board there. Then while non-updated users are hitting the old, disabled board, they won't lose their posts. When the users whose DNS has been updated hit the new server, they can continue posting to the forum. Best wishes in your account upgrade!!

If you tell us the domain you are on, some of us would be willing to try to hotlink a graphic from your site to see if that helps troubleshoot the problem. Just offering to help, if you want it.

Welcome to the forums! I'd welcome you in Português, but English is the official language of the TCH forums. I'd get a kick from the moderators if I were to slip and say Bem Vindo instead of the standard Welcome. So I won't. But Welcome anyway!!

Ahem... Last time I was in Victoria, my wife and I rode bikes past the cruise terminal there (actually that should be bike in the singular. It was a tandem bike). I have a picture here somewhere.... Yes. Here it is: And here is another taken in Victoria: I LOVE that area of the world!!!! We took a Western Carribbean cruise on NCL from New Orleans (pre-Katrina) to Cozumel, Belize, and Honduras. Very fun. I actually referred one of the fellow passengers to TCH while on that cruise. I wonder if he ever joined....

Thanks for the kind words! Glad to see another happy customer, like myself!

Oh, and make sure that by default your forums require that you be registered to post. Sometimes the settings are such that people can post replies to threads even if they aren't subscribed. So you'll want to change that setting. Let us know how it goes!!

Yes, welcome to TCH. Hope you stick around! We'd love to have you!

I'll try it: Duh!!!!!!!!!!! Yep. I can. And I agree!! I've never been a gamer. Unless you count Freecell or Sudoku. But I don't think our hardcore gamers would count either of those.

You can use email groups like you can for forwarders. Here's the limiter, though: with Gmail, the only addresses you can add to your group are people on your domain. Maybe an example will make this more clear. Let's say I have a domain, example.com with Google hosting my email. On my domain, I have three users with accounts: Larry, Sally, and Ruby_Mae. As an administrator, I can create a group name (basically an alias or forwarder) that can send messages, but I can only send them to Larry, Sally and Ruby_Mae. I can't send them to people who don't have accounts on my domain. How do I get around that? I create a gmail address (like forwarder@example.com). And I set Gmail (in account preferences) to forward all incoming mail to an external account. So there is a gmail address/account associated with the forwarder, but I don't have to give the password to anybody, so it doesn't get used unless I want it to. It's an inelegant solution, and I wish Gmail would allow you to include people in your forwarder group who aren't on your domin. But maybe in a later release of the product. It is, after all, still in beta (if that has any meaning with Google anymore. It seems like everything but their regular search engine is still in beta, and has been for years).

I checkd to see if this was a hoax. Snopes.com has it listed as "undetermined" -- meaning they can't confirm that it is or is not a hoax. In any case, it is very funny.
