  1. The alternative installation of SquirrelMail has not been removed from your server, there is an issue with the install that will be corrected today. However, this alternative installation may not always be available as cPanel now allows access to webmail via port 80. Should we ever decide to stop providing this alternative installation, then an announcement will be made.
  2. They do not add up, as with most firewalls you have to hit a certain amount of failures in a certain time frame. I won't post those numbers but I promise if you trigger a failure today it won't be counted next month. If you are getting blocked constantly, please open a ticket and we can work with you on what is causing the block.
  3. OK, I had to test this out. I installed WordPress version 2.7 and the upgrade option does indeed ask for your FTP details to complete the auto upgrade. So I provided the necessary information and allowed the upgrade to run. Once completed I checked version.php and it had been changed from $wp_version = '2.7-RC1'; to $wp_version = '2.7-RC1-10026';. I'm unsure if these two releases are actually different but it is clear that the upgrade process modified my install. I also removed the default plugins before running the upgrade, and they were installed again once the upgrade process completed. So unless you have extremely modded your install of WordPress, you should have no problem using the new upgrade feature on our servers.
  4. I haven't had a chance to look at this yet, but can only assume it works the same as the current Plug-ins update option. If so that means it only requires you provide access to FTP, which is not uncommon for scripts that upgrade themselves. Unless there is some strange setup required then I see no reason it would be an issue.
  5. You are missing the directories wp-admin, wp-content, and wp-includes - just upload those and wordpress should work fine.
  6. You can find your ftp logs in cPanel under Files> Ftp Accounts. If I recall correctly the only catch is that you will need to change the file extension to .txt once you download the logs.
  7. He is not wrong, but that's an easy statement to make when you only have one or two servers compared to several hundred. The fact is, we are fully aware of the needs of those that choose to use processors that require PCI compliance and have plans to provide this service. However, it will not be offered on our standard shared servers and is currrentlly only avaiable on dedicated servers. The features this customer would like us to disable will have a negative impact for all customers on the server and will not be changed for one site. I will list each of these requests and any resulting issues if they are disabled. 1. Disable the Apache option UserDir: This is the feature that allows you to access your site by servername/~username and also enables the use of the free SSL certificate we supply on all of our servers. So as you can clearly see, disabling this option for one customer cripples those that choose not to purchase their own certificate to secure their store/site. 2. Non-standard SMTP port: We enable port 26 as well as the standard port 25 to send email so that customers can use it in case their ISP blocks port 25. Once again a clear case of we can not cripple the server for the use of one site. 3. Disable SSL 2.0: This is a known issue with cPanel servers that we and many other hosts have worked with cPanel to have corrected. In fact the next stable release of cPanel(11.24)addresses this and we see no reason now to manually tweak several hundred servers. We have done this in the past only to have cPanel updates overwrite the changes or prevent updates from proprely running. This will be corrected in the near future.
  8. Please try paying via PayPal vs the option PayPal "account on file". If that is not working you will need to contat Domain Billing Support at (480) 624-2515
  9. Greetings, We have recently received several inquiries about domain renewal warnings sent via snail mail. These letters were not sent by TotalChoice Hosting nor our domain registration partner. These renewal warnings are sent from a company called Domain Renewal Group and they send these notices using WHOIS data in an attempt to have you renew with them. If you mail payment to them, they will then transfer your domain to their registration service and renew it there. On top of this deception they also charge you a renewal rate of $30.00 or three times what you currently pay as the service we provide renews at $10.95 per year. You may renew your domain at any time by accessing your account at https://mya.securepaynet.net/Default.aspx?i...;prog_id=simple or calling (480) 624-2515. Please let us know if you have any questions about this matter.
  10. Just wanted to share an email a friend sent me today. I doubt this really occured but it sure drives home the point. “Today on my way to the Waffle House for breakfast I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read ‘Vote Obama, I need the money.’ I laughed. Once in the restaurant my server had on an ‘Obama 08’ pin; again I laughed as she had given away her political preference--just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to her that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. She stood there in disbelief while I told her that I was going to redistribute her tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I’d decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waitress was very angry that I gave away the money she did earn even though the actual recipient [apparently needed] the money more. I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.”
  11. Just change the "double" quotes to 'single' quotes around the value for $password and it will work fine with the dollar sign in the password.
  12. What does any of the candidates race, ethnicity, or sex have to do with their ability to run our country? I can only hope that no one takes race, ethnicity, or sex into consideration when voting, although I'm not naive enough to believe won't occur. As Oboma said this week, “What I’ve found is that people here, they don’t care what colour you are. What they’re trying to figure out is who can deliver”. I doubt he believes that any more than I do about voters for both parties, buts its a nice thought none the less. In the end the only thing that counts is that you vote.

  14. The server sees the vcard as a text file therefore when FF checks the MIME Type it also sees it as a text file. This is corrected by adding a custom MIME Type via your cPanel under Advanced Option > MIME Types. The custom MIME type should be created with the settings MIME Type: text/x-vcard and Extension: vcf . However, I have already added this MIME type for you, just clear your cache in FF and try again.
  15. All are on the latest stable version of cPanel 11 and I have now updated the site to reflect this.
  16. Linux is case sensitive, so just publish your index file as index.html (all lower case) and it will load correctly.
  17. I'm sorry that tech support's response wasn't very clear but that doesn't equate to dodging the question., we have nothing to hide. Remote backups rotate out on a weekly basis, so data there is kept no more than one week. Local cPanel backups can stay on the server up to 6 months on average. This is due to fact that cPanel does not automatically remove backups at the time of deletion and they are manually removed. Please let us know if there any other concerns with retention of backups that we can address for you.
  18. Good luck with voting 3rd party, we tried that last time(see ad below) and it didn't work I didn't even get one write in from that, although Thomas said he would vote for me.
  19. Well Obama lost me back in April with his comments on concealed weapons. After serving my country for several years and living in Texas most of my life, owning and carrying my handgun is a right I am accustomed to and don't care to lose. However, that's not my point here, I just wanted to say VOTE! Regardless of who its for just make sure your voice is heard and for any one that hasn't registered to vote, you need to do so asap.
  20. The Presidential election is just a month away and thought I would give us a place to discuss it. So please cast your vote above and feel free to post your thoughts. I just ask three things of you: 1. Try to be nice, if you can 2. Please, for all that is holy, no Ron Paul rants 3. Have fun
  21. Some times the MX records will reset to default when migrating an account. If you decide to make this change just mention in in your ticket when requesting the upgrade and transfer.
  22. I'm up for now although there is still no power at my home. I am actually staying with family closer to Galveston as they now have power in a few areas. Thankfully no, the neighbors and I took care of that. It's not something they will do more than once around here;) As far as I know from all I seen today, yes it you were getting the rest of Ike and then it died out into Canada. I'm not far from Hobby now and I live close to Humble on Lake Houston. Parts of Humble has power now but we those around the Lake Houston are do not due to all the downed lines.
  23. Hey All, I'm currently at my father in laws as he has managed to procure a generator for us. I will be heading back home(45 miles north of Galveston) in the next hour to try and get that going, although fuel maybe an issue. I was able to check on Terri and she has made it back home. She has no power yet either and did receive a bit more damage to things such as her roof and a here storage building. Things are nasty all around here but we were rather lucky and only sustained minor damage. I'm taking all the necessary steps to get Terri and I back online and comfortable until things return to normal. If needed we will put Terri up with our family if power isn't restored soon. Thanks for all of your support and hope to be back soon. Posted from my BlackBerry
  24. If you are passing off all of the transaction services to Google or PayPal then I would say no you do not need SSL. However, I assume that you will be passing information to Google or PayPal and they will be passing it back to your store. In this case you want to have a cert to protect you and your customers.
  25. Remove this service directly from your Domain Management account http://www.trustlogo.com/trustlogo_choice.html If ordered for your domain and not a sub-domain then all of your site is secured, with the exception of cPanel/WHM which is handled by our certificates Yes and it is recommended
