You can create the folder first then in ftp managment: create the ftp user with password and replace the default folder with the one you created. Thats it all done. they log into ftp as ftp:domain user name@domain pass word **** and they will be taken to the folder you created and will not be able to go above it.

I believe the full backups are restored first to recreate accounts and then the incremental backups are restored. Which accounts for the flip flopping of our files from old to the newer ones at the end of the restore. And why the techs always say wait until they give the word that the restore is finished before you make changes to your site.

For the future, in cpanel > backup you can download a Home Directory this is a compressed backup of all your files. Its good to make a backup before radical changes. Then You can upload a Home Directory file later if needed or just go inside the compressed file and copy any old files needed.

If want to do the restore yourself you can download the home directory which is all your files and can be uploaded later but then you will also need to download your databases and filters and alias which you can also upload yourself.
