They may have just disabled the user switching option, however, it sounds like they removed his user account but left the user files in place. Once you login to your account try hitting crt+alt+del and see if the swithc user is option is available. If thats not there it could be either of the above problem.

If you ever have issues with a setting or view in your cPanel, you can use the preference links located at the bottom of the Home screen. Lite/Full Graphics — Toggles display of the header and footer graphics. Hide/Show Icons — Toggles display of the icons contained in the boxes between displaying only hyperlinks, or both icons and hyperlinks. Reset All Interface Settings — Resets any changes made to the interface(including the file manager) and returns it to its default. Reveal All Boxes — Reveals any menu boxes that have been hidden. Boxes can be hidden by clicking the arrow icon in the top right-hand corner of the heading bar. Reset Box Order — Returns the order of boxes to cPanel’s default setting if the order has been changed.

I'm assuming your on Vista from previous posts, if so try the following. If all your icons are missing: >Right click on an empty space on your desktop >Select Arrange Icons By >Then make sure there is a check mark by Show Desktop Icons If you are only missing icons such as My Computer, Recycle Bin, etc: >Right click on an empty space on your desktop >Click on "Personalize" and Click "Change Desktop Icons" in the left column > In the new window, place a check next to the icons you want and click Apply then OK.

Hi Ace, I still have a couple domains with godaddy from years ago and have never seen this. Hopefully they sort things out for you soon and please let us how this turns out. If it goes on too long, feel free to open a ticket and we can always set A records from our end if you point the domain to our servers.

You have a plugin that was causing the issue, it is most likely not compatible with the latest release. I have renamed the plugin's directory to "statpress-broke", this essentially disables it and your blog is now loading correctly.
-
Please accept my apology, as my statement about upgrading all plugins at once was false and I assumed the bulk action worked for updates as well. I really should have looked closer and tested, instead of assuming. When you check the plugin page in your WordPress Admin panel, if there are plugins needing updates you will see the link "Upgrade Available", however as you stated, you still have to upgrade each plugin separately. This is determined by how Apache/PHP are setup and what owner they are set to run under. In this case PHP runs under the user Nobody and requires the open permissions to edit files. We are currently testing changes to our setup to move away from this and allow you to make changes to your files more securely. We will make an official announcement concerning this as soon as we complete our testing.

The built in update tool from WordPress also allows you to remotely browse/search for plugins. You can also select all plugins requiring updates and update them at the same time. Since the options you mentioned are available in both, it comes down to what is more convenient for you, checking a few boxes and entering your FTP details or changing permissions each time. We worked with multiple customers when WordPress released their built in tool and made adjustment to our servers to insure it worked properly. However, your issue is beyond our control as you are using a plugin that the author specifically states "The plugins directory needs to be writable by the webserver". I recommend that you at least temporarily deactivate any update plugins you have and test out the built in features.
-
Are you running a plugin to perform automatic updates? If so, you should remove it as they are no longer necessary.
-
You shouldn't have to change permissions, I maintain several Wordpress sites, none of which I have had to change permissions. You should delete your upload directory and let Wordpress create it next time you update or install a plugin. If you are having permission issue outside of your upload directory, then you should review the permissions for your entire Wordpress installation.

I don't know of anyone running it off hand, but feel free to open a ticket. We would gladly take a look at it for you.

Shell Script Creates File Yet It Doesn't Exist
TCH-Dick replied to kcraighead's topic in Scripting Talk
It appears you created the script in Windows and copied it over to the server. Since Windows and Linux have different formats for carriage returns, the format will not work correctly until it is converted to the UNIX format. I have now converted your script and removed the carriage return from the file name. Your script should now work as intended and I have included a log of the changes I made. >[public_html]# cat -vt send.sh find /home/***/public_html -type f -mtime -1 > /home/***/public_html/change.txt^M cat /home/***/public_html/mail.txt /home/***/public_html/change.txt | /usr/sbin/sendmail -t [public_html]# dos2unix send.sh dos2unix: converting file send.sh to UNIX format ... [public_html]# cat -vt send.sh find /home/***/public_html -type f -mtime -1 > /home/***/public_html/change.txt cat /home/***/public_html/mail.txt /home/***/public_html/change.txt | /usr/sbin/sendmail -t [public_html]# mv change.txt^M change.txt -
You're welcome and thanks for your patience as we worked through everything.

Other than pinned topics, they should show up in an individual forum like Open Discussion in chronological order from newest to oldest. Can you please take a screenshot so I can see whats going on?

This issue was corrected a month ago, and was caused by a security feature on our servers that was blocking the creation of certain /tmp files. Not sure who posted that, we have never "waited on WordPress" for anything, if there is an issue on our end we work to make corrections. If anyone has any trouble using the update features, please check the permissions on your upgrade directory.
-
The correct settings for this feature should be: Mail Server: mail.geardrops.net Port: 110 Login Name: __addpostemail_+blog.geardrops.net If this does not work, please open a ticket to my attention, I will gladly look over this for you. Update: I hope you don't mind, I went ahead and checked your settings(via database) and updated them. Everything appears to be working as intended and you should have pending posts now. Please check it out and let me know if you need any further assistance.

I finally updated to FireFox 3.5 today, only to be greeted with missing images on every page I loaded. If you run into this problem, here is the fix: "Tools -> Options -> Content -> Colors" check "Allow pages to use their own colors, instead of my selections above"

I have split your request off into its own topic so your issue can be reviewed easier. I havent used Nuke in years but this isnt an uncommon problem. Start with the instructions at http://phpnuke.org/modules.php?name=PHP-Nu...sword-lost.html , this should help you recover your access. It is hard to say without knowing your server setup is or what if any control panel you are using. Any information you can provide will help us guide you.

No yet, too scared its going to break my install. Going to try it on my notebook this week.
-
I would like to take a look at this. Please open a ticket and ask that it be escalated to me.
-
We did get this change pushed out and you shouldn't see that error again.
-
We are aware of this issue as I experienced the same problem with my blogs. I have found the source of the issue, although its more of an overzealous security setting than it is a server issue. Basically this security setting is eating the temporary archive that WordPress is creating during the update. We are currently working to adjust this security setting and it will be corrected today.

I am going to assume you are tracking most of your results on Google. If that is the case, I recommend you sign up for Google's WebMaster Tools, which allows you to set your Geographic target.

Messages Sent From Tch Account To Yahoo Being Returned
TCH-Dick replied to Darcy's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Hi Darcy, Please just open a ticket with help desk and select the Abuse department. We will then review the server and contact Yahoo to clear the block.
