I choose not to hide my personal email address from my friends, family and coworkers. That is why I run a hardware firewall and the best AV software $ can buy.

Added My Review To Findmyhosting.com
Head Guru replied to 442GlenwoodAvenue's topic in Reviews of TotalChoice Hosting
Thanks for the nice review. I did get a giggle out of your last statement. "If I had any really, really small complaint - I might have chosen a different address for the company - totalchoicehosintg.com takes a while to type in." It's not how long it takes to type the domain name in, its how long you stay once you get here. -
Today alone on my personal email account, I had 19 infected emails hit my inbox. Stinks!

E-mail Forwarding "challenge"
Head Guru replied to simplyjond's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
This will not work. The auto responder services are very strict and have designed there mail servers to disallow this very thing. Here is what happens. You set up a forwarder to forward any mail from abc@****** to go to abc@freeautoresponder.whatever The email arrives at the TCH server. The email header is created with 1 layer of tracking information. However, the moment it is auto-forwarded out of our server a 2nd layer of tracking information is embedded into the header. This tracking information is required! When that email arrives at the bot, it is rejected instantly. They simply /dev/null the inbound email, as it is viewed as spam attempts. In every instance where I have investigated this issue, the bots will auto-reject the email. What makes this so bad, is the auto responder companies have no clue that the software they bought (its mostly all canned software) will do this. Bill -
How Do I Get My Welcome Letter Resent
Head Guru replied to haywood jahelpme's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Bodhi, I have resent your welcome email to the email address you listed during signup. Let me know if you got it. Bill -
Paco! I am very sorry I missed your email(s). We are going to start offering a new plan with 35GB of bandwidth and a larger allotment of disc space. I have dinner plans with family tonight (My wifes family is Italian and they are big on the dinner thing). However, my promise to you is this. When I return tonight, I will have determined the package details for the new plan, and I will add it to our plans pages and it will be available as a upgrade and as a new account purchase. I have also asked Mitch to look at your current bandwidth consumption for this month if your close to going over, I have told Mitch to increase your bandwidth by 5GB. This will be at no charge and your account will rollover back to the default bandwidth on the 1st. Thanks, I will update this thread when I have added the new plan. Oh, wondering what to call this new plan? Maybe the Super Duper Expert Plan? Well that will need some work. Thanks and sorry I missed your emails. Thats not like me. Bill

You can always route your email thru your ISP. I have watched this debate for several months now, and nothing has convinced me that we should change any setting on our servers. The antivirus.exim filter works well. It will remain on the servers. Bill

From slashdot Osirusoft Blacklists The World Posted by timothy on Tuesday August 26, @11:15PM from the wildcard-matches-for-evil dept. ariehk writes "As of today, Osirusoft, distributer of the SPEWS and open relay blocklists, among others, is no longer operational. Servers using these lists (including the FTC) are currently rejecting ALL email. This shutdown seems to be in response to a several-week-long DDoS attack on Osirusoft, SPEWS and others, resulting in both sites being down. This has caused much discussion on n.a.n-a.e, including the suggestion that the attack is somehow related to the SoBig worm. The spammers must be hurting if they can devote these kinds of resources to attacking blocklists." Read on below a related submission. NSXDavid writes "Earlier today our site mysteriously ended up on Joe Jared's Osirusoft SPAM blacklist which is used by lots of antispam software (like SpamAssassin and sendmail). Since he is currently under a serious DDoS attack, there was no way to appeal this decision. We contacted Mr. Jared by phone who informed us that 'everyone needs to stop using Osirusoft and that he's going to be shutting the service down.' Then he says he's going to blacklist 'the world' (aka, ban *.*.*.*) to get his point across. Later on this evening, he apparently went ahead and did just that. Succumbing to lawsuits and DDoS, a once great blacklist is dead. SpamAssassin is removing it from their config in the next release (rc3) and email admins around the globe are reconfiguring their mail servers." This will most likley be corrected on the next update of cPanel.

We are not currently planning any smaller hosting plans. However, there has been talk about introducing a email only variant. Bill

I have never installed wiki. Perhaps you could submit a support ticket and I can escalate it to our lead admin for review. Alan may have installed it. Sorry thats about all I can offer you at this point. Bill

If I order a Big Mac, and McDonald's gives me a Fillet of Fish what should I do? Well, I am the customer after all. I could, stand in the middle of the street and scream"I want my Big Mac", or I could simply walk inside and politely ask for the manager and get my Big Mac. Jeff choose to stand in the street and scream. He screams whilst I eat my Big Mac. It's just how one views a post. Your post is inaccurate. I felt it was attacking in its very nature. These are public forums. If you show up and make a posting that is derogatory towards TotalChoice and I feel its unfounded, then I will defend the company. Bottom line is email me for you refund bill@totalchoicehosting.com If you don't like the service, take advantage of our 30 day money back system. You made your comments and thats that. Thread closed!

First of all, sorry you had a bad experience with my company. However, several points you failed to 'note' in your nightmare story. I will point them out for you, since you omitted them. I assume your referring to the Welcome Email we sent you when your hosting account was provisioned. Fact of the matter is, you requested a domain name transfer before you attempted to move the domains DNS. The moment you made payment on the domain name transfer our registrar 'Wild West Domains' initiates a transfer request to the current registrar of the domain. Now, how is it the fault of my company that you requested the transfer, then realized you did not need to pay a transfer fee and could simply point the domains DNS. We go above and beyond giving detailed tutorials on moving DNS. In fact we even have flash movies that show in detail how to do this. The email sent to you about approving the request had totalchoicehosting.com in the body of the email. All you had to do was click on the link approving the transfer, the information was all contained in the request to transfer email. Including the fact the totalchoicehosting was requesting the transfer. I am not one to disagree with my customers, but this statement is UNTRUE. On 24 Aug 2003 02:05:19 PM you placed a support ticket into our support desk. I wont go into the details of the ticket, as this is private between you and totalchoice. However @ 24 Aug 2003 02:28:58 PM, your ticket was responded to. Then @ 24 Aug 2003 03:01:28 PM you opened another ticket and it was responded to @ 24 Aug 2003 03:22:29 PM. Both replies from my tech people were concise and gave you clear concise answers. Also, for a company that in your view doesn't give support we answered your inquires in 33 minutes and 17 minutes. As I stated the transfer request has totalchoicehosting.com on it. The fact is that you inquired to Network Solutions on this issue and they responded to you with 'Wild West Domains". It is made very clear in several areas of our web site, that you can simply re-point the DNS to our servers. Its listed in our FAQ, we even have flash movie tutorials on this very subject. It is also listed right here in these very same forums and can be found here. Change DNS Whilst, I respect you and your request for a refund on this failed transfer, it is worth noting that you were never left in the dark and you were never on your own. This is proved by the responses to your support tickets and this Post by you.. You will note that we again responded to your postings within minutes. In fact Posted: Aug 24 2003, 03:03 PM and responded to Posted: Aug 24 2003, 03:09 PM. As far as the refund goes, I have no problem refunding your money. Even though I feel this isnt the fault of my company.

How true is that statement!
